"A flame, snuffed."

The following was hastily written within a scroll, stamped with the Tsukinomiya kamon

Yeah, I was greedy. I hoarded my little wealth, so here's hoping I can fairly distribute it among my friends and loved ones. I either died, unprepared, or screaming to bring glory to the Shugo.

To Shugo Atsuko

Spoiler

"I cherished my time spent in Koyo-Kuni. Thank you for leading us through every obstacle. Even though I was never Samurai, I hope I still could make you proud."

To my husband, Honda

Spoiler

"I genuinely appreciate the time we spent together, while I wish we could’ve had more, I probably went out with hopefully some sort of cool bang. I leave you my most prized possessions."

To my eldest daughter, Reiko

Spoiler

"You might believe yourself unloved by the rest of the family, but that is far from true. Please come home. I offer you the opportunity of the Tsukinomiya Dojo. I leave you my magnificent blades."

To my only son, Mikaze

Spoiler

"I truly am proud of you. I hope you know that. You’ve grown into an amazing and strong young man. Do what you can for the state, and die to protect it. You know why I’m giving you these. I hope you can make use of them."

To my youngest daughter, Yukiko

Spoiler

"I wish I could’ve seen you blossom into a wonderful young woman. I’m sorry our time was cut short. I leave you my scarf, to keep you warm as I now cannot, and my talons to keep you safe."

To my samurai mentor and friend, Botsugo

Spoiler

"I’m sorry, but I don’t have much to offer you except the potential to join the remnants of Levanter on any future expedition they may hold. Tell them I sent you; hopefully, they’ll remember me."

To my friend, Ena

Spoiler

"I still remember seeing you for the first time during that festival. Thank you for doing what you could to help me. I’m sorry, I don’t have much to offer you in terms of material wealth, though I hope my spare alchemicals can prove useful."

To my student, Kirin

Spoiler

"I am a failure of a teacher and have left you without answers. When he is free and ready, speak to Ena."

To the Tsukinomiya Clan

Spoiler

"I am proud of creating you.

To shield my kin from the dark,

I leave my cloak in the Tsukinomiya Vault. Should Reiko ask to collect it, please let her."

To Ava Ranaleth

Spoiler

"Please take care of my kin. I am sorry to have asked for so much of you,

but this will be the last thing, I promise."

To Koyo-Kuni

Spoiler

"I leave my small hoard of 1120 mon to the state, to fund the Tsukinomiya Dojo, the rest for state funds."

To those I was close to and were not listed, please don’t take offense to it, as there was only so much LOOT to give.

To keep jealousy to a minimum, who gets what of my belongings is private knowledge.

Anyway,

BANZAAAAAIII!!!!!!!!!GLORY TO KOYO-KUNI, UNCLE KATO OIJIN AND THE IRON LAAADY HAGANEKI BANZAAAAAI NO GLORY WITHOUT DEATH NOTHING TO GAIN WITH NO PAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yu has had MANY close encounters with death, being left at either 1/25 HP, or dangling above lava, so since this was the only time ive died in an event, i felt it only natural to PK and end her story. thank u all for the RP :]

The youth never got to know his aunt well, but nevertheless, he was thankful; if not for her, he would be dead at least two times over. He would make sure to do his best to keep her in his mind as he sought to comfort his cousin through his grief.

Somewhere in Koyokuni, a priestess whispers can be heard...

“Every flame must someday flicker and die, leaving only the warmth of its memory in the darkness that follows.”
"Sayonara, Yu-sama, may you return as a Kami."

Leaves fall to the ground
Coloring the world in death
So new shoots may grow

"When it is my time, I look to forward to fighting beside you again in Machiman's Realm, Koumori." Honda thought in passing through his clan's halls, languid in his movement. Decades he had spent there with Yu, not only his wife but closest comrade, raising their family and perfecting their craft. Wordlessly, they had flowed together in battle, striking with synchronicity. But now that irreplaceable ally was lost, gone for good. Time had taken its toll upon Honda, his body aged and worn by countless battles. No longer did his arms handle the might he brought to bear, the recoil of his punch growing wilder with every year. Such was the mortal Samurai's lot, only time would tell if he too would burn out in a blaze of glory or be resigned to fade away.

Ena sighed when he received the news later on in the evening in his office from Mikaze. There was plenty of unfinished business for the shinobi cabal, but at last there was no greater honor than to be relieved of one's duty through the ultimate sacrifice for the country. In a blaze of glory like their Great Ancestor. Ena didn't believe this was a befitting end for a shinobi. But it was a befitting end for a true CITIZEN of the state.

The blind man lacked the poetic prose of his forefather, so instead he resigned to reciting a quote from the Little Pink Book he felt true to Yu's spirit before Mikaze, "There are two types of men in this world, citizens and commoners. The commoner does whatever he must for the state so that he may survive, but the citizen does whatever he can for the state so that it may survive. Number four,

Perhaps it brought no solace to the young man who lost his mother, but such a death was a good example for every citizen when the time was right.

A soldier stood clad in battered armor atop a volcanic hill. Her gaze was fixed on the horizon, where stars loomed close and the moon cast down its quiet, grieving smile. In her hand, she clutched a letter, gripping it so tightly, as if letting go would mean losing everything.

To let go…

What a cruel concept. One she had always struggled to understand. However, her mind and soul had ascended—though her emotions had become fleeting, momentary things—still... she could not let go. Her comrade. Her soldier. Her student. Gone.

Her metal knees met the ground. Her arms fell limp at her sides. She knew the truth: she would never see Yu again. Not in the paradise that lay beyond—a place she could never reach. But one thought endured, as it always had, whenever those she loved were taken from her:

“I will live forever.”

But no matter. A new Oath shall be upheld from that day on. Ava Ranaleth shall safeguard the Tsukinomiya's bloodline. From afar, but she shall be there; as a shield, as family.

For Ehiba, it was different. Yu was a sister, a teacher—the one who had truly brought her into the ranks of shinobi. If she held her current position within Koyo, it was because of the fallen shinobi. Another Oyashiman lost… and she had been powerless to stop it.

A tear rolled down her cheek as she kneeled before a small shrine, adorned with delicate flowers, whilst the sun descended from the sky. A shrine dedicated to Yu and her goddess of the Moon. Thereafter, in her hands, she held a bottle of sake, which she gently poured into the center of the altar. Her emotions were in ruins, her heart aching with absence.

After her deed of respect, the devout geisha pressed her hands together in prayer, wishing with all her being that Yu would find peace—that she might be reborn into a happier life. She remembered every moment. When Yu was known as Iena. When she shared her past with Ehiba. Alas, Ehiba had never found the strength to share her own.

“You were never like your ancestors. You were a better warrior… a better leader than your father ever was. Gomen-nasai, Y–Yu-san. I never got the chance to speak with you one last time.”

The Seisho exhaled a sigh. A soft smile curled on her lips with memories flowing throughout her mind.

“Sayonara, Fujiyanagi Iena. I'll see you in our next life.”

Iskandar waited on the Temple Mount for close to fifty-years, but never saw that woman return.

And he will wait another fifty. What is time to a dragon? It does not even occur to him that she might be dead.

Ezau lit a cigarette in Yu's name, taking in a deep drawl of the smoke as she stared to the sky. She wondered, perhaps, if she should check on Ava to make sure she was faring alright.

Standing in shrine pond, uniform soggy and heavy with water a large kappa stood and was left in thought again. Another one they called “lord” gone just like that. No revelation, no further conclusion. A simple way of things that is how it goes. Live and die. But it did not stop the emotionally incapable flesh construct from trying to honor the dead as it later that day set a lantern off into the sky
