5 Years Minus A Day, AMA

It will be five years as of tommorow but Ill be busy that day and was cooking an Easter dinner for my nan yesterday SO we doing it today.

 

I joined during a covid lock-down. And I was going slightly insane about not being able to walk in any of my local commons and so started joining a bunch of MC servers as enrichment for my brains exploring-quota.

 

I'd only played vanilla survival servers up until then, and among the theme park recreation and mini game servers, I also joined LOTC n for some reason stuck around.

 

Retrospect -- good idea? HMmmmmmmm. I've met cool people here so it's a solid Yeh Probably.

 

Now the QUESTIONS. Ask'm if thou desire. I've played with quite a few ppl over the years n anniversary AMAs are the lotc tradition SO i make one.

First 4 and a bit years? Aside from minor grieviances, things like calling a mod for bad crp, vaguely knowing someone who gets permabanned, very few issues. dipping in and out of activity, just doin fun rp.

THEN i decide u know what. ill volunteer to take over being NL.

N that was not very fun at the end. the start was ok-ay. decide to follow up on last NL's plans for letting a group vassal; SOME HOW spurred the first war the halflings have been in in over 5 years in the process. N it all went downhill from there.

Sucked all around for weeks. Now I'm still kinda in the resulting slump from that? In that i've moved on from it a while back but am finding I still don't have the enthusiasm/motivation to do event-planning, building, group managing, or any kinda rp that requires planning effort.

maybe i'll get really into it again and take up group-leading another time, and maybe Not fail at leading the halflings well after 2 attempts (oops). Or maybe this is the end of Sal's lotc golden era

I still enjoy the server. I've made friends from it and I still like to rp with them. I'm just making sure I got other creative outputs n such. After dealin with the war-stuff I got into writing again; did some painting and oil pastel drawings, havent done that in years, started making desk homunculuses.

I gotta have a creative outlet to do weird art or ill physically combust, but while getting my degree (started uni about a year after joinin lotc), i didn't have time for most kinds of art i enjoy doing. I think being able to RP rlly helped me with that creative outlet, so I don't regret time sunk into lotc (FOR the most part). It's just not one of my main hobbies currently. We'll see how it goes!

1) I dunno I didn't have any plans for how long i'd stay when i joined. I simply vibe.

2) I haven't done M A N Y of the lotc things in this time, surprisingly. Have yet to touch any magic that isn't housemagery somehow, though I'm planning to pick up druidism soon. Maybe some day i will voidal-mage. Emphasis on maybe. I also plan to get evil again EVENTUALLY, havent been evil enough.

3) I eat like 5 tins of mackeral a week.

I also visit aquariums as much as I can, n keep some cardinal tetras and guppies.

Wet beasts. Guppies are the crackheads of the tropical aquarium world.

4) VERY HARD to pick a single one.

For now, I'm gonna go with the map-end Pumpkin Raid between Arcas and Almaris the halflings did. This was very shortly after I joined the halfling group, which was. Very shortly after I visited them for the first time, and they permanently detonated their entire village in a RP event. We had someone playing while claiming to be the halfling God at that time, who made a small halfling child the Pumpkin Pope. I was also playing a small halfling child then, and a few other people. We all got rallied into a pumpkin raid, which is when the halflings wear pumpkin heads and tour the map for hours, screaming incoherently about gourds, religion, forcefully distributing alcohol and food, and generally being a nusciance. They have to start spontaneously. We crashed several rp meetings, got like 8 people to join us.

I'm hoping eventually I can get that feeling out of lotc again at some point.

1) VERY HARD TO PICK ONE SO I DO TOP THREE

Sorrel Peregrin. First halfling, very hard to live up to. Didn't end in a weird, upsetting way like Magnolia did. Yet to be surpassed by the other 2 halflings ive played/am playing. I genuinelly just really love halfling rp, and I think this bruised up butch sheriff in suspenders with a fake medical degree really managed to channel all i love about it. my first halfling but still my favourite. I will never surpass her troll-detonating, child-tackling, orc-out-drinking power.

Dr H. M. Monculus. Freak homunculus with many surprisingly legitimate medical licenses. Has gotten up to so many shenanigans and very heartfelt rp. Very much enjoy still playing her and have no plans to shelf. Has been extremely fun delevoping the character from a blank slate COMPLETELY, going into it with no plans for the future. One day someone's gonna manage to PK her, and i only hope they do it in a fun way that does the character justice.

ANDDDD. Old Nels Aylir. The on-off shelf clown who originated with plans to join and divorce the delf family. sunny you played my favourite stepkid and the divorce was never finalized so lle still counts. Has been seat to some very fun performance rp, but I also enjoy the depth of rp from giving them chronic illnesses, n it's a bit cathartic to channel my days of bein a band/choir/play kid with a chronic illness into that rp. Eventually, I will roll a 1/20 on a tightrope for them, and they will PK. and it will be glorious.

 

2) Salamander would be the easy answer. AND,. well it kinda works. I relate heavily to being a slow, very squishy fragile bodied salamander which just wants to sit in a comfortable location and consume nutrients

1) Mary spotting me from across the bywater lake, sprinting across to me, and then tackling me into the lake.

2) gin. Im getting ahead on the old lady drinks

3) need to write characters but not built right to write books so I turn to text roleplay (though I do write fan-fiction for puzzle games now and the one im working on is fairly popular so that's something)

4) I went to a car boot sale but it rained so much all the cars left but then I went and got a rocky road cake so that was pretty good

5) not regularly

6) on occasion

7) solid chance I will get hair loss so maybe

8) when the hormonal imbalance kicks in and I develop balding as one of the symptoms (always a possibility)
