The only heist I was a part of was a joke. They ran away and when we gave chase they turned around and downed us with no repercussions. Take that information as you will.

Keep this in mind, also keep the fact that they'll use bolt cutters  to raid settlements in mind.

Why do you have to throw 5k into thin air, makes no RP sense.

Alright, responding on mobile so I do apologize. The 5k base price is meant to act as a buffer to stop heists from occuring on smaller structures without reason. If you know a player has a rare item that you want, you'll drop the cash but if you have no clue, you will stay far away from it giving new players a little bit of protection.

A different solution to that potential issue would be to limit a player to being involved in only one heist at a time. However, I feel that most players wouldn't bother with heisting random shacks out in the wilderness as it simply wouldn't be worth the time for the survival resources within. Would heists even apply to random freebuild structures?

Also if the bolt cutters were to cost 10k mina each then they certainly shouldn't have a 25% chance of completely breaking on each roll, that's definitely not worth the risk for the reward of heisting iron sets.

Heists apply to all structures. As I've stayed the 5k cost is to prevent that from occuring. Instead of adding in a rule that any freebuild structure smaller then 10 by 10 cannot be heisted, an easier and simpler way to stop small places from getting what little they have swiped is to create a base cost. Anything under that cost isn't worth it. Just to let you know where nations line up. The dominion has nearly 400k worth of rp items scattered around.

Wouldn’t axes work just as well on fences tho. Maybe not iron bars, but fences?

edit: and what about axes on doors and chests? Those would certainly break since they’re made out of wood most of the time

Lockpicks and the standard system is all that is going to be used at this time. Bolt cutters are a step towards more options.

inb4 there is hallways of 20 iron doors and buried chests. Better than nothin tho wolfkite! the price is a good middle ground i think, but heists will only be profitable targeting roleplay items or stacks of diamonds- which clever people already bury. maybe something to address long hallways of iron doors and buried chests?

Thanks chump. And also something I'll be adding on after work is that 20 iron doors in a row will not be acceptable. If you can help me out and suggest what a good limit is. That would be great!

I very much like the idea of it but I believe there is room for improvement within this way of doing that. Sadly I don't know what, but I just feel like there might be some more work into the idea of this way of doing Heists.

Heists will be modified as the heists occur to adapt to the server. This system won't be perfect right away, but we will start off with a decent base and work from there.

Yay, another application to fill with arbitrary monetary costs that enhances dynamic rp! ?

It's either a 5k base price for heists or any freebuild smaller then x by x cannot be heisted. One is an abusable rule that shouldn't be a thing which is why it isnt. I under your concern algoda. But ponder said it best.

Bolt cutters -way too expensive-

Potential to be used in raids later on. Plus bolt cutters aren't supposed to be used in every single heist. Also, aren't you apart of the dominion? You guys bypassed the 700k mark weeks ago. But I understand your concern. The price will be adapted if this goes into effect.

Might as well paywall heists behind the crown store, you'd like that wouldn't you Telanir?

Throwing away 5k minas to open 2 doors at most before you run out of rolls and subsequently getting nameplated? Additional 10k minas for a single big scissor boi?

Heists were already a massive failure, but now it looks like someone dared you to make it even worse and your beer is on hold.

Ponder said it best. And heists are supposed to be a chance for players to go after the big boi items similar to the hammer of urguan as an example or crown of Oren. It's supposed to give you a chance to steal these items and have a chance to be free in roleplay. The 5k is a pay wall to stop players from heisting settlements or structures that aren't worth it. I hope that all makes sense.

you can literally break into chests and find RP items you can sell for 15,000 minas lol

Glad you see it.

Read the rules for combat. If one member of your party is attacked and guards declare pvp, only that player is in pvp. He can keep the guards busy well the others keep heisting.

That is why they cost 10k minas and have a 25% to break. It's an investment. Plus on a heist, it's not meant to be used on every one.

Before i can make a good response i need to know how many chests can you break into, how many doors can you break through, and is breaking through glass limited?

