It is evident that in the annals of history, only the names of fallen heroes and rulers are ever given much credit. The figures that go unnoticed rarely see their names arranged on a printing press, slathered with ink, and brought to parchment. In all honesty, I quite like that.

To be remembered is to live forever, but only to those that matter. If a man’s legacy is owned by the world, his legacy is a shared one with little value to the masses. Perhaps to some, but he is merely another name in a long list of the dead. For what matters most is the family and allies he is remembered by, through song and scripture, and the bloodline he leaves on this earth.

I, Roland Sturmweber von Wesenburg, like to think I’ve achieved such benchmarks in my life. From a simple miner and sailor, to Warchief, Erstkanzler, father, and grandfather, this journey I took shall end with a man at peace, with the family he loves, under a Reinmaren sky.

I have gone through these trials not only for myself, but for you all, my kin and kith.

In the coming days, a dispatch of letters arrive to the following recipients:

Sir Rafael Stroheim

Spoiler

Sadiq,

It is from you that I learned my way around this realm of malice and magic, and equipped me with the knowledge to survive its unforgiving tempest. For being my most trusted ally since my youth, I bestow my Kriegsmesser; a relic from the days on Almaris, through the streets of Neu Brandthof, that has never left my side. A truly fitting gift. Additionally, I would like you to have my cardinal mask. The Owl perches alone now, I’m afraid.

As-salam alaikum, my friend. We shall reunite in the skies.

Sir Varik von Wesenburg

Spoiler

Brother,

While we may appear of different races on the outside, it is inside that you are blood of my blood. When we met, you were but a drifter without cause or concern, and from then on, grew to be, not only a Ritter, but Herrenmeister of Reinmar. What’s mine is yours. I find it only right that you should receive, along with my title as Baron and position of Patriarch in the family, my right handed Animii prosthesis. I request that you have it turned into a wearable gauntlet, that shall be passed down to each family patriarch forevermore. My hand will serve as a reminder of our motto ‘Immer Bereit’; always ready to receive good graces, and always ready to fight back when needed. It is to you I also entrust my steed, my remaining coinage in the bank, and my Aurum stiletto dagger, for which I hope will spill darkspawn blood in your lifetime.

Additionally, I bestow my Kriegsmesser; a relic from the days on Almaris, through the streets of Neu Brandthof, that has never left my side. May it serve my grandson Oswald well.

It is with great sorrow that I must say goodbye, brother. May you enjoy a much deserved long and fulfilling life. We shall see each other again.

Lady Violet von Wesenburg

Spoiler

Dearest flower,

Though my flame is extinguished, yours will burn on for many years to come. Your beauty will endure, as will the love you share to our family. So too will my love endure in the next life, and I hope to see you each day, happy and proud of the life you’ve provided, not only this family, but myself included. I shall always cherish our times together, and pray that when you return to me, we may bask at the sunset along the shore, as we once did all those years ago. To you, I surrender my emerald ring; the symbol of our unbreakable bond. May you keep it safe, and return it to me on the day we reunite.

Goodbye my love and dearest friend. GOD wills that we be apart for now, but not forever.

Bernhardt von Wesenburg

Spoiler

My first born son,

Since your birth I have always cherished you. While I have not always been forward with my affection towards my children outwardly, it would be false and cruel to say that I did not love them. You were an odd child in your youth, but have grown to be an exceptional man. One who returned to his peoples’ roots and decided to start a family there. I could not be happier. It is with great distinction that I bestow to you my many alchemical mixtures I’ve collected over the years. As the future of our medical professionals in the family, I will also see to it you receive my preserved hand, of which your mother was responsible for jarring. May it serve you well as a medical example. You shall also receive my whip, for without it, I could not construct the perfect foundation for future Reinmarens, through discipline and grit.

Farewell my beloved son. You have made me a proud father, and I hope to see your own family grow one day too.

Lieselotte von Wesenburg

Spoiler

My dearest daughter,

Your mother and I wish only the best for you. Everyday, we ask God that you will find your place in this world and be happy in whatever it is you do. For many years, you have struggled in finding a proper suitor, but worry not, for courtship is not everything. One day, you will find the man who is right for you, I have faith. You are a smart woman, and I have no doubt such intellect will go unnoticed. It is for this reason I pass down my personal collection of books and baubles. May they inspire you along this journey in life.

Goodbye my beloved daughter. I pray GOD guides your heart, as he did mine, in all things you do.

Mariola Sturmweber

Spoiler

Sister,

As a founder of this house, you played a necessary role in establishing my family legacy and carving its name in stone. You have fought valiantly for Reinmar, becoming even a Hird for the Princess. No words can describe how proud I am. As of late, your interests are aligned more with the forge. For this reason, I leave the deed to the shop in your hands. Let it continue on in my absence, but hone your craft within it. They will be talking about Sturmweber weapons for generations to come, surely.

Farewell beloved sister. May you meet only success and prosperity in your life, for ages to come.

