A War Avoided, A Lesson Learnt.

I was in Krugmar, there were no humans or dwarves threatening them with annihilation. Yes, Oren in their words, forced the orcs back to Krugmar, but I saw no evidence to indicate they had done nothing more.

This is a conflict that involved Orcs and Dwarves... it should not have involved Elves and Humans. That is where the mistakes were made. We our fortunate for the Wisdom of the Elven Council and of King Enor that further conflict was averted.

I feel none of us have quarrels with Oren, and no standing treaties, so they should not be in the war to begin with. If the dwarves have taken the Wargoth's son, then we are honor bound to assist our allies. I feel that Krugmar, Malinor, and the Black Cross should write up an official alliance set in both stone and words, and that we should deliver terms to the dwarves for peace. Also, Laurelin should be fortified immediately, and we should send out patrols to scout enemy defenses. Do not forget that it was the dwarves who refused to talk with our leaders, and it was one of their council members that threw the rocks at Morgraka and I. We elves must assist our allies in this time of need, for I believe that the orcs would assist us if we were attacked.

I feel that an emergency council meeting/ war council should be convened so that the Council can decide on actions to take.

Also, all elves are advised to stay in Malinor and Krugmar, and not to venture north. Also, all elven mage guild members are to not directly take part in the battles, but I believe serving as medics or building fortifications would serve in Malinor's best interest. This would allow you to help people and save lives while not participating in the fighting.

Sincerily,

Ebs

I was at Kal'Urguan, standing outside the gates with the Wargoth, and I was personally hit by an arrow amd Morgraka was hit by cobblestone after requesting to speak with some one to stop this conflict. To say you agreeed to peace talks is incorrect, as no members of the elven government have entered Kal'Urguan before the battle. I think that this situation could have been solved peacefully, but you refused to. I, along with many, were unaware of your under the counter deal with the humans. Also, by my estimates, you would have had called the humans for reinforcements before our army arrived.

The 'umans were on 'igh alert before the battle began, they may 'ave 'ad plenty of warnin' but we only asked them ter start marchin' after yer attacked us.

Also, Orcs are the ones who fired arrows at us, they even admitted that there 'ad been some confusion with what they had been ordered to do. I was personally about ter issue the order ter open the gate when an arrow struck me.

While we did not allow negotiations while yer remained on our lands, we allowed an Elven diplomat ter enter the city after the battle and 'e told us that 'e would inform the Elven government that we were willing ter have a peace agreement. I say now, if you truly want peace, yer need only ask us for it, now stop accusin' us of war mongerin' when yer won't even accept our peace talks.

And what of this toll booth outside the land of Krugmar? On Neutral roads even! I've seen with my own eyes the dwarves flying the colors of Kal'Urgan charging a full two-hundred minas for an elf to cross. FIVE Hundred for an orc.

You speak of peace yet instigate war with these foolish antics.

Do not try to fool the immortal race of elves with these lies. One of our elders has more wit and knowledge than the entirety of one of your great libraries.

Mirabelle sighs softly as she hears the roaring crowd spitting at each other, eyes misting slightly as she blinks her tears away...

Why must we all fight? Why must we shed pointless blood and kill our families over nothing? I hate this conflict, I truly do...

Half my blood is human, my mother a human of Alk'Hazar. Half my heart is there, I do not wish to see it fall because of cultural differences.. I am an example of the love that can grow between orcs and humans. Before my father went mad, he was a wonderful person, he was even Knighted in Oren, and a High Constable before he stepped down to care for my heavily pregnant mother.

I was raised in a house of love and laughter, I grew to call the friends of my family something closer. I call a pair of dwarves, Botar and Vincent, my uncles. I hear that Uncle Botar is even the bodyguard of the Queen Dawn. The pain I felt when I saw him slain on my land, before my very eyes, when I tried to speak with him.. it will scar my heart and mind forever..

I call an elf named Indelwhen my Aunt, I love her so dearly.. she is one of the princesses of the Elf Kingdom.. I wish to see her smile, not the look of terror as she is slain before me when I am powerless to help.

I do not know why this battle started.. it seems by what I have heard and seen, a band of orcs not belonging to Krugmar, to my nation, to my family, attacked the dwarves.. and so they lashed out at us in their anger..

