This handbook is designed to make it easier for new people to try out Church roleplay. Below are the key points that fall into the overall role of the Church of the Canon. With this guide you will be able to understand, and perhaps learn how certain organs of the Church actually work, what kinds of roleplays exist, various ways of interacting with people, and in general about the Church itself. The Church of the Canon represents the community of all believers on the server, those who are followers of God and His word. The goal of the Church is to achieve unity between the Creator and His creation, to bring the world and man out of his fallen and limited existence into the freedom and fullness of the Divine life, into participation in the Divine perfections. The first iteration of the Church of the Canon was called the “Temple of the True Faith”, and was formed by the passing on of the Scrolls of Virtue and Spirit by Exalted Owyn.Though at the time, the Temple was under the authority of the Holy Emperor, it was later made independent by Exalted Siegmund after his delivery of the fourth and final scroll, the Scroll of Auspice. To honor this culmination of God’s prophecy for humanity, the Temple was rebranded as the Church of the Canon. Who are Canonists? Canonists embrace the truth of the Holy Scrolls which were delivered by the Exalted, and the Church which was established by Exalted Owyn. Canonists worship only one god, the God of the Holy Scrolls, and accept only the High Pontiff as inheritor of the spiritual leadership of the Exalted. By following the laws set out for them in the Scroll of Virtue, and by obeying the Church which guards those laws, Canonists seek to honor God. Church Administration Like any institution, the Church has its own administration which makes it what it is. Whatever the administration, it is responsible for the work of the Church and its development over time. The administration of the Church consists mostly of Priests, Bishops, Cardinals and the High Pontiff, with the High Pontiff being the head of the Church and there can be only one. A detailed explanation of the administration follows shortly. II. Becoming a part of the Church Ordination of a priest, Basilica of Ascend of Ex.Godfrey, Providence How to begin? What everyone should do, who wants to try their hand at church roleplay, is to either: Approach the clergymen in RP - if you notice a clergyman in a city who visibly reminds you that he is a member of the church, you can approach him and start a conversation about how to become a member of the church. [Look for these people in general!] Join the Church of the Canon discord server, as every important thing/event starts from there. [PM repl1ca#4970 for invitation] This was the first step by which you actually learn the way to ordination as a priest. Once you’ve inquired and gotten enough information, and also joined the Church Discord Server, it’s time for a little work to be put in to become a priest. The next thing that is obligatory for ordination as a priest is to write a thesis - a statement that clearly identifies the topic being discussed, including the points discussed in the paper, and which is written for a specific audience. The thesis itself should be written on the topic of something that is either currently happening in the world, or about a problem, a specific thing, and so on. After the writing of the thesis is completed, the document in which it is written is sent to the bishop who will review it, evaluate it and judge whether it is good enough material for ordination as a priest. In most cases, each thesis passes successfully. Let's take the scenario that you became a priest. From there, everything is easier. The next thing that is probably the most interesting is choosing a skin for your character. Many skins are already listed on the Church Discord Server, so you have a choice! Advancement in the ranks Of course, like every institution on this server, the Church has ranks that determine the position of individuals. Like any other institution, promotion is a normal thing in the Church, and it is deserved in a slightly different way than, for example, in politics or the military. Every man should show pious deeds throughout his life, proving that he fights for God and His word, following only His way. Such deeds, also patience, effort and work, give much importance to one's role in the Church, which later means advancement. When it comes to promotion, we need to know who can promote an individual. The archbishops of a diocese, together with other bishops, have the right to make a priest out of an acolyte. This is possible simply because this acolyte was probably assigned to a diocese controlled by that archbishop, along with the bishops. The High Pontiff alone has the right to