A MOTHER’S PRAYER, SET FORTH FROM THE BOOK OF PRAYERS Saint Julia, wife of Horen and mother of Mankind, pray for my husband and children. Grant them length of days, happiness of heart and purity of spirit. But pray for me also, so that I might defend my children from Iblees, bring them up to piety, and, in doing so, do God’s work: the salvation of souls.

 

et it be known unto all, that by the unfailing mercy of His Lord Almighty, beneath his divine power and providence, on this day, 12th of the Sun’s Smile, 2042 the year of our lord, within the sanctified confines of the Castle Tiberias, Her Imperial Highness Elizabeth of Balamena hath been laid to bed after thirty-six hours of labour, and the delivery of the Imperial coupling’s first issue. The Prince was, after a travail of many hours and with the attendance of the most learned of physicians, delivered in safe harmony into our mortal realm. His blessing, as performed by a clergyman of the Holy Mother Church, was done in the Holy Rite in a swaddle of white silk.

Both mother and babe, by the Lord’s bounty, remain in fine health. The infant boy is of sound constitution, with a robust cry, goode colouring of the face, well-formed limbs, and a sure grip of the hand. The Prince was recorded to be dark of hair, and of verdant eyes, his coloring that of the dragonsblood of Horen. An official of the Draconis-Atrium hath been recorded as witness to a most legitimate birth. For the celebration of oure beloved heir, it is by order of the Imperial Crown which we do command that throughout the Realm, the bells in every steeple be rung, and verdant candles be set in honor of a born heir.

Elizabeth of Balamena

 

Rejoice, sons of man, for the blood of the dragon flows strong still. The Crown Princess hath proven fruitful, fit to bear an heir who shall one day assume that seat which governs all humanity. And as divine providence hath set him apart for so great a charge, so too must his name bear equal greatness. Thus is he named in the Flexian tongue spoken by the Aenguls above, as are all those of the blood of Pertinax and Tiberias. Further is he named in honour of his noble grandsire, our beloved Emperor Tiberias of Man.