Missed yours in the first round. The post allows each player 5 rolls. That includes doors, chests, glass. If you have 6 members, you will be allowed 30 rolls as a group. I originally wanted the number of rolls to be higher but after some discussions with players here is why it's 5. If you go to a raid with no lockpicks, no raid ladders, nothing to prepare yourself you will be using up rolls like crazy. If you go prepared or with a mole on the inside, the easier it is for you to heist and the more rolls you have left for chests.

I'm only putting in my 2 cents. There were at least 3 gms involved and nothing was done. There weren't guards involved. There were 2 people heisting in one home. They both ran out as 5 of us got the place surrounded. They ran away and two of us chased them. They turned around, attacked, and downed us. That's literally what happened.

Like I said take that information as you will but that's my only experience with heists and it was quite frankly disgusting at the time. I could care less now and I don't see how that rule pertains to this instance, perhaps you can explain it better?

With what you're explaining, this would occur. The players would be out of rolls and be unable to continue on. If you had the place surrounded in rp and they decided to just run away. Either the players would be tpd back for trying to roleplay or you could down the players. If they turned around and downed you that would be pugsy and be punished accordingly. To simplify. The heist is all roleplay until the guards or whoever catches the heisters calls pvp. The people heisting are not allowed to just pvp when they are caught. I hope that makes sense.

It does, was this a recent rule addition? I can assume not. So if that's the case players need to be better watched along with gms policing said players better. Hopefully that type of stuff doesn't occur anymore.

Looks pretty good tbf, just the Gms need to know what they're doing and make sure people don't swap items around or burn items while the GM isn't looking, maybe have 2 Gms watching over a heist.

This is way too expensive to be worth it at all. Aside from that seems good.

How about 'No' on the 5k hmm?
Reading this I have to say I'm pretty happy with how the new heist rules are going....except for the initial 5k payment prior to the heist. See I understand why that is made a requirement, it's so that people will carefully choose a house and commit to it rather than go to a town and rob every house for every day...but it still doesn't make sense. For one, why and who the hell do these people pay the initial FIVE THOUSAND MINAS to? Is there some force out there that rolls the dice for the thieves? Is Nocturnal affecting their luck? No, it makes no sense and ruins other rp potentials. Say a group of beggars, down on their luck and starving decided to work together to break into a merchant's house to steal some valuables to pay for food? Well they can't do that because FOR SOME REASON they need to pay 5k for 'rp costs'. That doesn't make sense, what rp costs? The supplies are already there, bolt cutters and lockpicks priced fairly. It would make better sense to remove the 5k cost and instead allow the players the option to lessen the risk of a heist going wrong by buying supplies like bolt cutters and lockpicks, or decide to rely on luck altogether and un-efficiently break into a house that's more likely to draw attention. Also rolls for glass and windows is stupid, you don't need luck to break a damn glass window with a stone...it doesn't bounce off in any chance.

If I can only steal pixels and can't steal some dumb ******* floating magic crystal it isn't purely RP and is just another crap thing.

Seems legit. The only problem is that it won't be accessable to a few groups, such as knights, so, maybe a name other than heists would make that barrier a bit smaller. Now, cookies...

why have the door bashing plugin that supposedly replaced lockpick rolls if lockpick rolls are still the only way to get through doors, here

Because if you payed 10k for a heist and the first door you go to lockpick jamms, the whole heist is done if that's the only way in. I still think the door should be able to jam 3 times with the lockpick plugin as thats how rolling for a door worked. 3 people could try instead of just one. And @L0rdLawyer are ladders allowed to be used?

Heists done in the middle of the night won't pass. I think I forgot to include has to be done in peak times.

Would allowing burglary without the need for a heist be viable if it was done this way, lockpicking chests only being allowed at peak times as to increase the risk of getting caught?

We could just work on the lock picking mechanic and allow chests to be opened somehow, then there would be no need for all this right? Or would chaos over run the server with everyone becoming a thief.
