Moderation: Reports

 

Reports are a tool used by both Moderation and the Community to ensure LoTC is an enjoyable, fair, and safe environment for all. We encourage players to reach out to Moderation with any questions, but for the sake of documentation and to allow for the most informed decision-making, we ask that ALL reports are made on the forums. Any and all information regarding on how to make a report, what kind of report you should make, how to make a report, and certain restrictions for reporting can be found on the forums here: https://www.lordofthecraft.net/forums/forum/326-reports/ 

 

There are currently 4 kinds of reports; public reports, private reports, staff reports, and safety reports. Public reports are viewable to the whole community, Private reports are only viewable by the reporter and Moderation, Staff reports are only viewable to Moderation Managers, and Safety reports are only viewable to Admins.

 

Public Reports:

Public Reports are a tool used by players and staff to settle OUT-OF-CHARACTER disputes. Players are encouraged to attempt to resolve a reported incident between those applicable before Moderation gets involved to issue a verdict. 

 

Keep in mind there are some guidelines to follow when making a report.

• Cropped screenshots are not considered valid evidence.

• Evidence older than 3 weeks (21 days) may be considered invalid.

• Reports containing disturbing or sensitive material should be made in a Private Report

• False accusations or uncivil behavior on a report is also bannable.

• You may report behaviour on official mediums, aka in-game & Discord & forums.

  • If there is supplementary information from other mediums, please include it only if it is significant.

 

Moderation has also updated the Public Report form with additional Fields to fill. These are;

• Player(s) being reported (List of WHOM is accused of breaking the rules)

• Rule(s) broken (What you believe to be the rules that were broken)

• Player(s) involved (Players that may have additional evidence in regards to the report and the rules broken)

• Desired Result of Report (What you hope to achieve with the report)

Private Reports:

Private reports serve the same purpose as Public Reports but are reserved for reports that could contain disturbing, sensitive material, or situations depicting harassment and slander. It is important to note that anything that falls under our Safety Policy must be reported in a Safety Report. Private Reports can only be viewed by the player reporting and Moderation. Private Reports have recently been changed to allow for the reporting player to see them and add any additional evidence they may have. A Report that does not meet the criteria of a Private Report will be refused. If the Private Report is refused due to its contents not meeting the criteria, the player will be asked to make a Public Report instead. Moderation will not reveal your involvement in a Private Report or make your report public without your consent.

 

Staff Reports:

Staff reports are meant as a means for players to report Staff members in relation to regular rule breaking or in cases of abuse of position (Ex: Pex abuse). This affords the reporter anonymity from members of the reported member’s team. Staff reports are optional, players may report publicly or make use of the Staff Report form. Examples of an abuse of position/power can be found in the Staff Report form. Examples of such are : “…biased judgment, mishandling permissions, or other foul actions on their part for personal gain.” Staff reports can only be seen by Team Management and Admins.

 

 

Safety Reports:

Safety reports can be made either by sending an email to the Admin Inbox: [email protected] or by contacting an Admin via Discord or the Forums. Safety reports are a matter of community safety and use our Safety Policy as a guideline. Our Safety Policy can be found here. Safety Reports are entirely handled by Administration. Only Admins will see and give verdict on the report. For more information on what constitutes a Safety Report, contact Administration. The preferred method of contact is through the Admin Inbox.
