Decreed by Tiberius I, King of Cascadia and Count of Helena

It is a sad day when the foundations of humanity fall to rock and rubble. For thousands of years the people of mankind have risen to defend their homes and build grand cities worthy of envy. I write this edict, reflecting on the history of our world and humanities place in it. I stand before the realm as the newly proclaimed King of Cascadia and the Count of Helena and a staunch patriot of Renatian identity.

The saying goes from the Renatian courts of Aeldin and the phoenix court of Pronce, “A Renatian does not look an Orenian in the eye and see him as his equal.”

I detest the idea of the Holy Oren Empire, my grandfather Aurelius Canonius Magnus engineered the fall of the decrepit sixth Empire and birthed anew a generation worthy of the name Horen.

It is henceforth with this edict that I decree the lands and territories of the Kingdom of Cascadia to be independent from the Holy Oren Empire and declare the County of Helena and the city to be brought into a new era of prosperity.

IN NOMINE DEI

His Majesty, Tiberius of the House of Tiber, King of Cascadia and Count of Helena

“Regardless of how you angle it, you will, for the rest of time, be considered a race traitor by Rhoswhenii and Humans who do not dab. Aurelius would be rolling in his grave to see how you let Humanity fall. Certainly, he hated Oren. But Humanity did not cease through battle with the dwed. It succumbed to disease, the disease of traitors who, in their thirst for power and malicious attitudes, quite literally invited the dwarves in to wreak havoc upon fellow humans. Weak. Shame on the house of Tiber, shame.” commented angry scholar.

A nameless peasant worries that humanity will never be able to unite under one banner again, and that they will remain weak and small due to their ceaseless infighting. The peasant wonders if humans will ever be great again.

From somewhere frigid and cold, an old Horen queen would chuckle at the news.

“Let these false Pertinaxi dogs fight over who gets the last meat on their shared bone. Their true baseborn peasant nature shines best when they fight with one another. What an embarrassment.”
