everblue2er101 906 Share Posted March 9, 2012 I have an old application in here somewhere. This one is brand new. Name Monk Verblu Personality Verblu was born in Laurelin to an Elven mother and unknown father. He knew nothing of his father, only that he was a Northerner human. Growing up, Verblu didn’t fit in with the few other Elf children of Malinor, who thought of him as a Human and not an Elf. Likewise, the Human children in Laurelin thought of him as an Elf. He grew up in the forests and among the trees mostly alone and frequently lonely. He was never teased or bullied for being different, but the rejection by the other children still pained him. From a young age he was forced to work growing mushrooms and selling mushroom stew so that he and his mother could make a few minas to travelers. He never got a proper education, only learning from his mother at night when they had the chance. He is a rather slow reader and rough of speech. Nevertheless, he still enjoys reading and wants to try and become a better. Since they never had enough space to grow a lot of mushrooms Verblu was occasionally hungry as a child, and spent time alone picking apples or fishing. As he grew older he took on odd jobs that didn’t pay very well. He was so focused on making enough minas day to day that at first he hardly noticed the increasing threat of the Undead. As their attacks continued he started to join the battles, and was always horrified at the deaths and injuries. He increasingly turned away from engaging in combat himself and began to try and help those wounded. Although it didn’t pay anything, he felt more and more encouraged by those who were grateful that he was helping them. Among the destruction, he finally felt as though he had a purpose in life. He personally denounced fighting, vowing never to carry a sword. When Aegis fell he fled the ruins of the Cloud Temple with all the others to the boats in the Verge. Once there, he was denied access to the Elven ship for being too Human. Hurt, he tried to get on various other ships, all the time being denied by those who thought he looked like a Human, an Elf, knew he had lived in Malinor or didn’t know him at all. Feeling helpless, he wondered if he would be trapped in Aegis, alone forever. Finally, a Renatus official took pity on him and allowed him on their ship. In Asulon, Verblu found many of the same difficulties. He wanted to move to one of the great Elven cities that reminded him of his home in Laurelin, but everywhere he went people stopped and stared. He wandered then to the Human nations, but again no longer felt that he fit in. He began to wander the lands, travelling to many different areas. Along the way he learned about the places he visited. While wandering in the Mallowyn Woods after two decades of crossing Asulon he fell down a cliff. The fall broke his leg, leaving him unable to move and lying prone in the open to any mobs that wanted to attack him. Through a gap in the trees he could see the full moon, shining brightly above him. Although he could hear the moaning of zombies and howling of wolves all night, Verblu was not touched my monsters. As dawn broke, he succumbed to the pain and fell unconscious. When he awoke, he was in the Sanctuary for the first time. Amazed, he allowed the monks to tend to his broken leg. Under their care, the loneliness, hunger and fear that he had known through various times of his life vanished and he was truly happy for the first time. When he told one of the monks about how he was untouched by mobs under the light of the moon, the monk told him that Lady Rellenia must have saved him. Verblu decided to stay in the Sanctuary, helping those who needed it as he had, finally feeling useful through what he feels to be his true purpose in life. Verblu continues to learn about the lands of Asulon through the monks and the travelers he speaks to, as he can no longer walk very far or very quickly. Verblu has no ill feelings to the people of Asulon, even though many were the ones who ignored or barred him in the past, as he realizes it will be better to forgive and forget. Who were the Celestial Triumvirate? Lord Tariel of the Stars, symbolized by dark blue and lapis lazuli. Lady Rellenia of the Moon, symbolized by light blue and diamond. Lord Keldrith of the Sun, symbolized by gold. A lost traveler comes to the sanctuary and asks, "Monk, where am