BE THAT OF QUEENS

Andrik Petyr would remain cloistered in seclusion within his room at the top of the tallest spire of Ekaterinburg Palace.

A servant had just recently informed him of the news behind his mother’s death. Across the palace, the Marian Knights of the royal kings guard had jumped into action, scouring the premises in search of the Queen’s assassin.

Who could have done such a terrible thing? The Queen was beloved by all, the young lad thought to himself as he continued to weep on the floor of his room...

...His mother had meant everything to him. For so many years, his father had been preoccupied with the many affairs of state required of a King, and he rarely saw the man that he admired most in the world. His mother had cared for him, educated him, and taught him many lessons over the duration of his short yet eventful life.

The young prince would find no comfort in knowing that his mother was now with GOD in the Seven Skies. Alas, he would have given the entire world to nestle his head against her one last time, to cherish her comforting embrace, but such was not to be.

How cruel fate is, he thought to himself as he continued to wallow in his greif.

Ser Konrad Stafyr’s arms would remain crossed, a deep frown having come upon his face as he gazes down at the Queen’s lifeless body alongside the Knight Paramount.

“What a shame… A damn, bloody shame,” He would grunt, letting out a deep sigh as a group of Marian Knights move to gingerly cover her body with a sheet.

“I remember when Milena was just a lass of sixteen, full of ambition and excitement. She saved my Duma from missing quorum once, and accompanied me on several diplomatic engagements. Heh… The way she spoke, her oratory, she could’ve almost rivaled Georg Stanimar or Terrence May in terms of how she could rouse a crowd.

I had respect for this woman, Ser Nikolaus. True, undying respect,”
He turns to face the knightly commander.

“She was a true Carrion, and deserved a better entrance into the Seven Skies than this. GOD bless her…”

Pausing for a moment, he would sign the Lorraine, before beginning to move off.

“...I suppose I must be the one to inform His Majesty. He will not be pleased. See to it that the assassin is caught.”

Heinrik de Sarkozy heard of the news, his childhood friend and cousin had perished. He was unsure of how to feel, Milena had always guided his path and told him what to do. Was he free or alone? He wasn’t sure, one thing for certain however, is that he would mourn her passing.

Far away within the chambers of a richly decorated hospital, laid Karina’s sickly frame. A letter from her father came quickly after the news of Milena’s passing. The ailed child stared blankly as her sister, Maya, read aloud to her. Remembering of when Milena had clearly lied about the craftsmanship of the cookies Karina had baked just to spare the poor girls feelings. Or the times she had sat with the Queen as she gently caressed the young child's hair.

The girl rolled over in her bed, refusing to eat for the rest of the day.

Frida would hear of the news from a servant. The girl would frown at this as she shook her head.

"I... I don't understand. Why is she dead, why could it not have been one of the peasants?" The girl would utter as she remembered the words that the two had uttered during the short time that the seven year old Gant girl had known the Queen.

Wilheim Barclay would hear upon the news, a nostalgic smile touching his lips, while he was out riding with his Brother Anton, and cousin Tylos, contributing to the war effort. As the messenger arrived, the man would pull on the reins to get the party to a halt. The queen was dead, and Wilheim felt as if friends were falling one by one, while he aged. He felt dutiless, and without a purpose, while others departed to leave him secluded in the world. He remembered Milena first striding forth proudly into the palace, during a court, while he has guarding the boy-king, and from that day, Wilheim bore great respect for Milena. He would shake his head and look at Anton. "Queen's dea'" He simply said, and ushered his horse forward.
