The Imperial Palace Ballroom, c. 1820

A N N O   D O M I N I 1820

Penned by the hand of The Imperial Palace Scribes

To the subjects of The Holy Orenian Empire, it is with considerable exhilaration that the retinue of the

Imperial Palace invites those allied with, and living within, the Holy Orenian Empire to a night of Anthosian themed merriment. The Office of the Majordomo wishes to hold a costume ball where everyone dresses as those before us would have, the dress code consists of period gowns from the times of old. The ladies of the court are urged to dress as the past’s most fashionable courtly ladies, such as Her Imperial Majesty, Lorena Christina of Augustin and Her Royal Majesty, Anabel of Curonia.

TIMETABLE

To inaugurate the ball an array of refreshments and hor d'oeuvres will be served for the guests to graze over whilst mingling with one another prior to the ball’s main events. Soon thereafter an orchestra of minstrels are to perform so that those attending may have only the best music whilst they dance and continue their jovial conversation. Once the dancing has proceeded for some time the Majordomo, Countess Renzfeld, and Governess will call the guests’ attention where those brave enough may choose to present themselves to be judged on their fashion choices as they pertain to the nights theme for a chance to win a prize of 100 mina from the Imperial Palace Reserve.

IN NOMINE DEI,

HIH, Amadea Ulyssa of Pompurelia,

Countess of Renzfeld

HE, Anna Henrietta of Provins,

Governess of the Palace and Baroness-Dowager of Carrington

Mary Casimira Othaman nee d’Arkent of Carrington,

Majordomo of the Palace

"Midieval - huh ?" a scholar seemed concerned, and confused by the term. He wondered what other fantasies would be dreamed by such freaks. He prayed to God - singular and solitary deity.

"Uhhhh.. What's a Medieval??" said a grimed Kaedrini as he worked the fields of Monte Lucienanus, perking up a light bundle of wheat. The Peasant then inquired of his friend, Rob - handing him the pamphlet, "Rob! What's a medieval..?" the man merely stood there, "I dunno, must be a mix of the words - Medicine, and - Evil. Probably connoting to a foul evil beast of whom breaths medicine out of it's snout." "That makes sense.. Yeah! An evil medicine monster." the peasant then stuffed the invitation into his grubby front centre pocket, unbeknownst to the exact meaning of 'Medieval'.

Adalina the Body Snatcher pondered on what the **** 'medieval' meant. She scratched at her scalp, going to look out her window in her undisclosed location. "The real criminal is the person who wrote this fake term on the bloody invite." She monologued, wondering what the definition of 'medieval' was.

The Governess then informed to any bystander with a shout perhaps to the world.

"The court uses the word medieval to simulate our Anthosian roots, just as I held an Anthosian fair in my younger years."

With that she seemed to wonder why everyone was in such a tiffy about a word her daughter made up.

"I believe medieval is a term to express how... fashionable and fancy something is!" exclaimed Zita, the aging court mage. "Mary, dear! Your dress is SO medieval!" she then smiled the sun's smile after having given the great world another piece of WISDOM.

Boreal, the very tired and unhinged gardener read over the missive, invite, they couldn't quite put it, although the mentioning of costumes seemed to get their mood up, Boreal smiled brightly, already thinking of the ways they'd cause mayhem with their newest designs "it'll be... interesting." muttered the pale one, to no one in particular, well, at least no one that could be seen near them, the cloud of butterflies that trailed their every stance fluttered by the paper, as they made it into an origami of a frog and stuffed it into one of their many, many pockets.
