garentoft 9265 Share Posted March 5, 2020 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAu3q4goZow THE EAGLE'S AWAKENING, 1758 “In victoria et in proelio scientia est potentia terra de stauntonia” "Courland is not just a person, it is not just a land, it isn’t even just a name. It is an idea. You can take away the people, you can take away the land, you can take away their name, but you cannot take away their thoughts" - King Tobias I the Conqueror as he marched his garrison into the Fort of Ostwick, 1593 For the past three decades, the nights had been quiet in the Selsmire Palace. The King and Queen bedridden for longer than most of the population could remember. Yet, it was on this night that the King awoke from his deep slumber, rising for the first time in three decades, putting on his crown. He wandered to his table, writing a letter to the Continent, for the Eagle had now awoken. To all the Nations and Settlements of Arcas, My name is King Percival II of Courland. Let me introduce myself: As you know, almost a century has passed since the Staunton Uprising in 1666, when the courlanders and the haensemen forgot their past differences and became brothers, fighting shoulder to shoulder against the tyranny of the Empire of Man, ending up indeed in a defeat and with the title of King of Courland being absorbed by the Crown of Renatus-Marna. However, with the rise to power of His Imperial Majesty Godfrey II of the House of Cascadia, Holy Orenian Emperor, the House of Staunton was pardoned for their former offenses towards the Imperial Crown and my younger brother Stannis Staunton was given the Duchy of Westmarch, marking the start of a new era of peace and prosperity between the House of Staunton and the Holy Orenian Empire. I then led the courlanders to the south of Arcas, where I decided to build a capital for the Kingdom. After the workers finished building the city I then named the city as New Aleksandria in honor of the first King of Courland Aleksander I. However, not much time afterwards I suffered a terrible illness that incapacitated me physically and that has forced me to remain in my bed for decades. During all this time that I’ve been trapped within the Royal Chambers of the Selsmire Palace my firstborn son, Crown Prince Tobias Staunton, has ruled our Kingdom with wisdom through a Regency Council. During that period of time the Crownlands have grown in size and strength and many ancestral noble houses of our realm, such as the Mauntels or the Palaiologos, have already sworn their allegiance to the Crown of Courland. Finally, I announce to you all that after decades of rest I have finally managed to overcome my illness and that I now feel healthy once again. Therefore, I also solemnly announce that I have assumed the Royal Throne of the Kingdom of Courland once again and declared the Regency of the Crown Prince terminated, effective immediately. The Crown of Courland is once again more than willing to initiate diplomatic relations and to receive diplomatic envoys and ambassadors with and from all the different nations and settlements of Arcas, and is especially interested in negotiating Trade Deals that guarantee the commercial prosperity of our Realm and of all the people of Arcas. God bless the Kingdom of Courland and the courlanders. Ave Courland! With Knowledge Comes Power, HIS ROYAL MAJESTY, Percival II of the House of Staunton, King of Courland, Prince of Aleksandria, Grand Duke of Riga, Duke of Eastbourne and Eruthos, Margrave of Ostmark, Count of Gotha, Baron of Fjordham and Geatea, Lord of White Peak. IsaaKc 1240 Share Posted March 5, 2020 Judas sat in his bedroom, glancing out the window idly while he scratched at his glove-clad hands. He seemed to jump as the eagle flew through, backpedaling out of instinct until he tripped over his bed-frame and collapsed onto the sheets. He grumbled in annoyance, then pushed himself up to take the missive and read over it. “Huh,” he began, folding the letter back up, “I’ll be...‘appy to server th’ uh...th’ new Crown Prince. Per’aps uh...my, er, my prowess in thaumaturgy would uh...be of value,” he’d muse in a quiet and restless stutter. Judas then tucked the letter away in his drawer, sitting back down on the bed as he glanced down at his gray rug with indecision.
MissToni 3565 Share Posted March 5, 2020 Queen Elissa Staunton neé Mauntel had been able to free herself of the illness a day before her husband. While her body was still weak she decided she would start finding use in her life as the Queen-Consort. She had been working with her courtiers as she heard the news. Dropping all that she had in her hands to run for her King, her husband and her love. A smile like no before was seen on the mostly annoyed visage of the aged woman of sixty. Her eyes gazing upon Percival as she spoke to him. “Now my dear... We rule!”

auLune 400 Share Posted March 5, 2020 Henry received the news while pacing towards the stables, getting ready for a hunt through Suffonian Woods, after hearing what the messenger had to say, simply turned to his cousin James with a slight smirk visible on his face “Hah! Different ruler, same... crown. Let us see if they will be more... sensible this time, aye cousin?”

MunaZaldrizoti 8037 Share Posted March 5, 2020 Josephine Beauclair mulls over the news, sitting inside the dreary interior of a roadside Arcas tavernhouse. She’d gaze out and over the fields nearby, longing for a simpler life.
