TO OUR BELOVED SUBJECTS,

 

Our great Kingdom enters a period of mourning, in the wake of His Excellency, the late Amiratus, August Benedict Temesh’s passing. A true statesman and patriot, August held the office for twenty long years, serving the realm with the utmost dignity and honour befitting a man of his station. 

 

Alongside Ivan Cardinal Lotharia, August assisted in the administration of the Regency Council, ensuring the continued stability of the realm until the coronation of His Majesty, King John II. Yet, whilst his wise counsel was invaluable, he was above all else a good man, beloved for his sincerity and kindness. He will be sorely missed by all.

However, in our remembrance, we cannot allow ourselves to neglect that the realm requires a new hand, just and wise in their administrative conduct. Thus, the Crown hereby appoints the Duchess of Sunholdt, Esfir d’Arkent, as Amiratus of the Kingdom of Balian. Having proven her aptitude in the capacity of Palatiodora and loyalty as one of our most honourable peers, we instil our full confidence in her ability to inherit such a monumental burden. 

 

The Crown looks forward to witnessing her future years of service.

Caliope would gasp at the news, to her Esfir could do no wrong as her mother. Truly she was surprised though, her Mother was now the direct Advisor to the King and in charge of the nation's government. Under her breath Caliope would mutter the phrase "Diva Alert..." as she quietly celebrated the victory for her mother.

"So much to do... never enough time to do it," The new Amiratus mused. However, even as she sighed, Esfir was grinning from ear to ear. All would pay off in due time.

The Lady Palatine of Hanseti-Ruska received the news of this new shift within the Balianese leadership whilst in the midst of her daily letters, the smallest smirk gracing her lips as she dwelled upon that lady's appointment. Since the death of Princess Adalfriede, the dour Princess Milena had often felt much alone - one of few women who still held power in a way that reached so close to governance. A woman who might have been a cautious friend, stripped away before any true connections could be made. Now, it seemed, another opportunity had come to present itself. The prospect of an equal was once more upon the table.

 

She hoped the former Amador, now made Duchess and Amiratus, could measure up. The Palatine would be watching intently from afar.
