Explanation

 

Normally, I wouldn't make a report on something this benign of a nature. Metagaming typically isn't a huge deal, as it's hashed out between players with little to no argument, and most of the time is a simple mistake without any malicious intent. It's a little different this time, because my character is influential in Haelun'or, and rather than be recognized by someone he is close with and sees on a daily basis, he was recognized by someone he's seen all of three times, the longest time they saw each other, he was wearing a helmet. This is a problem for my character and the roleplay I still can do in his home nation because if my character is found to have associations with a bandit group, it could mean banishment or even death for the character. Again, if it was a legitimate investigation, and he was spotted by someone who did really know who he was, I would have no problems as that is the consequence with this kind of roleplay. This feels unearned, and seems mostly as a malicious action done against a player xo31 doesn't like.  

 

While not exactly relevant to the metagaming itself, this piece of evidence may help to build a case against xo31.

Upon entering Celian'or, my character was met with this reaction, 4/4 times he did so in the span of 20 minutes. 

It was rather odd behavior to simply attack my character on sight, with no roleplay or prior interaction. It seems moreso like an effort to kill my character and win, rather than advance the story at large. It is certainly a valid style of roleplay, were my character's identity truly known. xo31's character has met mine a total of three times, and one of those times my character was wearing a helmet. To say that he could recognize my character, 2 years later after seeing him again in a while, with a mask on, on sight is quite ridiculous. I only figure now he recognized my character on sight. It is true that my character is wearing a bandit skin, but the group he is apart of has had a long history with Celia'nor, and almost every time has been allowed in by assumingly high-ranking members of the city. To attack someone wearing a bandana on sight, with no prior emotes of speaking to them or trying to defuse the situation could possibly be valid in roleplay, but it certainly isn't building towards a narrative.

 

In the first encounter, our characters had a short conversation, about that he is wanted, and he must leave his tavern in Kaethul. My character was not wearing a helmet at this time, but did not introduce himself. Their second encounter, was held in the same tavern, two ooc days after. For this encounter, my character was wearing a helmet, and only then introduced himself as Maethor.  This was their longest interaction, having a conversation about the politics of Haelun'or, before Arthur claimed he was going to burn the tavern down, and kill my character. The third time they interacted, was 6 in character years later, where on sight, he connected to the void after spotting my nametag through a wall. The situation was defused, and a total of 5 emotes were spent looking at my character.

 

Two incharacter years later, the situation mentioned prior happened, where as my character rolled up to Celia'nor, and was casted at on sight by xo31's character.

 

After my character had an interesting interaction, he again came forth, and cut it short. Again, not really any problems have occured up until now, but it certainly isn't the most clean or fun roleplay to be apart of while he has been involved. Now, he then turns to one of my characters friends, who is wearing the same bandana as my character colored a little darker, and emotes that my character is the military general of Haelun'or. I had problem with this, because I don't think there's a clear enough basis for the bandit and the character's real identity to be linked together. There are no distinguishing features like a scar, and most of my character's skin was covered save for his eyes and forehead. Try recoginzing your coworkers with a covid mask on! Even if you knew their builds, bulky padding like plate armor could make it difficult to recognize them onsight, ESPECIALLY, if you aren't face to face.  The arguement isn't that he can't be recognized, it's rather that xo31's character would not be able to, they've not been face to face ever, nor were they even face to face WITH my character's mask on.

 

I had problem with this encounter, so I tried to bring it up to him to see if we could rectify the situation. He refused to back down, and said my character could be recognized because of his 'pale ass skin' 'hairline' and 'he knew my character's name'. He also claimed my character said he was important, my character said he was well known. While the two are similar, it's very distinct to be important and well known. The two are simply different things, and can go hand in hand, but also can be seperate. 

 

tl:dr-could you recognize someone you've met 3 times, seperated by a good 2 years, then 5 years, with a mask on from 20+ blocks of distance away?

ok, so, your character walked into arthur's tavern in kaethul, flexed his rank, like all those years ago, specifically had an interaction with Arthur and Nataya, the two people's names he gathered. arthur didn't recognize your character based off of his appearance or the half of his face, although that was somewhat part of it, he recognized it from walking backwards and people emoting crucial evidence towards arthur- you also left our their brief interaction where they looked at eachother face to face and your character punched arthur in the face, and also where your character walked into celia'nor and sat outside of a gate while my character stared clearly at him from the other side.

i could recognize someone that got in my face, punched me, bragged about being the general of haelun'or, stood infront of me for a solid few minutes as a crime suspect, who I was THEN informed was an important figure, an elf supremacist, his name was known throughout the realm, and it was also made personal by the 'he knows arthur and nataya by name', these two characters rarely hung out in public together and the kaethul tavern was one of the few places where they did so. if there's any further questions feel free to respond

side fact: sorry for my shitty ass emotes, i usually type small ones like that when im trying to incite combat and i dont expect u to actually stay for it lmao, not gonna type out an essay just for you to walk away.

Besides the fact that your story changed from the first time I talked to you-it seems like you're just putting things together to avoid a punishment as none of your original points are here, I will humor you and say you and Ceru'wyn found out who he was together.

 

You failed to explain why you connected on sight, four times in a row at random ferryman. You've not done this before, and in fact you didn't connect on sight to the other Ferryman who was right next to you, wearing the same bandana.

i dont really have any proof here- it'd be quite hard to gather- but just for response sake i am almost certain it was, and if it wasn't, its a pretty funny coincidence that the irp evidence lines up

Hi I was there. Will take this down if asked by mods.

 

It was Maethor. Maethor entered the tavern, and was bragging. Nataya and Sydney mocked and antagonized him the entire time, due to his elf elitism stuff, and Nataya said "hey Arthur close the gates" as a joke, which led to him leaving. Genuinely cannot remember if he had a helmet on at the time, but it was Maethor. 

 

I remember the people Sydney antagonizes because he is very cautious about that sort of thing.  

 

If it wasn't Maethor, then who was it?

Just here to confirm that the character in question WAS in fact Maethor, as spidy also commented to confirm. His character and mine have had multiple IRP interactions afterwards where their original confrontation at the Kaethul was mentioned.

PC, you should admit you made a mistake by saying you weren't on Maethor instead of calling it a "he said she said" situation. It really doesn't change anything else about the BR (I know that at least my character would certainly not remember Maethor's full name after such a long time had passed) but you know that what you said wasn't true; we've had multiple conversations oocly since including one two days ago where we talked about Maethor and Nataya having had that confrontation in the tavern.

Hello! Sorry to butt myself in as well, but if we are speaking of the same tavern incident. Malna was there after Nataya had come to Haense and spoken of guards. I'm not saying either side is right or wrong in this. But I can also say that Maethor WAS there as he swore in Malna upon seeing her in Kaethul.
