Fliers are posted around the various cities and crossroads of Arcas, telling of a writing contest being held at The Atheneum; the library of the scholar city of Llyria.

Greetings to you, traveler,

 

In celebration of the opening of The Atheneum, the staff of the library invite you to participate in a writing contest.  The winner of this contest shall have a portrait made in their honour, which shall be hung up somewhere within the building -- until another contest is hosted and a new winner is chosen!

 

What is expected?

- It is encouraged that the submission is about a non-fictional topic that may be useful or at least interesting to whomever reads it.

- Fictional works are still accepted; however, they will be judged more harshly than the non-fictional works.

- Whatever is submitted must be written by yourself.

 

How do I submit a book?

- Once you’ve written a book, fill out the application format below and turn it into a staff member of the library while turning in your submission into the donation chest located beside the front desk.

 

The contest ends in two stone weeks!

The winning prize of this contest is character art, done by me.  Examples will be shown within a spoiler below of what that will look like.

 

To reach Llyria, go to the coordinates of -1400, 0.  The library is located right on the town’s square, across from the tavern.

 

The prize drawing will be a bust (shoulders up) of the character who wrote and turned in the book and it will be colored!

A rather hazy looking Dark Elf saunters through various cities, the flyer seeming to catch his eye. He’d soon walk over to it and pull it from the rusted nail that had held it to the wall. “Hm.” He’d hum into himself as his red eyes drifted down the paper. ”Perhaps I should give this a try.” He’d think, then folding the paper in half and pushing it into the satchel that clung low beside his waist. Soon he pondered off once again, however this time to his desk with some ink and paper.

Haku glanced over the fliers, which he noticed amidst his walk this morning. He tilted his head slightly, crossing his arms over his chest as he pondered over the possibility. If nothing else, it might be quite fun simply to submit texts to the library, and perhaps study in it’s halls for some time as well, if it were stocked with things that might hold his interest.

 

In a notebook procured from his pocket, he carefully jotted down the details, safely returned the notebook to his pocket, and headed back home. Surely someone he knew would be able to bind a book for him?

 

Then there was the matter of ink.. He tapped his chin as he considered the varying supplies that would be necessary for a hobbyist writer.

A goblin rushes into the library, huffing, glancing around at the rows of bookshelves. Finding the donation chest, she places a small tome inside, exhaling softly.

 

“Zkah, mi got lozt luukin foh diz plaze. Hohp mi nub tuu late foh dah kontezt.”

 

Stretching, she pats the dust off her pants and heads off, leaving the tightly-bound book neatly stacked on top of the other submissions.
