Adalfriede entered the quiet palace chapel to find her husband, crownless, bent in prayer. He had been there for a day and a night while the clerics prepared Alfred’s body for his funerary pyre. Approaching on silent feet, Adalfriede set a hand on Leon’s shoulder and just stood with him in wordless comfort. The only sound in the chapel the soft crackling of Owyn’s flame.

Finally, she helped Leon to his feet and led him through the castle grounds towards the stables. “Come, we must prepare his horse for the pyre. He will ride amongst the ancestors, the wind on his face, as it is supposed to be.”

The Princess maintained her composure, steady and solid in preparation for that final farewell. But as she looked up towards the slate grey sky, she sent up a silent prayer.

Watch over us, Cousin. Wer rastet, der rostet.

Charles Alstion, cousin to the late Prince, let out a heavy sigh upon hearing the news "Your legacy lives on, good Alfred. Death slowly takes every and each one of us. I have learned much of discipline during my visits to Reinmar in the years of my youth, long before the crown was put on my head. Those days were better, and many good people were still alive back then..." The King of Aaun recollected before going to light a candle to mourn his relative's passing

Ravenna Barclay stood silently within her chamber, her heart heavy with sorrow for the loss of her firstborn. The weight of outliving her own flesh and blood, who should've outlived his own mother and father. It was a cruel, twisted realization, echoing through her heart. She could only reflect on what time they had spent together. Walking to the nearest comforter, she couldn't endure her regret, regret she had been absence too much of late, left with an aching sense of loss.

Maud Barclay dragged her sword across the dirt below her before lifting it as if she were ready to strike. Her teary eyes pierced through the dummy, just a few paces across her. She envisioned herself as the dummy, furious with herself. Finally, after years, the young lady had planned to speak with her father about her future. Finally, she had understood her responsibilities, finally, she thought, she would make him proud. Now she held no hope, and for this she hated herself. The unspoken words and missed connection between father and daughter, are irretrievable now, just as it were with her late mother.

"He did what Ich did nicht have the heart to." Wilheim thought to himself as he looked out of his window, spotting green and blue amidst the walls rather than the black and yellow he had grown with. "He shall surely prosper in the Seven Skies as he had down here."

Josefina found Isolde sitting amongst the pews of the temple and joined the womans side in prayer. She had fond memories of Alfred, ones that she could recall as hilarious, and so forth. After spending a few hours of prayer, she left the temple, and aimlessly wandered the streets of Kretzen.

"Vati, I will do my best to continue your legacy." Erwin slowly turned to his page whom no doubt would have to deal with whatever newfound fury the man was wrought with.

~---~

Somewhere in someplace. . .  there was a lost soul.

Wandering aimlessly for all of eternity. . .

There was no regret, no remorse, and no emotion left. . .

Just an empty husk floating in the soul stream. . .

---

And then, it happened.

A bright light the soul knew flew above his head.

Another kin lost. Another life drained. . .
It reminded him that he was stuck here, hopelessly alone.

---

But, the husk, stopped in his tracks for a moment.

For this light was no ordinary light to the figure.

A Prince, a Duke, a warrior, a friend, a brother.

In another life, they would of been caged birds freed.

---

"So long, Alfie"

Dietrich watched as the sun set from the Palace. He always enjoyed climbing to the highest points of the towers, despite the harsh backlash from his father. His father... the man was gone. Not dead yet, but no longer living amonst them. It was odd to him that he didn't feel any sort of comfort in that reality. He was just, numb.

"We are begin anew." The Barclay said as he continued to stare out.