I? and how might I find my way?" Verblu provides a strange sight of a monk to those who approach him. His leg never fully healed, and he walks with a limp. He is tall, almost seven feet, and always appears to be smiling. “Yer in tha Sanctuary of tha Cloud Temple, in tha center o’ Asulon. How ta find yer way depen’s on where ya want ta go.” “I am an Elf, looking for the lands of Malinor.” “Then ya want ta go down this path ‘ere. There be a large sea that ya need ta cross ta get ta tha Elf lands.” Or... “I ‘m a Man, I want to go to the Human kingdom.” “There be no one kingdom fer tha ‘Umans anymore. But down this road ‘ere ya can get ta Salvus, then Renatus, an’ then Hanseti. Do ya want anything else?” “Well, I am rather hungry, and it seems to be a long walk. Do you have any food for me, monk? “O’ course. Do ya want bread or stew?” He gives the requested food to the traveler. “Ya might not need ta walk tha ‘ole way, I ‘ear there be boats an’ ‘orses that can take ya more quickly if ya can pay fer it.” He explains where to find the transportation. Or... “I am wondering about where I can find work? My pockets are rather threadbare...” “I am told that there be a camp down tha Elven road where ya can gather supplies an’ make some tools. Ya can also go down this road an’ get ta the nation(s) of yer race. In tha big cities there be lots o’ people that can give ya a job.” Or... “Monks! Monks! Quick, I need help, I am hurt!” Verblu runs to the shouter. “Wha be tha problem ‘ere, lad?” He sees the blood on the mans torso. “Oh, my... Any other monks aroun’ ‘ere?!” He quickly supports the man, guiding him to a safe place. He bandages the wounds, helping him as he fades to unconsciousness. Another monk arrives, and they work together to save the mans life. Verblu is concentrating, scared for the man, but confidant that he and his fellow believer can save him. He prays to Lady Rellenia as they work. Or... Bennyrat5454 “hey, whats you’re name?” “I am Verblu, a monk o’ tha Sanctuary. ((Please speak in character, use these brackets for out of character talk.” Bennyrat5454 “((oops, i forgot.)) Oh, I see.” “Are ya new ta these lands, lad? ((Please use /register to set your character card))” John_Smith “Aye, I am. ((oh, thanks.))” OOC: Would also help with any other commands, or if any OOC issues arise. Skin Verblu is actually the half-brother of my current main character Josef Timothee, although they’ve never met and Josef is only aware of his existence, not is name or anything. They have crossed paths before, such as when fighting Undead and on the boats. I’ve developed an actual backstory and personality for him that I haven’t had a chance to use yet, so I figured I’d try and get him accepted as a monk. marimbamonk 1501 Share Posted April 18, 2012 Monk's name: Zachai Their personality: Patient and helpful, Zachai often finds that he gives aid and even adventure to new people that he meets. His best friend is Maximus, who he simply met walking down the Kings Road in Aegis. Zachai feels that he needs to give back to his people, so he enjoys helping the Monks in their duties. Additionally, Zachai likes to chop down wood and collect apples. As a Lumberjack, he often visits the Monk Village and tends to the forest there. Since he often gets so much food and wood, Zachai wants to run the Monk Shoppe near the Temple, right down the dwarven path. He is in the area often. Who were the Celestial Triumvirate: Lord Tariel of the Stars Lord Keldrith of the Sun Lady Rellenia of the Moon A lost traveler comes to the sanctuary and asks, "Monk, where am I? and how might I find my way?": Zachai would answer by saying, "Well, you are at the Wilven Sanctuary. Here is often called the central-place between all nations. What is your race? Maybe I can guide you to your capital city." I would then also make sure that the player understands the use of brackets and OOC, role-playing, and other important thing about LoTC. I would whisper to him and guide him through the new player process. Skin: Because my character does not have a beard, I replaced it with a backpack so it would look nicer. I happen to have skins without the backpack as well, just in case you say these are not acceptable. He was once a great warrior who had slain many foes. When he was killed, he met the monks who had rescued him. This meeting changed his thought process and he no longer thirsted for blood, but