Ugly and Diseased

Recommended Posts

She wanted to find her. That’s all she wanted to do, find the woman who took care of her, and feel like she belonged somewhere again. She trekked across the bridge into their city. She liked their city, it was pretty. Invisible, as usual, she walked in, but still could not find her. Sighing, she turned and made her way back. She found a few people talking and tapped one to try and get his attention. The words thrown at her made her falter.

“Do you think she is diseased?”

“Never thought I would see something so ugly.”

“Why are you deformed?”

“What is that filth?”

One cowered in fear, another ready to attack. The man she had approached stepped aside, despite at first seeming willing to help. She was grabbed and panic fueled her. She tried to pull away, flee from the city, but she ended up dragged from the city. Her silent pleas were ignored, no sympathy came from these people. To them, she was just impure filth. As they reached the bridge, her entire body tensed in fear. The woman dragging her slapped her, knocking her off balance and causing her to fall into the river below.

She did not know how long she was down there. Her leg hurt, her chest ached, her mind swirled. She lay on the shore, cold. Time went by before someone approached. The woman she was looking for. The woman bent down, picked her up and carried her back into the city. Fear crippled her as she clung to the woman. She was taken to the home, given a place to rest, however, it was a short lived reunion.

Filth.

Diseased.

Ugly.

She was ushered upstairs, the resounding fight was a haze. Run. She tried to escape but the pain was too much. Her legs moved slowly as she tried to get down the cliffs to the bank. She managed to climb down before her hands slipped, causing her to plummet. A sickening crack was heard as her legs gave out. Dazed and in agony, she felt nothing when the lightning struck her skull. She felt nothing as her body slumped sideways and fell further down the cliffs into the waters below.

The sound of thunder echoed in her ears, startling her from a dream she could not remember. She looked around, finding herself in a bed at cloud temple. Pain shot through her body from the injuries she sustained from the fall from the bridge. “We found you in the river young one. Please rest, let us help heal you.” She looked at the one who spoke, fear filling her as she moved back. He sighed and nodded, understanding. “We will not force you to stay.”

She was given a crutch to use. She departed, finding a merchant heading for Sutica. He gave her a ride, allowing her a chance to rest. The words filling her head as they travelled. She was soon home. Laying on the bench, she fell into a restless sleep. Falling, a storm, pain. She would wake in a sweat, her eyes unfocused as her sleep would not give her the rest she desperately needed.

OOC:

The events last night brought some interesting roleplay to my character and gave her some nice development. She was killed during the second event and does not remember anything, thus it was written in blue. To put my own twist on monks for myself, because Rin is so innocent and fragile, instead of healing her fully, they returned her to the state she was before the death, to make it less likely she would find something wrong. The only thing that remains from her experience is a storm, aka the lightning, giving her a new fear to play with. I wish to thank Countessem and the high elves for the Roleplay and the character development. Thank you for being patient with me at the tail end of the RP.
