TheTri 379 Popular Post Share Posted April 15 (edited) So, I haven't played the server actively for around 2 years, and I don't know if anybody who I played with is still active either; because of this, I don't know if this really constitutes as a goodbye since I don't play, but there's something I wanted to talk about anyway. I dumped thousands of hours into this community between the ages of 12-18 years of age. I was on the story team, banned for abusing story team privilege, got a few pieces of lore implemented, etc. I've been around. I'm now 20 years old and just received a job offer for a high finance role at my dream firm despite having no "in" and going to a pretty average university, which is extremely rare. The first thing I did was reach out to all my family and friends that have helped me along the way, and for some reason the thought popped into my mind: "What about LoTC?" Playing this server is definitely NOT something I boast about, however I do wholly believe that this community developed my ability to write, articulate my words, and made me mature faster than my peers. I think these are the main determinant factors I possess that help me stand out and accomplish my goals. Since joining this server, I've really internalized the idea that you can realize your dreams, no matter how farfetched, as long as you really set your mind to it, and I wouldn't have been able to do so without being privy to a platform which is so conducive to creativity. While I have spent more hours than I would like to admit idling on the server, I've also accomplished so much since joining it, whether that be losing over 50 pounds, finding a beautiful girlfriend that will do anything for me, or landing my dream job. So, even though I don't quite play anymore, I still owe the server as a whole and so many members of its community a huge thanks. I wish you all the best, and will always have you in the back of my mind as I make this scary transition into adulthood. I don't want to make this some huge block-post reflecting on my time, just a genuine extension of appreciation for what this server has done for me. I would do anything to go back to being a little kid logging in for the first time to play my elf character with 2x2 pixel eyes. Jentos 6886 Share Posted April 15 Based. I think we used to RP all the way back in the days? I'm nowhere near finished my time at university but I can definitely boast to a similar experience in the server. It develops you in a very special way - good and bad. I think as a hobby, LOTC can really help people learn written skills as well as expand their creativity. And personally, I've enjoyed LOTC to develop philosophical thought and critical thinking through some of my characters. This server really is what we make of it. Fortune be with you Tri, good luck!
NotAPan 465 Share Posted April 15 The RP plans you made and the shenanigans we did were some of the best times I had in the server. I'm so glad to hear that you've made it out there, and hope more successes come to you in the future. (your 2x2 eyes ascended character was peak)

squakhawk 7955 Share Posted April 15 we used to hang out a lot in G2P back in the day, and you were always so hilarious man. Glad to see you've progressed and continued to move up in life. I feel like the old friendgroup all has; moving up in the world and achieving careers. Thanks for all the laughs and times we shared together. I'm glad you can reflect positively on what you got from the server, and what you learned about life and yourself in that process. See you when I see you bro. Take it easy man.

Zacho 1742 Share Posted April 16 I love you like my estranged son-brother and I am very genuinely glad to hear you doing well all around, I entirely agree with your view and am on the same page. LOTC, love it or hate it, helped me grow in ways I never realized until I got older, ranging from being incredibly literate to social skills. I am really happy to see another person articulate the good that can come from this community, in a time when there is a lot of bad. It is all a matter of perspective and genuinely, wholeheartedly, good job dude. Hope to keep in contact with you for years to come!
K_rusader 378 Share Posted April 18 Hey man though I never got to know you, I find you story highly relatable. I guess now that I look back on it LOTC does teach you a few lessons especially when it comes to being social. However, I feel like a lot of people use LOTC to fill a lack of social interaction in real life. To anyoneone reading this who doesn't have many IRL friends and haven't really taken a break longer than 6 months please do trust me you will realize it once you do. After quitting the server in August 2022 I noticed that I was able to achieve many social goals that I had. I have had a lot of new experiences and have made a lot of new friends as well as I have noticed that my physical fitness improved similar to your situation. Best of luck in your endeavors going forward I hope that you are able to achieve your goals and live a fulfilling life!
