  1. 1. What is your opinion on the population of Villains?

    • There are too many! Don't accept any other players!
    • There are too few! Be more lenient and accept more!
    • The villainous population is perfectly sized! Only accept a few to balance out those who leave.
    • Continue to let the villainous population grow slowly, only accepting very good and original applications.
    • Do whatever you are doing now! I either don't care or don't notice.
  2. 2. What is your opinion on the quality of villains?

    • Villains make RP fun! I enjoy my villainous experiences.
    • I hate villains! They are poor RPers, and I dread meeting them.
    • Some villains are exceptional, but the majority are very poor.
    • Most villains are fine, but some ruin my playing experience.
  3. 3. What would you like to see from villains/VAT team?

    • More bandits/thugs/PvPers!
    • More crazy people!
    • More unique/quirky villains!
    • More subtle/non-PvP villains!
    • A separate opinion that I will state below!
    • (Hypothetical) Don't allow bandits to have any minas; will weed out poor RPers.
    • (Hypothetical) Get rid of VAs and simply ban lots of people.
    • (Hypothetical) Make "Villain" a race and give them special buffs/nerfs.
    • (Hypothetical) Make villains have a limited number of deaths before permanent character deletion - wounded soul or something.

Honestly, we need no more 'twisted, destitute, Joker (Dark Knight Version predominantly) wannabes', people need to expand their horizons from the cliche, Anime derived villains and entertain us with different breeds of 'villainry', perhaps go with something that can be viewed from two sides, one thinking they are indeed evil, and one side that thinks they truly are not?

I think there should be more villains who don't have ya know.

Dark, Evil robes.

Red Eyes

and laugh crazily.

I want some more unique villains, that would be great.

I don't want anymore crazy cults either.

Nor do I wish for more bandits who just wish to PvP.

What happened to RP PvP? I think that's really fun!

If your character is an anti-hero type, who only resorted to thievery because they're poor, need food, et cetera. Then whenever you get Diamond Armour and 18,000 Minas, you would probably settle down. My problem is with villains who don't follow the standards they put on their character.

But most people become unintentionally prejudiced against Villains (the same thing happened to Undead) because they've met the bad apples. But with the addition of the Player Feedback forum, if you feel that a Villain's roleplay is inadequate, just make a thoughtful and informative post there explaining your problem with that Villain. I am sure the GMs (and most VAT are FMs also) would kindly look through it at your opinion, and make an action based on that.

I've designed my character with the intent of being a subtle villain in mind. On the last server I played on, there were far too few villains and everyone was a shining-paragon-beacon-of-white-knight-just-goodness in a contest for the most noble death. That doesn't seem to be the case here. My idea was to provide a fun, refreshing, villainous experience for people whilst improving my own roleplaying ability, but if everyone's sick of villains I may reconsider my character.

However, I've yet to apply for one, and I've just kind of been shuffling around pretending to be my character on a good day for the past few weeks, so it's really not too late to change. I'd still very much like to play the character I have in mind, but not if it's going to be a bother to anyone. According to the polls though, most people are only tired of cliche villains and bandits, so - How does this character sound as a villain:

- Avoids combat, using deceit and manipulation as a substitute

- Exploits the dark side of humanity (but not just humans) and regards himself as superior for not being weak.

By this I mean he would do something like offer Person A the options of saving Person B's life or Person A living the rest of his life in comfort. The idea is that Person A succumbs to his dark side and selfishly chooses the life of comfort while Person B dies. Alternatively, Person A chooses to save B and my character continues to test his alleged pure heart, which makes for an interesting plot all the same.

- Weaves his way into politics and positions himself in a prime spot, outside of the public eye yet in power.

- Eventually intends to recreate society, void of human weakness, but must destroy it first. Not quite sure about this one. I'm not going to actively strive for it, but it would be my character's goal.

- Criminal mastermind.

Tell me if there are already characters like this, or have been, because I'd either like to be original or not a villain at all.

Honestly, The Kind of Villains, in my head, that we don't need any more of:

  • Psychos.
  • PVP Bandits.
  • Weird Joker people with cults.

More of...
  • Political Corruption.
  • Organised crimes.
  • Criminal masterminds.

I think Political corrupters are the kind we need.

Sounds quite a bit like my character! I won't stop you from pursuing this, though. Lord of the Craft is sore for political upheaval and mass manipulation. It's a great ride, too. Believe me. If you do it right, you'll never get caught. You'll befriend the very people you drag through the mud, and the slightest suspicions will be cast out by your goodly reputation. The best part is, you often leave fellow villains foggy-minded upon beholding your mystique. After all, as long as you get what you want done, nobody need understand you save yourself.

I've met one awesome villain and two sorta sucky ones. I still look forward to see a villain though. I especially like being eaten. That's good rp

Go over the active villain applications, remove any that are not up to standards that need to. (Lower Evil Villains will be removed most likely.)

How could you see whether someone is active with his Villain apl or not?

Although some players you can know that they actually use it, Yes.

Personally, I think that theyshouldonly let them in by it actually happening in Rp for their Bio's.

Many make up rediculous stories, I believe they should rp it out IG which when coming to biographies would make them more detailed and respectful rp to if

L out etc

Political corruption is impossible. The only possible way to do so is being a complete villain icly and oocly. You have to lie through your teeth all the time, and make friends with people you dislike oocly, all for just one moment before you break out of character and turn the tables on them.

Its too much effort and not enough fun for that one moment.

EDIT: And before I forget, I feel that Villain Applications should be renamed to Advanced Applications. I feel its less cliched and more suitable to what the application actually is.

Best Idea I have heard in a while. I myself have considered applying for a Villain app... but the words "Villain app" make it sound so negative, when in truth my character is good, looks out for the people of Asulon, but may need to stretch a few truths to stay alive so close to the orcs, and also living in the wilderness without mining or combat skills requires a silver tongue to get the goods/repairs that I need. Not something easily done with a perfect never lies normal character. I know of several occasions where people do "OOC background checks" to see if someone is a villain before giving them permissions.... I think the VA's or hopefully soon to be called "Advanced Apps" Should be more secretive. In RL you have no idea who is a thief and a murder, until they are caught. Just my 2 cents. I'd love to shade the line from time to time, but its not worth the loss in standing at the moment.

I was just thinking...what about something opposite of a villain like a hero? So like if you want to become more heroic and save someone from a life threatening villain you can RP kill them.
