Tips To Include On Your Application

Here are some tips for creating your Application;

There are so many Application being submitted to LOTC, and your about to add to the list. Well here are some tips to get yourself noticed & stand out from other Applications.

  • Use the Application template supplied by LOTC. If you don't use it you will be declined.

  • Dont pick a name like 'Andy'. I have nothing against the name Andy but its not very fitting into the RP style, pick your name based on your character. There are many 'Name generators' on the internet you can use to give you a name or some ideas.

  • Read each question on the Application template correctly, many times have I seen people right the wrong type of answer to some questions like 'What do you know about Role-playing?'

  • Tell us about yourself in questions such as 'What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?' . You need to 'sell yourself' to us, make us actually want you to be on the server, and want to pick you over other people.

  • Please please please, read the rules. It's no good accepting to the rules and two day's later being punished because you made a basic mistake.

  • Your biography, everybody's is different and unique, but here are some ideas. Make your's unique, its a roleplaying game involve things such as phobias, fears, things that your character enjoys, hobbies ect. Past, always talk about your past, try to involve events that made your character like he is now & family, what happened to them, how many siblings ect. Make sure you refer to 'The Lore' & look at the LORC Wiki about your character choice. I haven't gone into detail for the biography as i'm sure there are topics on biography's alone. I also highly recommend looking at other Applications that have been accepted to spark some ideas, you can look at mine if you wish.

  • Read 'The Lore'! i can not emphasize how much i mean this when i say READ THE LORE

  • Character Appearance, again link it to your biography. If your a cave dwarf and have been working in the mountains for years then your character isn't going to be wearing sunglasses and spedos. He going to be cut and scars. Dirty and torn clothes. Make it all link!

  • Character personality, many people like to make there character like them as in things such as temper, polite, rude, lonely ect. If you do it like you, you may be able to be more descriptive and emotional.

  • Skin, if you add a characters skin, make it link with all your Application. If you have a cave dwarf who hasn't seem the sun if 200+ years, dont make your skin look like hes just come off a holiday in the Carribean. Also a skin just shows that extra mile, the extra effort you'v put into the game.

  • Most importantly re-read! nobody wants to see an Application where there 'CAPS LOCK' button seems like its having a fit 'HeLLo mY NAmE' you get the idea. Gramma is also key, there's nothing worse than seeing an exellant Application but the basic spelling & grammer is wrong. Everybody's human and all make mistakes.

  • This is an very popular server, if you don't get a reply straight away wait 3 day's if no reply than re-post, check the rules for rules on forums.

  • Your not an menace, dont type in on your Application 'i swore to kill all Orcs' nobody likes a bully!

  • If your Application has not been accepted, PM'ing moderators is not going to get your Application viewed any quicker.

  • Please format the subheadings to each paragraph with Bold & Underline the Application team doesn't want to scroll through searching for information. And please, put each subheading with an a new paragraph. There's a saying 'you eat with your eyes first', presentation is key. Shows effort.

  • I have only seen it 1 or 2 but none the less it still needs to be reminded, if posting a link to your skin. Please take the 5 second time it takes to check the link actually works.

  • When answering a question, 'yes' is not an answer. That's lazy and quite rude to think you can get on with a 1 word answer. I agree 'yes' or 'no' may answer the question but just try and expand it. All about showing effort.

  • The meta-gaming and power-gaming question is very important as it is vital that you RP correctly to avoid doing these. If you don't know what it is go research and learn. Answer confidently and give examples to prove you clearly know what they are.

  • Role-playing questions are to prove you can RP. Put in the most effort you can without making it boring. I have made an guide on this part alone which you can find by click on this text.

Thank you for reading, I hope this helped.

Good guide but you should add something under the biography section to something like..

" If your parents where killed by orcs and you wish to kill every orc in site becuase of this. Your Application WILL be declined"

The only thing I don't understand about this is:

If you're going to tell us to use proper grammar, I would use proper grammar to do so.

Hiya sparta, if you are still active then there are a few updates that could be made concerning the new application format.

I know you are not on the app team any more, but me and you got on there at the same time and I still have this in my "Must Reads for applicants" list at the bottom of the majority of my reviews, so yeah XD

Also this one:

I've been seeing a lot of Applications with [ b] now I am 99% sure that is actually meant to be a bullet point not [ b]. Please use the bullet point format at the top. If it is meant to be [ b] then please correct me.

Is actually bold and it happens when the applicant deletes the [/b ] from their app, making the first [b ] appear. Happens with the color tag and the italics tag etc. as well.

Awesome, so I can change the tag from "a little outdated" to "up to date" soon xD

Well it is good to know you are still active man, I hope you are enjoying LotC :)