I almost lost my only child because of this senseless strife.. my people grow crestfallen and worn.. Between the constant raids upon out city, the constant assassination attempts upon my mate, child, and self, and the growing threat of undead.. their hearts are crumbling. No longer is my palace filled with my people, smiling and laughing, punching each other and dueling in play and frivolities.. My body is drained in attempt to heal them all, my mind strained from trying to think of solutions, and my heart sinking lower and lower as I watch brother turn against brother, parent against child.

I ask you, beings of this world, is this really what we are? A bunch of rabid dogs fighting over a tiny bone? This is all I have seen since my coming to maturity.. and I am saddened by it.. My innocence was lost long ago, but now my child, barely able to walk, is losing his.. he can't even go out and play in the sun, for fear someone will try to strike us down at any moment.

Is this really what life is..? Is this really all we have? Hate and anger and spite.. over nothing but a lack of knowing the customs of others..

Is this really what our fate is?! Is this what you all want in this world?! To slaughter each other until there is nothing left?! We might as well bow down to Iblees now, for that is where this idiotic hate is sending us!

[[shut up I know Dawn ain't the real queen but my character considers her a ruler, and addresses her as such. AND IT SOUNDS SEXIER D:< ]]

Pok clenches his fists, snarling at Valen Blackaxe, angered with all this dwarfs lies and propaganda

[Translated into the Modern Elven and Dwarven Tounge (to spare me some time) ]

This is obviously a bunch of skah. You attacked our leaders and only further instigated conflicts amongst our races. Our armies were ready for war with the Humans expecting them of this, however we believed the Dwarves had some honor. We were obviously wrong.

Your toll booth only angered us further and I personally killed two of your idiot Dwarves that was manning that piece of skah then tore it down (i couldn't because I don't have perms but the Warlord took it down not much after). With the construction of that damn toll booth you only encouraged more war and violence amongst our races.

I hope to see you on the battlefield so my axe may personally pierce your damn skull.

Consider this:

The Orcs, while prickly as a cactus in nature, are as clad in honor as armor and their sword of vengeance is balanced by the pommel of justice.

While yes, we suffer no insult sitting down, and yes we are likely to challenge you for any slight, we do not blow things out of proportion. Many a man has made his way into Krugmar and insulted Krug himself to our faces. MANY a man, in fact I cannot think of a single week where such a thing has not happened at least twice. Yet you never see us jumping to war for that. The only reason we would jump to war is if the nation itself slighted us, whether it authorized an attack on our citizens or otherwise. Even still our war would be fought with the goal of taking out those responsible for the actions we suffered. We would work to dismantle the government responsible for the occurrence. We wouldn't care to obliterate the entire race on account of the actions their government preformed. We strike those who are unjust to us.

To be honest, the Elves should have every reason to want to come to our aid. Yes, you can play the part of the "neutral party" and try your very hardest to never insult everyone. You can write up a thousand NAPs with everyone you meet and pray no one every comes knocking on your door. But that will last only so long. Eventually, something will happen and someone will die and a war will start. Eventually, you will need your swords and your bows and your druids. Eventually, you will fight. No matter how hard you try, no matter what you do, it will come. Only the naive will tell you otherwise.

With that in mind, take this from the Orcs. It is a message that we teach all our young, one that is passed down from generation to generation. One every Orc understands well, and one that spurs the brotherhoods that form between us:

The dead died alone. Make a friend or join them.

A friend. Not a pact, not a neutral party. A friend.

As much as the truth saddens all of us Warmisstress, there isn't much we can do to stop this.

Not until one of the sides are gone.

And most assured that side will not be Orcish or Elven.

They wanted this war, they got it. Now they have set in motion events we cannot stop. All of there mistakes that have led up to this war will haunt those damn Dwarves and Humans up until they are staring down the blade of an Orc or the arrow of an Elf.

I will personally place my father's axe inside Enor or Thorik's skulls with much joy.

They will pay for all the misery they have brought upon us.

As for the assassins, they are being hunted and will by no means ever reach your palace for as long as I still breathe.

