christman 3529 Popular Post Share Posted October 1, 2024 Zevir Ratnanak (Diabolic Invocation) Mortals–blinded by their selfish ambition, struggle or deranged quest for power–may reach out through the depths of Moz Strimoza to commune with inferi in a desperate bid to alleviate their earthly woe. A wicked and vile ritual, diabolic invocation permits wayward occultists the means to seek infernal intercession directly. A blank pentagram. On a flat surface of any orientation, no smaller than three metres wide and long, a pentagram inlaid with a pentagon must be drawn in fresh blood. The shape’s internal lines house the material runes for aether, fire, water, air and earth and in its centre lies an empty place where a name will be marked; a demon’s true name, which may be written in Ilzakarn or a crude and phonetic commonisation of the name. This is notably not a translation of the name into Common, but rather a poor attempt at replicating the name in the native tongue of those incapable of scribing the chaotic script of Ilzakarn. Upon the name’s completion, the ritual sparks to life to make the chosen inferis innately aware of a mortal attempt to beseech them. While the demon in question may deny the calling to no ill-effect, by entering into a nigh meditative trance these summons may be answered. Should the demon accept its call, the pentagram will begin to pulse. Candles might extinguish, ineffectual malflame may lick the bloody scrawl, and harmless occult flourishes fill the room. In wake of a physical form, a smoky shadow manifests inside the ritual circle as the summoner's soul will instantly be supped of its anima. This infernal avatar is incapable of interacting with its surroundings, bar the inherit Soul-Sapping ability, and can only perceive the mortal who called upon them. A telepathic link establishes that remains until the rituals close, where practitioner and devil alone may discuss the terms of their prescribed deal. Greater inferi that are summoned may influence the world beyond their pentagram cagings. A conjured zar’akal may reach out to offer boons and banes, while zar’kiel might unshackle themselves to bring ruin upon a gathering of naive occultists. The ritual will come to an abrupt end if the circle is disturbed or broken or if either party enters combat at their ends. Likewise, a demon may withdraw itself at any time. The wicked lines do not disappear when the connection is severed but sear the ground with deep, albeit mundane, scorch marks to forever mark what vileness occurred. -Diabolic invocation requires five uninterrupted emotes to succeed. Three emotes, one for each aspect of the pentagram (the pentacle, the material runes, the inferis’ true name) must be dedicated to completing the summoning circle. Faint whispers of ilzakarn and the smell of sourceless smoke appear on the third emote, while the mass extinguishing of candles, ineffectual malflame and harmless occult flourishes manifest on the fourth. The fifth emote must describe the beseeching attempts as either failing, as the circle falls dark, or succeeding and summoning forth the avatar of their chosen inferis. The player is then expected to contact their chosen target and inform them of their summoning attempts. -The existence and process of diabolic invocation is not common knowledge and must be learned from a valid source IRP. All characters with a valid inferi CA (zevn, zar'ei, zar'akal) are aware of it inherently, however naztherak are not. -All CA inferi can be summoned through diabolic invocation, however it cannot be used to circumvent PK's and reach those lost to the hells, nor can it be used to reach unplayed/ NPC/ lore significant demons without express ST permission. -Must be done on a flat horizontal or vertical surface at least 3x3. -Ilzakarn can only be used by Ilzakarn speaking characters. Characters that are unable to utilise Ilzakarn may crudely sound out the infernal, painful hiss in an effort to TRANSLITERATE a name to invoke. This does not permit players to speak or understand Ilzakarn. -A demon may deny a heading to summons. The meditative trance may easily be broken and is equitable to holding a voidal magic connection. -The incorporeal avatar cannot interact with the physical world under any circumstance. The inferis remains physically elsewhere (though the ritualist must emote a translucent image of the inferis, referencing any applicable skins/ screenshots as necessary). This telepathic link is silent and mental and must be represented using /msg on the server for RP logging purposes (not on Discord or elsewhere). The inferis is not physically present OOCly and is only capable of seeing and hearing the ritualist. -Zar’akal are able to offer boons and banes through their avatars. A zar'akal can only offer ONE greater boon or one lesser boon and two banes per summoning. -The summoner is automatically affected by Soul-Sapping as detailed in the Infernal Compendium lore and are put on a ONE MONTH cooldown before they may attempt Diabolic Invocation again. Successful ritual beseeching should be marked on the CA via the summoner making a /sreq. -The Inferis recipient has no such cooldown, and can therefore be beseeched multiple times by multiple people so long as they are not themselves on cooldown. -Were an inferis to attempt Diabolic Invocation on another inferis, they would be subject to the same ONE MONTH cooldown as any other on summoning, though may still themselves be beseeched by others as normal. -Zar’akal who are beseeched are unable to profit from Soul-Sapping and will gain no soul fragments, however the summoner is still plagued by the same effects. Two pentagrams intended to invoke Iblees, the first by a character versed in Ilzakarn and the second an equally valid commonised iteration. Spoiler This is designed to be a means for anyone to interact with demons outside of exclusive MA circles, enabling the ‘deal with the devil’ niche for a much wider audience in a more accessible sense for characters not fully immersed in Naztherak. It is for this reason the addition is Worldlore, that it may also be used to enable ST events and spread wide to any and all characters desperate enough to ‘sell their souls’ with the right knowhow. In turn this addition hopes to equip inferi of all levels with the means to engage in more varied types of roleplay and become more involved in characters and stories beyond nigh unavoidable CRP, as often overshadows attempts at pacts and dirty deeds with their current limitations. Unwillingly 18123 Share Posted October 1, 2024 I had a similar spell planned for the zar'akal rewrite, event-site type areas non-infernals could access and use communicate andn bargain with a zar'akal. this is pretty cool and I'd love to see some new content like this for naz
PrimnyaQuorum 4003 Share Posted October 1, 2024 This sounds absolutely amazing, and I love the idea of a “true name” - though I think people will just use it as an excuse to metagame Ilzakarn words and names. Maybe instead of guessing the sound of the name it could be a mixture of offerings for a particular Zezimar/Zar’Akal/Inferi, which is something they have to give out in particular to be summoned?
ThatFunkyBunch 2818 Share Posted October 1, 2024 Short, sweet, and to the point. As well as being extremely on theme. I haven't seen anyone call Inferi Lessers or Greaters since ancient lore. The roleplay this will provide for the community outside of Naz players is immense. 10/10 and will be extremely sad if they deny this

Seems like a super fun and flavorful thing to add. The idea of an zar'akal being able to do boons/banes through this opens up so many interesting avenues!!

ProcaPro 558 Share Posted October 1, 2024 I like the idea of making demons and such interactable with.outside of the niche occultist circles and lair rp many find themselves stuck in. A large issue with the ca is the lack of any new roleplay that happens, creating a sort of void that steers people away from attempting the roleplay which can lead to a larger lack of new material. I will say guessing the ilzakarn is perhaps not a good idea due to metagaming, but if they gain the help of a Naz, the name written in paper on the center, or an object of importance those may be examples of alternate ways for normal people to summon or access it.
RandomRhunes 177 Share Posted October 2, 2024 Dear sweet heavens, it’s glorious. As an inferi main myself; this has my approval
Islamadon 9158 Share Posted January 6, 2025 This Lore has been accepted. Moved to Implemented Lore, it will be sorted to it's appropriate category soon. Please note that if this is playable lore, such as a magic or CA, you will need to write a guide for this piece. You will be contacted regarding the guide (or implementation if it isn’t needed) shortly.
