Friends, countrymen, Velians,

Hear this call from Proconsul Titus Labienus Cursor!

 

It is with great pleasure that the Proconsul of Colonia Aequium, and hence governor of the Velian possessions in the land of Terra Prava, brings forth the call for the Public Assembly to give their judgement and input for the investiture of public officials.

 

Be it so that Proconsul Titus Labienus Cursor respects the decree of the Gods that mankind should rule themselves. Be it unlike his contemporaries, he has called for the election of public representatives early!
 

And so hear the call, Velian citizens of the Colony of Aequium, to send your three finest and most worthy candidates to fill seats as Decuriones, and invest in them the powers to call and assess the Public Assembly and to enforce the laws, save their expressed veto over one another.

Character Announcement of Candidacy: I, Manius Claudius Curio do declare my candidacy for the position of Decurio for the sake of maintaining the city, and upholding our law when the rest of you sleep. With this position, I intend on seeing to it that our people are properly housed, fed, protected, and entertained. I would also like to propose legislation so that our people can evolve with rapidly changing situations, and can adapt accordingly to them. Such legislation would include teaching our foreign members our language, arranging annual minor-games, and instating rite-rituals for various purposes including rites-of-passage for coming-of-age and coming-to-office. If elected, I will firstly uphold our culture, colony, and provide good company to our Velian people. Secondly, if elected, I will re-enlist in the legion for another five years to ensure I have the proper discipline and title to dispense justice where it’s needed. We shall make our name synonymous with civilized culture in Terra Prava. I will be an asset to the Decuriones triad. If you do not vote for me, vote for Amatii.
