REGARDING THE ROMSTUN-CATHALON AFFAIR

[Posters marked with the Seal of Arichsdorf would be spread about the Empire]

It has come to my attention that the Romstun family has been implicated in the death of the Duke of Cathalon. The Romstun family are tenants of mine, living as landed men-at-arms in a villa within my lands in the Grenz. As their Overlord, I declare under no uncertain terms that the residents of the Grenz will tolerate no anarchy and lawlessness on the Frontier.

I have spoken with the many members of the Romstun family concerning the death of the Duke of Cathalon. The Duke was by no means a friend of mine, I am sure many remember our infamous fight in the square of providence. Nonetheless, he was an honourable man, there are few who would have the gall to shoot me in front of my warriors, much less to fight side by side with me at the Southfields. A great Empire is built not by pen wielders and palace eunuchs but by honourable lords of the sword and the bow. The Duke of Cathalon was such a man.

With that being said, there seems to be more to the death of the Duke than initially meets the eye. I ask the Emperor to summon the Romstuns to court to face justice and to present evidence in their defence. On my honour, the Romstuns will attend the trial, should they fail to then they will be stripped of their lands and properties within Arichsdorf.

In the interim, I guarantee the safety of the Romstun. Provided they do not commit crimes or disturb the peace, members of the Romstun family are not to be arrested or assaulted until the trial.

The Duke of Azor tapped the missive as it arrived in his office, the death of his friend still affecting him, a long sigh emitted as he thought of the fallen Duke of Cathalon. Joseph d'Azor cleared his throat calling to his aide. "Send for Inquisitor Elijah Keen..."

Remon read over the missive, musing. Evidence is rather difficult to come by.. and very easy to fake.

Laurentina shifted within her seat. She would be lying if she said she did not wish to see the both of them dangling by a rope - but justice by a court must be served beforehand.

Yet again, she found herself praying before a depiction of her patron saint and asked for justice to be served and for forgiveness, for such dark thoughts don't usually appear within the Helvets' mind.

Daphne Dabber visits her great-grandfather, Donald Dabber’s grave. “Oops!” She cried in a thick lisp as she accidentally burnt her hand on the candle!

Lars the dung farmer proceeds to dispose of the Romstun's waste. He noted the significant volume of soiled pantaloons.

"I can't read m'lord!" he would state when pressed on the issue.

Alec was a simple man of the earth, and out of the noble men with their fancied coats it was Manfred who often stoop up for the common people and their ideally sense of penance, justice, and honesty. He respected that. So when the local priest which arrived once a week to spread news and prayer told Alec of a new missive penned by Manfred, Alec was excited to hear.

But as he heard the way the words were phrased, he scrunched his nose. The Romstuns and murder? Was it true? He had long ignored the petty politics of the higher social strata, but this involved friends. Close ones. One's which had not but a few days prior came to him seeking new appendages... and revenge.

As the Friar left he resumed his work, tending to fields and fixing up the stomped earth but remained confused, perhaps even worried over the news. Clear skies and troubled minds, never a dull moment. Not even in the country.
