This past Saint’s Month, the matter of the Voidal Tear on the borders of Oren was brought to the Chancellery’s attention by the insight of The Honorable Baroness Woldzmir, who is undoubtedly versed in a wisdom of magic beyond our comprehension. Immediate action was directed to the ISA to determine the scope, immediacy, and serious nature of this threat - efforts that continue even now.

I must begin by warning that this is a precarious situation, one that we believe could threaten the livelihood of not only the patriots of our country but of the global Almaris - similar to the perils that have become the death of continents numerous before the contemporary era. A voidal scar is not to be disregarded as merely an inconvenience to our quotidian lifestyles, and its occurrence simultaneous with the return of Azdromoth should not cast an idle conscience on the Imperial Citizen. What dangers lurk beyond and within our borders shall be met fiercely, definitely, with the protection of our GOD and our EMPEROR always at our side.

Over the last few months a plan has been manifested under confidentiality as the Cabinet sought further clarification of the threat ensuring minimal disturbance to the population. Joint efforts between Imperial and Savoyard soldiers has been pivotal to a deepened understanding that now allows us to cement this plan into action.

This government, indeed our nation, is not a passive receiver of that which profanes and offends. Where some nations must be content to hold in the defense, our Empire is a forward nation of ‘Providence’ and shall go decisively on the offense, as with any threat against our people, not allowing any threat to wrest the initiative from our grip.

All members of the Orenian population should be privy to the following notices and actions taken by this government;

First, the Baroness Woldzmir shall be placed in a special advisory office to the ISA to investigate and provide directly to them that information necessary to contain, and eventually defeat, the spread and purge of this voidal tear. Citizens of magical talent are encouraged to contribute to this effort, and those working under the privy of the Baroness shall have special access to the voidal scaring for investigation. I am further asking the Society of Saint Adrian, made of the greatest Imperial minds of our era, to help resolve this problem - among other matters related to the arcane.

Second, the ISA has been partially mobilized to our eastern coast where they shall establish further fortifications to defend against and conduct counter-attacks in conjunction with those magical offices working through Baroness Woldzmir. A full scale-plan has been developed by our military to ensure the defense of our citizenry and the East Hub to ensure the free flow of commerce and travel within the region. Civilian evacuations at this point are voluntary, farmlands and estates that have been scarred may seek reprieve from the Home Office to receive refugee housing for those that choose to depart now.

Lastly, while we know this scarring is the result of the implosion of the floating elven city of Ando Alur, we remain committed to determining those responsible for the resulting tear that now scars our landscape and infringes upon the livelihood of our citizens. We look forward to cooperation amongst our neighbors in sharing what we know in this and all endeavors related to this matter.

Questions regarding this matter may be directed to the Office of the Chancellery, routed to the Vice-Chancellor.

May GOD save us, the EMPEROR protect us

His Imperial Excellency

"In these troubled times, I am lucky to have a Vice-Chancellor with such independent initiative," muses the Archchancellor to her Treasury Minister @CharmingCavalier. "I look forward to seeing you work closely with Mr. Melphestaus, Henry."

Drasus had not yet laid eyes upon the hellscape that has plagued the lands South of East Fleet. Of course he had heard plenty of accounts and tavern rumors but such were just stories to him at that point. It was a kind fortune of the Heavens that the destruction had not spread much further than it did, and that the Dwarves had managed to find reprieve in their mighty underground keeps- he would suspect the porous mountain range took the brunt of the corruption and blast when Ando fell.

The Vicechancellor had asked the Home Office to update the land survey for the South as a means to get ahead of whatever calamity might seep unto Imperial soil, and it was a good thing he did. On what was supposed to be a routine stroll through the agrian countryside, giving greetings to the hard working Petrine farmers, turned out to be a distressing affair for the injured Home Secretary. As he came upon the newly renovated Destiny's Crossroad tavern, billowing smoke emanated from a wheat field just past the hedgerows that bordered the Emperor's Road.

In his youth he would have sprung into action, hoping to fight the fire or at least whoever started it. But as he peeked his head over the foliage wall a brutal sight of soldiers fighting for their lives against an otherworldly magic presented itself. An Imperial State Army patrol must have been pulled into an engagement with an unknown foe to Drasus. He thought that it was unlikely that they would have had time to send word for backup and by the looks of things, injuries were mounting upon the battle hardened warriors of the Empire. With what little Drasus could do, his physical state ruined by the hubris of his own alchemical adventures, he prepared a message and sent it directly to the aviaries of the Bastion. From behind his metal mask that disguised an unrecognisable face, Drasus muttered . . .

"Godspeed comrades, the cavalry is coming."

[!] A simple letter is sent to the ministry

"It is a pleasure to observe Imperial forces advance upon the threat. I, God willing, shall convince the many members of the monastic School from the old continent Aeldin to give ceremony and prayer for fortune to such peoples that move against the threat of Void. But to launch offensive against such phenomena, for Void is not entity - it is not thought, neither is it ultimately a force, rather it is a lack that, when made to mix with the temporal world which we perceives, corrupts and unhinges, necessitates understanding of the foe, and from where it emerges. The Voidal threat, or rather, the Question of Nothing (as the void is the true form of Nothing), is the greatest issue, the gravest of things that dangles above our heads like a black blade. For  the Void to consume a soul fully means that such a soul ceases to be - it therein, is violated, and loses its chance to reach the Seven Skies. This, is the cruelest fate, for it is the separation from God. I weep now, to think that such a fate is possible, that such damnation can befall the souls of the valiant. So here I make my plea to the ministry - do not only seek to fight the Nothing that hassles us from the mound of fallen Ando-Lur, that Pale-City, that dread-city, New-Mordskov (as the prior had felled a realm in which we once lived), but seek also to deter any more Voidal eruptions. Know from what they emerge. From who. All mages of Void have this power, they own this threat, and for each of their weavings, they cast, they pry harder and harder at the chasm of pure nothing. Every spell comes at the price of a prod, a small cut over the tapestry of the Veil that separates Temporal and Voidal, and yet a cut nonetheless. Check them, and know the risk they pose at the very least, lest we risk our souls.

- Jean. "
