A CALL TO ARMS

“It is in these times when unity of free men is needed the most.”

-Robert Vernon

The rain pounded against the cobbled walls of Caer Vernon. As thunder rocked the swamp of Esbec, it would be clear that nothing good could be afoot on this night. The only force to combat the sea of ne’er do wells, it seems, was the valiant footmen and cavalry of The Red Stripes.

The Hangman ilk, ever so weak in their demeanor and cancerous in their nature, launched an assault on the elven hamlet of Siramenor last night. The bandits, however, made a grave mistake underestimating the compound might of Elven Magic and Kaedreni Steel.

Shortly after the arrival of The Red Stripes, the Hangmen, vastly outgunned and outnumbered, were swift to cower behind a nearby stone. Their cowardice allowed for the valiant Kaedreni Mercenaries to secure the elven civilians, through and through. Bolts flew, magic was cast, and at last, the Hangmen fled the town in fear. A round of ale was had between man and elf alike that night, celebrating what was a clear victory for the good of the realm.

To those free men who so see our cause to be a true one and wish to aid us in our ventures, further a notice to Caer Vernon.

Good Cyril would hear of these men's deeds around Owynsburg - he would reach out to them, sending a letter right away to the Albarosan compatriot!

“Ey? So an outnumbered force of Hangmen attacked your town for a while before simply leaving when they realised ye wouldn’t open the gates or somethin’? Come on, yeh can make a better propaganda post than that?” Matt would sigh, shaking his head

"A marvelous endeavor, indeed," decreed the young Dowager, wielding an ornate fan as she spoke to the ladies Charlotte and Laurenne. "Pray tell, if you were both men of genteel stock, would you join as I would?"

Robert Vernon would take the letter from Father Cyril's messenger, breaking open the wax seal...

"Oh thank goodness you have returned home safe and sound, frère!" An auvergne Lady with flaxen hair called out as she hurried down the stairs leading up to the city, in order to greet her brother. Her gaze soon turned towards the Dowager Viscountess, her lips briefly curling up into a smile after having embraced the adolesence. "Ah, oui. Strengthening our army, our soldiers and our motherland with our service was something I had always dreamed of when I was merely une petie fille."

To he who leads the Red Stripes,

Lo to you from Owynsburg! We heard of your exploits, and I have been greatly intrigued. I hear your men are of Kaedreni stock - if true I must ask your assistance on behalf of the Bishpric of Ves.

Atop Mont St Catharine, there are a series of wayshrines I have set up, and I shall be calling the clergy to come for a pilgrimage. Nefarious operators might seek to harm us as we gather in such numbers, and so it is to you I beg the question - would you lend your sword to a righteous cause?

Should you be willing, I would be greatly appreciative - and willing to meet right away.

Faithfully yours,

Fr. Cyril Eloi Halcourt, Bishop of Ves

Robert Vernon would be utterly confounded by the man's ramblings.

Robert Vernon would pen a letter in return, sealing it with his signet ring of House Vernon. He'd entrust Leufroy II d'Amaury, his faithful second-in-command, with delivering the letter to Father Cyril.
