Mystery Of Mallowlyn

The wanderer leans back in his chair and holds up a myriad of rough sketches depicting towering trees and aged towers.

"Would anyone care to listen to an adventurer's tale of wooden giants and secluded towers forgotten by time?" He grins as a few wander closer to his table. He clears his throat and begins.

"The trees...oh, the trees! The wood has a very fragrant smell, it does. Sweeter than the sweetest perfume. The wild flowers overtake the clearings and mushrooms the size of your fist peek up from clumps of wild grass. Quite a wonderful place, I must say. Heh, if it wasn't snow snowy, I'd probably skip through the forest, naked and natural." He chuckles then continues. "Now, while exploring in the woods, I happened upon this...tower. Quite an eerie thing, I have to say."

"It extends into the sky, maybe halfway up, or two thirds up, I can't remember, up the side of one of the resident giants. The stone is worn and covered in moss. If I would give it an age, I'd probably say old." Again, he chuckles and takes a small sip of ale from the tankard in front of him.

"There's no way inside, though. I tried long and hard to break down the damn doors to no avail. I'm quite convinced there is treasure inside, or at least something precious. Peering through the door's glass, I thought I could see the warm glow of a torch. Perhaps someone lives there? Who knows." He shrugs, takes another sip, then continues to regale.

"Now, to make this story even odder, there's a sword in the "yard", so to speak. Seems to be a nice thing, but it happens to be stuck inside a rock. Don't ask me how the damn thing got in there or why I can't pull it out. I'm hoping one of YOU could answer that. I tugged at that thing for what it seemed like hours then gave up. Got these sketches for anyone wondering." After a sip of ale he slides the sketches across the table towards the crowd.

"So. What do YOU know?"

((I found that place some weeks ago, it feels pointless as I sat there for around an hour looking around, parkcouring and there was no way in. I feel like this is one of the more pointless ruins.))

((That was the first set of ruins that I came across on the release of the new world. Originally, you could get inside, but it was in pretty bad repair.))

Josef examines the drawings carefully.

I think I found these... but it was long ago. I can't remember much about- Oh! I was attacked there by skeletons, that's right. Long battle, too, nearly ended me. I would like to go back, I fled pretty quickly...

I have stumbled upon that tower too... Didn't stay long though, as I had things to do.

((The tower is not deserted, FYI. ;) ))

With a raised brow you watch the very same wanderer from nearly a year and a half ago return. He stumbles back over towards the empty seat where he had first regaled with the tale of an ancient tower that supposedly hid ancient treasures. Hoping that maybe he has a new story of some decrepit ruin you make your way over to the table and take seat opposite of him. Before you even open your mouth he begins speaking, a note of fear hinting in his words.

"T-that...tower. I MUST know what's inside." He rests his shaky hands on the table. "I went back there again, ya know? Just to see if I could -somehow- force my way in. Just to look around, ya know? It's not like I wanted to take anything." He winces and rubs the back of his neck. "There's a grave there now. Really fancy, at the base of one of the giant reds. Can't remember what the memorial says but there's a huge hunk of diamond. I did what any man of an upright moral code would do; I tried to take it." He sighs as a cheezy grin overtakes his visage. "That's when -something- grabbed the back of my neck. Quite forcefully, too. Hurt, a lot." He reaffirms his claim with another long neck rub. "Now this thing that grabbed me...Looked like a tall woman, had tusks, light complexion. Not sure how that all works but that's not the point. She said somethin' about skinwalkers and evil things up in that tower. At that point I just wanted to leave quite quickly and in the opposite direction of that" he shudders "beast. She eventually set me down and motioned for me to leave. Came back here as quickly as I could. I was hopin' to find others who've been to that tower since my last visit here." He leans back far in his chair, composure finally regained. "Could be quite a bit of money in that hunk of diamond should we be able to get it outta -there-..."
