MunaZaldrizoti 8037 Share Posted May 22, 2019 Spoiler Pearlescent eyes opened to find a cold and desolate desert spread out before her, the woman known as Victoria Vientos surrounded on all sides by its cold sands. A brisk breeze blew across her skin, carrying strands of her hair off to one side. She had merely sat down to rest a moment, finding herself here moments later. Her lips spread thin, the Ascended began trudging forward, struggling against the winds to press further and deeper into the desolation ahead. For what felt like hours, she wandered and wandered. Her body ached, her strength growing thin. As she lifted her visage from the grey landscape to the horizon, a ringing, like the toll of a bell, sounded over the area, a chill running down Victoria’s spine. “Victoria Vientos, child of Anna and William. Daughter of Heial, wife to one Artyom, a second Rickard, and mother to many. A Princess and once-Queen, but Ascended above all else.” The voice carried with the wind, almost non-existent. A figment of her imagination. “You may now rest, my child. The Archaengul has honored your service with eternal life here, with her, so that you might guide the souls that need your aid.” It took all Victoria had not to weep. For a moment, she was a little girl again, the disgraced daughter of Queen Anna once more, hunted for and abused by so many before she found her path. She was grateful now, for all her life had given her to spite those harsher times. A true blessing. She rose, taking a final breath before accepting that she had served her purpose and done her duty, walking onward and into a more peaceful existence. Spoiler Spoiler So, this is the end of an era, for me. I have had Victoria Vientos for almost 2 years now, but I feel ready to move on to new things. Thank you to everyone who has made her one of the best characters I have ever had the honor of playing. To those who helped develop her by being her friends, her enemies, and her family. I have learned so much through her and, in some ways, from her. When I was in a darker place in my life, I drew strength from the idea of her and compelled myself to keep moving forward, a mantra which has always rang true with her. I will always have a piece of Victoria in my heart. But on a final note, I want to say a thank you to @Old-Rattlesnake . If you hadn’t have taken a chance on me, when I showed up on the doorstep of the Ascended as an orphaned child, I don’t think I would’ve been blessed with such an incredible character arc and story. You will always be one of my closest friends on this server and I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate you as a person. To @TankM1A2 and @Gilded, thank you both for playing my first and second husbands, respectively, and joining me on this adventure. I hope you both succeed with whatever you decide to do and create on the server going forward. And a final thank you to Victoria Vientos, the best character anyone could ever ask for. ? Zacho 2177 Share Posted May 22, 2019 A man mourning far more often that he suspected looked off into the infinite cosmos as the moon began to rise on the cusp of the world. His grey eyes filled with age and wisdom simply watched as another soul drifted to the soulstream, as if he could see the invisible action of true death. “Aeriel treat her well. “ The aged adunian figure said as he stepped back from the coast and walked off, leaving only a large ‘VV’ carved in the sands, the wind already flicking it away. Old-Rattlesnake 1534 Share Posted May 22, 2019 To be a thing so small, frail and fleeting as a man is to know the creeping dark beyond the mortal eye. Where this life ends, and another begins. The question of what the end entails is not something many get to choose, and so they fill the blanks in-between. Success. Glory. Grandeur. Prosperity. A particular Mali’aheral, much like any other, craved a legacy to call his own. He built grand libraries, ruled a nation, fought against corrupted monstrosities that threatened the land, and rebuilt an ancient order. His life was dedicated to these great deeds, and yet, his heart was not satisfied. He wished for something else. Something greater. And he found it, standing in the snow outside his lecture hall, on a cold winter night. Everything he had done, everything he wished to do, everything he hoped and prayed for, in that moment, was forced into the background. And that was why as Sokar took Victoria’s hand into hers, a familiar palm, as pale as snow, took the other. From a Mali’aheral, who had been waiting for quite a while. This was all that mattered. And for the first time in a thousand years, he smiled a genuine smile. He had found his happy ending.
Andustar 4143 Share Posted May 22, 2019 Spoiler Since his earliest days as an Ascended, Rickard often stopped mid-pace in admiration of Victoria. His time as an Ascended had been comforted by her presence; to Rickard, it felt like the Archaengul incarnate stood by his side. He could never forget the day they made their vows to one another; he promised to stay by her side until the realm blinked out of existence. He had failed to do so, or at least, that’s what he felt. “I’m sorry, Victoria. I should’ve been there with you…” Rickard, in truth, was no stranger to death. He had lost countless battle-brothers and outlived the prodigy of his line many times over. Yet, for the first time in what may have been decades, his heart ached. For the first time since his days as the staunch Duke of Carnatia, he felt incomplete. “Papa, have youse seen mommy?” Tristan asked his father. Those words echoed in his mind. Victoria and Rickard’s second child, Tristan; he was the last remnant of Victoria in this world. Grieved, he lifted the boy onto his shoulders, looking out upon the bay of Llyria. How would he explain this to his son? Would such a young and innocent child be capable of bearing the pain of loss? @pundimonium “Tristan, your mother… She won’t be coming back.” Having mustered the courage to say it, the boy’s inquisitive eyes bore that all too familiar gaze of confusion. “But in her absence, we must be here for one another. You must honour your mother; I expect you to uphold her memory.” It was no easy task, but it had to be done. Despite all of Rickard’s grievances, he had a family to provide for and a legacy to continue. His duty as an Ascended demanded that he uphold the covenants of his order. But one thing he resolved above all else: he would never forget Victoria; forever, he would cherish the love they once had. The love they still have...
