NotEvilAtAll 10906 Share Posted August 4, 2020 Spoiler [!] A halfling newspaper finds its way into your mailbox The Beetroot News! ~Better than the rest!~ Contents: ~Brandybrook Gaming Night Results!~ ~End of the World Meeting!~ ~Flaws in Brandybrook’s Defenses!~ ~Mysterious Note calls for ACTION!~ ~Brandybrook Gaming Night Results!~ ~A game of Push-Off Pumpkin!~ T’is year’s Gaming Night was quite a fun one! A real blast to the past that brought back a lot of good memories, no doubt! Here are the results of the games: Spleef: Taurin Gardner won the first game, with the second game resulting in a tie between me ‘n Taurin once again. Darts: Anne won with 80 points, followed by Polo with 50 points, and finally Andon with only 40 points. Neither shogging nor Push-Off Pumpkin had any official winners. ~End of the World Meeting!~ ~Gathering to discuss important matters!~ While I did not attend this meeting, it’s nigh impossible to live in Brandybrook and not be aware of what was discussed there. A large assortment of Brandybrook halflings from all walks of life gathered together to plan for the future. We are to prepare for the inevitable defense of Brandybrook against the demonic invaders who have set foot in Korvassa. We are to prepare to evacuate at a moments notice if need be, and are to learn how to fend for ourselves and perform our own medicine in the meantime. Defensive barricades have been erected across Brandybrook’s streets. Ploughs are being beaten into shovels of war. Brandybrook will not give up without a fight! ~Flaws in Brandybrook’s Defenses!~ ~Barricades near the entrance of the village~ While I do appreciate the gesture, I doubt that the defenses we have recently constructed will be of any actual use. It is far too simple to walk around them (or even over them) without much hassle. The barricades lack any sense of direction, and many key locations are left open while other places are heavily defended. Many of the barricades appear to operate in both directions, which is counterproductive to the defensive effort of the village. I would advise for the Thain and others to pick one specific area to set up proper, all-encompassing defenses that cannot be walked around or over easily. Simpler defenses can be placed elsewhere to delay the Demons, but should not be intended to be manned for very long as that would put Brandybrook’s defenders in too much risk. With these changes, the defensive capabilities of Brandybrook will be much greater. ~Mysterious Note calls for ACTION!~ A warning of a threat from the “inside” of Brandybrook has circulated. I shall print a replica of the warning’s message in this newspaper for you readers to read: “Rally! Gather, to protect Brandybrook from this threat from the inside. It is imperative that this threat is dealt with as quickly as possible, so that we may return to protecting Arcas from the demon invasion. Rally, so that we may protect those we care about, those we love. Rally, so that we may return to our peaceful way of life, happy and content. Rally, on Snow’s Maiden, so that we may repair the leaking boat that is Brandybrook.” It appears that Brandybrook is not fully safe even before the Demons have arrived! I do hope that all you readers will be present to fight on the home front! ((Event on Wednesday, 1 PM EST, 8/5/2020)) That’s all for now folks! -Filibert Applefoot, local halfling know-it-all. OOC: I have tested positive for Coronavirus, and thus I might sometimes be too sick/drowsy to attend certain events. I have already missed the End of the World meeting due to this, and it is possible that I will miss more. Brandybrook is doing very well right now, even if I personally am not. If you are reading this, and are considering creating your first halfling character, I strongly suggest that you do so. You can find Brandybrook just to the right of Aegrothond. The path to the village should be marked with a sign inside of Aegrothond’s nation tile. Have a good day, everyone!