proclaim a priest as a bishop, since the High Pontiff is the head of the Church and has every power in the Church, where neither archbishops nor cardinals have the power to proclaim new bishops. The Cardinals are again chosen by the High Pontiff, with the proviso that he is the head of the Church, and only he can elect his possible successors. III. The Structure of the Church The First Diet of Albarosa, Basilica of St.Henrikev, Karosgrad. Composition of the Church The main composition of the Church is a vital part of itself, which includes every group and subgroup of people who have different jobs related to the Church. The church institution would not be able to function without certain groups, which are in charge of its growth, better communication with the people, as well as other general affairs related to the Church. The vital groups are listed down below, which are also the pillars that hold the Church in one place. However, the hierarchy of the Holy Mother Church looks like this: High Pontiff - the head of the Church, Vicar of GOD. Cardinals - appointed by High Pontiff for life. Archbishops - A bishop of higher rank or office. Archbishops are in the highest of the three traditional orders of bishops, priests and deacons. Bishops - An ordained, or appointed member of the Canon clergy who is generally entrusted with a position of authority and oversight. Priests - A religious leader authorized to perform the sacred rituals of a religion, in this case, Canonism. Acolytes - an assistant or follower assisting the celebrant in a religious service or procession. Acolyte is trained either by an archbishop, bishop, or ordained priest. The Curia The Curia is an official body that governs the Holy Mother Church. The Curia is an integral part of the Church, consisting of 6 essential titles, that is, essential organs that assist the Church in its development: The Vice-Chancellor - Manager of internal affairs on His Holiness' behalf. Basically, when the High Pontiff is either absent or at a given moment, day, or month unable to perform his duties, the Vice-Chancellor takes his place until the High Pontiff returns. The current Vice-Chancellor is Manfried Cardinalis Providentia [_GoldWolf_#9851] The Pontifical Secretary - Spokesperson of His Holiness, author and proofreader. The current Pontifical Secretary is Benedict Cardinalis Jorenus [Piov#9173] The Auditor of the Tribunal - Pontifical Judge and Prosecutor, which handles legal stuff and everything related to the Canon Law. The current Auditor of the Tribunal is Monsignor Vicary Armas [frill#6710] The Prelate of the Clergy - Head of all priests, who also handles recruitment and placements/events of the clergy. The current Prelate of the Clergy is Alfred Episcopus Henrikev [repl1ca#4970] The Prelate of the Sisterhood - Does the same job as the Prelate of the Clergy, but for the Sisterhood, which consists of Nuns. The current Prelate of the Sisterhood is Mother Roxelana [axluh#0187] The Pontifical Chamberlain - Caretaker of all Churches and private affairs of His Holiness, aiding in such the events as healing individuals. The current Pontifical Chamberlain is Father Carlos [Proddy#6458] Apostolic-General - The Head of Pontifical Army, whose responsibility is to appoint, promote and train the new guards of the Supreme Order of Ex.Owyn. The current Apostolic-General is Armand-Philippe [LithiumSedai#2394] College of Cardinals The College of Cardinals is the body of all cardinals of the Holy Mother Church. This group of cardinals makes up the Pentarchy, in which, judging by the name itself, there are five cardinals of the Holy Mother Church. The following members make up the Pentarchy/College of Cardinals: Ailred Cardinalis Reinmar, Kingdom of Haense Amadeus Cardinalis Nescia, Free Trade State of Sutica Benedict Cardinalis Jorenus, Kingdom of Haense Manfried Cardinalis Providentia, Holy Orenian Empire Pelagius Cardinalis Albarosa, Holy Orenian Empire Abbey of the Bl.Wigbrecht Schulze The Abbey of the Bl.Wigbrecht Schulze is located within the Basilica of the Ascend of Exalted Godfrey. Religious life in an abbey may be monastic. An abbey may be the home of an enclosed religious order or may be open to visitors. Currently, the abbey does not have many members, which gives new people to try out roleplay as a monk, and maybe one day as the main abbot. The official Church Lore The Library in Basilica of Ascend of Ex.Godfrey, Providence Important Documents We have already reached the part of the guide where it becomes important to read some things, in order to either more easily understand something about the Church, or to learn and convey some facts and acts into the roleplay of our character. Having already mentioned them, we must note that both hymns and prayers can be used for various things.
