       The Universal Union is a multipurpose, Orenian based political organization dedicated to providing protections to the working people of the Empire, lobbying political actors to influence legislation, and to deliver missives educating the public on political affairs in the Empire which are often ignored. With little political freedom in our current electoral system and the inability to participate in elections directly, the Universal Union will make a strident attempt to assist the commoner class of the Empire in the most impactful ways possible.

 

1.  ON THE POLITICAL REALM

       The Universal Union acts as a lobbying group, wherein representatives from the organization attempt to influence legislation, votes, or elections through exerting political pressure on public officials. Our lobbying division is committed to a dedicated platform negotiated upon by members, for the benefit of an ever-growing commoner class who lacks proper representation in our evolving society. We accomplish this task via public editorials covering the negative or positive actions of various politicians, organizing public demonstrations, and providing endorsements to those who fight for the rights of the commoner class. As a result, the Universal Union is hiring full-time, professional lobbyists committed to promoting our cause.

 

       Our values and positions include;

• Advocating policies which best suit the commoner, and will create a society catering to the majority
• Pushing to achieve legal third-party status, and the freedom to participate in national elections for all
• Abolish and outlaw all inhumane practices relating to slavery, wage slavery, and indentured servitude
• Ensure that a worker’s salary adequately exceeds that of their taxes
• Create a government backed bond and stock market
• Spur consumer spending, creating a functioning market which can provide adequate employment, and ensure everyone is given the opportunity to work
• Implement incentives which encourage civil participation in aspects of government such as voting and participating on the jury
• Establish public housing projects, which provide compact and cheap apartments in urban centers
• Encourage public education initiatives for every single citizen
• Advance the urban proletariat culturally and intellectually, guiding them in the practices of philosophy, history, civics, the humanities, and artisan works
• Kickstart the most massive infrastructure project in Imperial history
• Defend the civil rights of all Imperial citizens
• Implement workplace regulations to make the lives of the commoner safer and more efficient

 

2. ON THE MEDIA REALM

       The Universal Union shall sponsor our own weekly newspaper, dubbed “UNCHAINED,” and shall be distributed for two mina a copy in public squares. The ultimate goal of this publication will be the education of the masses on the matters of state and politics. These issues will include extensive coverage of both the Imperial House of Commons and the actions of provincial and local governments. Interviews of leading politicians and bureaucrats, editorials from scholars, and other information supporting the commoner class will be provided in these issues. That is why we are hiring writers and reporters, on commission for each article written.

 

3. ON THE LEGAL REALM

       Should you fancy yourself a member of the Universal Union, you may be mailed a membership card, indicating your solidarity with the rest of us belonging to commoner society. In exchange for your union dues -- which are a flat 50 mina per Saint’s month -- you will be provided with free legal counsel when challenging management, large businesses, or the state when it comes to unfair actions or practices. Additionally, our lawyers will offer workplace assistance should any member believe that an injustice has taken place, and will assist in the practice of collective bargaining.
