Spoiler

Do try to keep things civil, I genuinely wish to see if its just me. and hear ideas too I guess for how to make the server better perhaps.

Just a Rant and Discussion:

I just wish to know if I'm the only one feeling this way. I find my want to log onto LOTC getting lower and lower, and at this point I hardly get on ever if not at all. I feel things growing stale. Not to mention our builds being stolen and the admins still have addressed it in a proper way towards the common players. But that's besides the point, I use to love this server, Felt as if things mattered I guess. To be honest I'm growing to hate how this server is ran, yes a good step was made with the C team it only took a few years, right?  But other problems still remain. To put it bluntly, this server is not doing all that it can, there are so many things that can be done to make things better. Better actions could be made, better management of projects, wars, plugins, raid limits, better fighting rules and actually player stats that, and so much more could be made if people took ideas seriously.

I've been here for a few years now, and I have been burned out before yeah, but never like this. This feels different.

I feel like a cow without anymore milk to give.

I've been where you've been, either with this server or other roleplaying communities, or even just parts of real life. This sounds to me like a perfectly good time to just, step away. Not quit, just, take some time y'know? Enjoy another hobby or something for a while. See if the spark for this community comes back to you sometime, maybe in a month, maybe in two years.

In your issues, I am fearful that you may suffer from what so many suffer across all kinds of communities: An inability to enact change. With hundreds of members and tenured staff members, it can be so easy to feel like you're so far from control that it's just a doomed future. But the only real ways change can be made is if there is a consistent, large scale call for it. That's what we saw a while back with the admin stuff, and surely much more before now. If you don't think you have it in you to participate in discussions and debates for the change you want to see, then there's no harm in stepping back to accept that this may just not be for you - not right now, anyway.

Same here man, same here.

LOTC just feels like its getting worse. There is too much ooc drama going on. Im trying to make things better, but it feels as if people don't care. I keep on seeing people make fun of people and treat them just like they are not even a real person. Its gross, and I joined LOTC for the whimsy, not LOTC political, world domination war bullsh*t shoved down my throat. Ive seen BOTH sides be toxic af... its honestly disappointing.

Advise? Well... I left all LOTC related discords except the RP Community safety so... there's that.

ST Could also NOT deny so many lairs... and actually ALLOW people to RP at their own spots... do activity checks and such...

Could also get LOTC to cut back on Discord communication... possibly.

I don't know, thats my take on it.

I think LOTC is a great game but many of it's systems just give me brain damage specifically combat if you wish to carry out a conflict you have to just sit there and drain like 4 hours of your day and thats just not okay lol a better system needs to be developed. Also I'm kinda confused on what the tech team works on like they add certain colors for a VIP rank okay nice and I understand they manage the Wars but don't you just setup a system one time that can handle wars and thats it then move on to better other parts of the server. I'm also not fully aware of what they do or what it takes to maintain the server so lmk if I'm confused on smth and their work load is much more then it seems.

I kinda wish I never got unbanned when I saw what happened to my baby when I came back a month and a half ago.

I felt super burnt out a while ago. I was playing human character's deeply involved in politics/government, but after a while I figured that was truly draining my desire to play. I took a long break, about four months where I just relaxed and did other stuff and let the server do its thing and returned to something slightly fresher.

What I can recommend is, to try something new. Don't get too involved. Limit your LoTC discord servers to only a few you need. And finally take a break. I always try and consider this server a hobby and check myself if I become too.. passionate/attached - It's just a game.

Yeah, here and there.

I started to feel this burn out for a good while, truth be told I took my first real break off LOTC when I was banned for 1 month. Even then, I openly felt that LOTC was a waste of time. I am 21 turning 22 in October. I have mildly accomplished all the things I wish to do in life, and I have a love life IRL. Not only that, but I am happy roleplaying, and I am unhappy in the way things are going in the current story of the server. Furthermore, I guess that is what happens when the villains in my perspective win?

Though that is to some it is a heroic victory to their story. To those who truly believe people want you out the server, it's not the case. There are circumstances that revolve around certain peoples persona that make them the anthesis of their own persona. Unfortunately those in current control within the IRP side of the world have a very bigot- (please read the definition of this word before saying I am calling people homophobic or similar)  -like mentality, but they aren't that IRL. Do not get this confused. I feel burnt out because it is a wall that we try, and I see people try to change through OOC means, screaming into the forums and debating players from both sides of the war or story. Claiming one side is unfair, or one side is being evil and rule breakers. Yet I remember, years ago when Haense was alive, Mods did some similar shady acts, no one gave a shit what the ferrymen did because they weren't the ones getting bullied and or raided 36/8, or because Oren recently posted a crusade for the Church Chuds, or because either the Dark spawns raided your city, took your kid and made him into a curse child or the nations of the world banded together to eliminate your evildoer group once and for all, and complained that you don't like losing against John Mundane. People smacked their heads into the wall that is the forums, and believed that there is any form of integrity you will ultimately see or have seen, upheld. It saddens me that this server from what I hear from my friends is just toxic and willing to promote it to new players so that they understand that's the kind of RP server they are in, but It also saddens me to also see new players be pampered and told (X) place is horrific and toxic oocly, and they are (Insert radical Nationalist 1920s German party here) all because they somehow you have seen them in such way.