After seeing the childishness of the Dwarves and their tollbooth, I am beginning to consider rescinding what I said about our pact with the orcs. They paid dearly for the mistakes of a few against Kal'Urgan. The dwarves not content with that, instead erect a structure to control the orcs' movements on their OWN sovereign land.

In addition I am moved by the words of the Warmistress. She speaks with the wisdom rarely seen even among my own kin. And she is fully correct that the fighting is meaningless and serves no purpose.

However it would be unwise to see her kindness and wisdom as a weakness. She is not only the mother of her child but that of her entire nation. And she as the elves do, will fight for those she cares for.

And let it be known that I demanded no tax upon the dwarves when the stood on my steps. I even told them that the road was piblic, but they refuses this as i stood not even two feet from my gates. Even when I tried to speak kindly, I was greeted with such hate... I was called stupid, filfty, and horridly demwaned...

All I had asked them was to remain calm, and give me the respect I was giving them. Even when their armies were trapped in my farms, I asked them if they needed food as they shot at me with arrows and swore at me. I did all I could to show kindness, even when a momentary lapse of sanity had me calling them my lovely pets... I greatly regret that moment as well...

I do all I can to protect my tiny nation. At the beginning of last cycle I gave up my freedom to give time for a goblin to pay his debt. I was beaten, demeaned, and degreaded in ways I dare not speak before others, but still I endured, hoping that peace between the goblin and his debtor would soon come. I had to be rescused by a small army one they found out the group I had submitted myself to were not innskeepers but Black Hand.

When atrocities such as this take place several times each cycle, should we really be sending our loved ones to war? How do you think it feels to my cub when his mother hold him, telling him that if she never comes back, she will always love him?

How do you think it feels for the mothers in Kal'Urgan as they see their sons trot off to war, not knowing if they will come back alive?

How does it feel to you warriors when you slay a man, knowing he might have a family who must now bury him?

How do you think it feels when your people ask for guidance, but there is no path to lead them on that will let them be happy?

My heart grows more and more heavy, as do my steps. I am a mere twenty five years now, still a child to this immortal world I am part of, but my bones ache with a weariness that only the stones deep in the earth can understand. My eyes blur, for the sorrow within me for all those hurt by this needless battle has reached a point were I can no longer hold.

I am a creature whos heart belongs to all races, I have at least two of each race I consider family. The pain that one woman feels when her loved one goes to war is at least a hundred fold within this body of mine, for no matter who wins or loses, I may be burying a family member. I have already lost my uncle, seen him slain before me, no word if he is still guarding Queen Dawn. Nor have I heard from Indelwhen, my last memory of her is her body laying before me, run through by an assassin who had come to eliminate me. I do not know if the monks have been able to save them as well as me.

It is not only my child, but the children of others, and children still unborn that suffer most. Think of the agony we feel in times of war, and add it upon itself in an infinitum. That is the agony every young child feels, no matter the race, as they watch their parent walk away from them, only to come home in a casket, if at all....

I ask you all again, is this all we are ?

Orcs judge by actions, not words.

The dwarves attack? The Orcs will defend, and in the old days they would automatically launch a counter attack! It doesn't matter a damn how it makes the weak-willed feel, sad or not.

Orc children will suffer and grow strong. If they fail to grow strong, they die. That is Krug's curse and his blessing.

Orcs don't cry. If an Orc feels sad, they bury it. Orcs do not offer their enemies food, or shelter. They unleash hell 10 TIMES what the enemy has unleashed!!

If Krugmar suffers long, then it is clear who is to blame; The Weak. I am an Elf and even I know this better than some of the current Orcs of Krugmar.

*Cralt groans, as his bandaged thigh sticks out of his bed, Still sore from the very recent Wars with the humans, and defending the relics. He climbs out of his shop, And begins to speak.

The elves did what they did, defend their allies.

They Never attack, always defend.

We did what was right for us, Help the orcs. If we could, we would ally The dwarves and the Humans.

It is our way to welcome all with open arms, and defend our friends. When someone fights against our friends, we defend them. In a case where we allied with all of them, we dont fight.

You must understand, the orcs are the exact opposites of us, And we fight with them.

We fight to defend, not to start wars.