Thank you all for the roleplay, from the tail end of Almaris to the first year of Aevos, this character had a long and arduous journey! It was a blast and I only hope to have even more fun in the future!

A long forgotten dark skinned woman looks upon the departed Roland, her eyes holding the same fire as they once did in life. “Finally, it’s been long enough old friend. Now I get to call you an arsehole for the rest of our eternal lives,Safi Makr smirked, though it held a lighthearted nature to it.

"Mm... I always figured you..." Mariola, though finding joy in her life as of recent, had felt too much loss to have any more tears. For the longest time, she sat in her workshop basement, holding the deed to the Sturmweber Shop firmly in her hand and the other hand upon her temple. The depression had ended, but now she had to suffer the consequence of wasting years of her live locked away in her room. She began to write a note, one that would never be sent; there were no aviaries in the Skies.

"Roland, Baron von Wesenberg,
It is with great sadness that I see you depart from this world. While I knew this day would surely come, no man, woman or child on this earth is prepared for the loss of family. When I came to Minitz as Mariola Cailynn, I simply came under the promise that there would be a few cute men who were so desperate for company. I was twenty at the time, you must remember my child-like nature.
What I found instead, was a community that accepted me as their own, as if I were a human. I took that feeling for granted, derailing my life in only a short decade. It is my biggest regret, as is not speaking my mind to you more often. You were a good man to Violet. You were a good man to me. And I simply wish that I spent more time with you, a pint and a cigar... likely your own brand, good tobacco is hard to come by these days.
I could write this, and a thousand more wishes; you certainly have the time to read them now that you are with God and Horen. If I some how get a ladder up there one day, you must tell me what he was like!
Bernhardt loves you, he always has, he felt torn apart when you revoked his heirship. I know you had your reasons, perhaps I will learn them one day. But remember that despite that, we still loved you. I still loved you, even when I was angry, and even when I cut your hand off... sorry about that.
Goodbye, Roland, rest well. I doubt we will meet again, but if we do, consider the smoking and the drinking, hm? I've admittedly never tried the shop's tobacco before, or any tobacco for that matter.
-Mariola Sturmweber."

Erwin Barclay grieved the loss of the first Erstkanzler of Reinmar; despite not knowing the man for long, he had a heavy admiration for him and his long service to the tribe.

Lieselotte stood up from her secret garden, rubbing her arm across her forehead to wipe away sweat as she saw her brother approach.

". . .  you aren't allowed here." The odd young woman asked, staring blankly to her brother before noticing his sad expression. She furrowed her brows, without a word going forward and snatching a letter he held out to her. She swiftly unfolded it and read it, shoving her braids off her shoulders ..

". . . he's dead?" she perked a brow, even now she seemed to lack much of a proper reaction.

"Books. . I like books." Lieselotte muttered,

". . he basically called me lonely though. hm." she shrugged, shoving the letter into her pocket as she continued some garden work .. those who know her know she physically can't leave a job undone ..

Frederica becrossed herself with a small sigh as she heard the news, having heard the Baron's will for the succession of his title just hours before. "GOD bless you, Roland von Wesenburg. GOD bless you."

Violet was alone in her morgue .. the uneasy feeling of dread upon her area of work and office. She sat at her desk, her head in hand as she stared blankly into her desk, the letter from Roland to her desk. She couldn't understand it .. she just saw him, she just spoke to him .. he shouldn't have been so soon. Her hands became fists as she slammed it down onto her desk with tears in her eyes..

"damnit all .." the widow hissed, shaking her head. The words of Ms. E from the recent Court played over and over in her head, "Mark my words . . A Wesenburg will die to my hands . . " Those words were like a broken record. There is no way this was coincidence . . was it? Did Ms. E kill Roland at his vulnerable weakened state, did she hold true to her words? Or was it bad timing .. how could it be? Violet shook her head more, grabbing at her desk as her hands began to shake with pure rage. She looked to the ripped open morgue slot, the place Ms. E once laid .. nearby, Roland's name plate rested - where her husband was stored.. awaiting his funeral.

". . that jealous bitch. . " She seethed, in her mind, Ms. E had taken her husband, in an act of revenge of what Violet did to her.

Adalfriede sat in the gardens surrounded by smoke, rising in lazy circles around her from her pipe. She had packed it with pipeleaf from the Sturmweber company, paid by Roland as Isolde's dowry when she wed Adelmar. She had acquired a taste for the stuff, even if she usually liked to keep her head clear and unaddled by drink or smoke.

Rest well, Erstkanzler. You have earned that much.

Isolde von Kanunsberg stood in the doorway of her home, looking out towards the Wesenburg manor. The cigarette she held between two fingers of her hand, which hung limp on her side, was barely touched. As it was burning out, she thought of Roland. She had never truly known that man, seeing him more as a distant figure to admire than a brother. On this day she regretted the distance that parted them for so long.