Only for said player to find out it isn't true.

I'm fatigued, by the player base, the ridiculousness that is spat from the mouths of those I call friends, even if it's online. Is burning me out. To find out my friends are also going behind my back to **** over my plans and other peoples plans or even our own friends plans, is also tiring. There was a time I was so tired I decided to see everyone as an enemy. LOTC has both ruined my trust in humanity, all because we live behind a screen, and that is my feeling of fatigued. Thus, burnout.

However

I will also say, that I enjoy the server. It has come a long way, like gold in a fire, it is not perfect because trust me, as someone who's in another RP server, this is still the most appeasing and well-mannered server when it comes to rules and rule management. I do not have to wait for ST to take a ticket and fail to do so, when they have a system to maintain quota, to keep their voluntary jobs, or a build team that makes cool events and gets paid in mina for it. I have a mod team who acts like the FBI when some random idiot says some stupid shit or some oddly erotic emote, I can /modreq, and they will appear in rows. (Trust me they will tp to you faster than a moth to a flame for such issues). I have a community team who actively seeks out to promote the server and give it an image that, popular to contrary belief, it is accurate and truthful. I have no complaints besides those that were already made in the forums when it comes to staff/ Mechanics. Usually if I see a bug (ex. Crossbows getting deleted due to them having a glitch where the system detects preloaded weapons and prevents them from being handed out alr loaded) I would do a techreq and in two days they would see it, log it and have a fix by the next update which is usually in two months at BEST. This server is infact my most favorite MCRP server, even with some things broken in there, I would not log back on if I did not truly like it. I would hate to admit lie, rather admit to a truth that is that I like the server, and the fear of missing out keeps me wanting to get back on and Roleplay more.

To conclude, yes I feel the burnout here and there, however this server allows me to express my creativity, and enjoy something that most games cannot give me, which is the chance to rp what I want to be with people who also like to rp. So It's fine to feel the way you feel, and you have the right to. No one should judge anyone for feeling such way, nor do I think it should be taken as a joke. However, this is the internet, where trolls exist, chuds speak, and weirdos creep. So do not expect to get serious answers from everyone, nor do not expect for everyone to abide by the standards you set or share the mutual respect one gives.

Also when r u gonna play a half elf bro, dm me if u wanna do that.

I’ve barely been on LOTC for the past few months or even the past few days, and I’d like to say that it’s totally okay to feel burnout! If anything, recognizing that burnout can actually be a good thing. At some point with MCRP, you don’t really realize when it’s time to step back, either to disconnect from the everyday drama on the server or because you genuinely just need a creative refill >_>

I’m actually pretty happy being on a semi-hiatus. It also makes you realize, like, “Hey, there are a lot of other things I can do with my time besides just mineman RP.”

Burnout is normal, server hasnt really changed. You cant do smth all the time and expect it to always be fun... do smth else!

You just need to focus on what you find fun and capitalise on that. Disconnecting from doomsayers and constant “this server is going to ******* die” helps make you get a better perspective on the server. Opportunities in the current story are vast, even with the “empires” control, there are many places to be within and there will be afterwards. The war has burnt many people out because they think it’s impossible to have a story where they lose, but it’s a part of LotC to understand struggle and living in a world that may not be perfect.

heaps of opportunities for different events, interactions and a variety of aspects that you get from simply just approaching people. Give your character a purpose and goal, this helps so much in being able to dictate the next steps of what you work towards. The most difficult enemy of LotC is conquering “I have nothing to do”. Innovate, search and constantly change stuff. I will admit as transitioning to a normal player away from doing lore nonsense for the last 6 years, it has been phenomenal in actually

just taking the server for what it is. A fun creative outlet where you can explore things that you want to. (Also I’ll shout out Sorvians as a CA, they’re a great template to trial out purpose driven rp to help layer into your characters)

I have been having more fun here lately than at any time in minecraft rp for the last decade (or more? my god what have I done?)

If you aren’t having fun or it just becomes too much, take a break. Start a new character or change your playstyle. Figure out who the players are who take away your fun and avoid them.

I always hear about how stressed out people are playing this game. Stop. You are doing it wrong. Life isn’t long enough to play games that aren’t fun for you.

Once I gave up on politics, hegemony, land-ownership and lotc systems of any kind it was a lot more fun!

Now I travel the realms making music with my friends. Find what is fun for you and then avoid the rest like the plague!

Nothing I can really say here that hasn't already been said, but I've been here since 2020, and the past few months has been by far the most fun I've ever had on the server. There's so many cultures to explore, magics to try, characters to build. I think there's an endless amount of imperfections to find if you're looking to find fault and an endless amount of enjoyment to find if you're looking in the right places.

That being said, I do have to agree that there is a point where you need to step away. I log onto LotC probably 3-4 hours total every other day. It's enough for me to have one or two fun character interactions, a small story arc of the day, etc. When I find myself beginning to aimlessly wander, I log off. Approaching my time in LotC as short, character-driven spurts instead of wandering around looking for something to do til the cows go home has infinitely improved my experience with the server. And I think another reason why these past months were so fun for me is that I stopped playing LotC entirely for like a year before that. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, as they say. There's no harm in giving that a try.
