A Public Service Announcement

No matter where you are, no matter how private you thought it was or how safe you were from unwelcome solicitations, a crazed man runs at you and shoves a parchment into your hands, before dashing off to his next unsuspecting victim. It reads:

"Dear reader,

In the interests of stopping this current epidemic of ethnographical misnomers, the Barclay Foundation for Accurate Ethnic Representation has produced the following guide and clarification on commonly mistaken terms pertaining to ethnicities and the lands from which they hail:

  • Hanseti(noun) - A kingdom, now part of the Dual Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska, otherwise known as Haense.
  • Hansetian(noun; adjective) - (1) A denizen of Hanseti, or someone who is otherwise culturally Hansetian(Hansetian culture being similar to Waldenian for those unfamiliar with the former); (2) pertaining to Hanseti.
  • Haense(noun) - Hanseti-Ruska.
  • Haeseni(collective noun; adjective) - (1) The people of Hanseti-Ruska; (2) pertaining to Hanseti-Ruska.
  • Ruska(noun) - A kingdom, now part of the aforementioned dual kingdom.
  • Ruskan(noun; adjective) - (1) A denizen of Ruska; (2) pertaining to Ruska.
  • Raevir(collective noun; adjective) - (1) The people tracing cultural descent from the Aegean Raev or, more broadly, Ruska; (2) pertaining to Raev or Ruska.

'Hanseti' is not a noun referring to the people of Hanseti. 'Hansetii' is not a word. Please stop making these errors in your publications before I murder-suicide you, your editors, and myself. Thank you."

Ailred beats himself in the face with a rock at the thought. Looking in the mirror, he finds it an improvement.