for happiness. He abandoned his battle-axe and took up a staff in its place. He left behind his iron chestpiece and donned new robes. He devoted his heart and soul to the Wilven Sanctuary and will guide those who are lost for as long as he shall live. Who were the Celestial Triumvirate: Lord Tariel of the Stars Lord Keldrith of the Sun Lady Rellenia of the Moon A lost traveler comes to the sanctuary and asks, "Monk, where am I? and how might I find my way?": "This is the Cloud Temple. If you seek a home, you can find the human kingdom through the blue tunnel, the Orc Waruzg is through the yellow tunnel and the dwarves are down the orange road." hypercrit 237 Share Posted April 26, 2012 Monk's name? Ario Winterfeather Their personality? His name reflects his personality, he is a gentle soul, like a feather through the wind. He finds great joy in helping the people of Asulon, helping lots ones find their place in the world. This kindness that is around him and within him causes his 'feather' or modd to rise like a soaring spirit, at peace with the world. He is peaceful and loving, and willing to help those of Asulon achieve greatness. Who were the Celestial Triumvirate? They were three celestial beings, by the names of: Lord Tariel of the Stars Lady Rellenia of the Moon Lord Keldrith of the Sun A lost traveler comes to the sanctuary and asks, "Monk, where am I? and how might I find my way?" Ario thinks to himself, 'A lost soul who wishes help, help shall come in basket-loads'. Ario asks the man, "First of all, name your race. Do you have a home?" The man replies, "I'm an elf, did you not see my ears?" The man pulls back his hood, showing large ears that protruded from the height of his very head. His blonde locks flowed with the very winds, giving him an elvish form of beauty. Ario smiled, and questioned, "Have you been to Elandriel yet? It's a fair trek, I can understand if you have not visited." The elf turned his head in a confused manner. He had obviously not been to nor heard of Elandriel. Ario decided to describe it: "It's a wondrous place, filled with luscious natural beauty. The canopy seems to reach to the sky itself, the clouds encasing them, wrapping them in a glowing apparition. The ground is filled with flowers of many colours, purple, yellow, orange. They are all there, they beckon you like love itself. The trek to Elandriel is by far the most worthwhile walk you will ever take." The elf, after listening to this, seemed almost jumping at the chance to visit this place. Ario hands him a paper with a scrawling on it. "You will need this." It was a map to the Sanctuary docks. "I believe that you will find a boat there, to Elandriel or another elven city. Where you go is up to you, but boats can be taken from those docks." Ario handed him a sack of apples, and a piece of bread, and sent him on his way. ~ Ashdrek / CalmCrysis ~ 32 Share Posted April 28, 2012 Monks Name: Alistria Their Personality: Alistria is a well-mannered individual whom prides herself on her ability to communicate to the less privileged and sick. She was once an avid reader, reading all she could from libraries, and occasionally "borrowing with no intent to return" a few rare manuscripts for studying. Now she has amassed knowledge of most subjects in the world of Asulon, and has decided to put that knowledge to use to teach those who awaken at the Cloud Temple of their new environment and both its dangers and her beauty. You are in the great lands of Asulon. I can see you are a strong human lad, eager to prove himself as a warrior or eager to get out on the farms and enjoy life as a farmer? Either way, your best bet is to head down this path, *points toward to Human path leading to Hanseti and Renatus, and the now destroyed Salvus* I would suggest either travelling to Renatus, and speaking with His Majesty, King Godfrey, or travelling to Hanseti, and speaking with their leader, but for now, sit...Rest. I presume your journey was strenuous. Here, take this. *She sits down on a bench, and hands the traveller a slice of bread* Asulon is a land of great mystery, but as a Monk, I try to seek all knowledge about it. It is a strange land, but full of beauty and finesse. If you have any questions, ask them, and I will happily give you an answer...To the best of my knowledge, of course. So, What did you want to ask? Skin: . Thanks for reading. Alistria.
