I shall share with you the conversation I had with Mogroka. Again, I hold no personal grudges against him or any of the admin staff, and in fairness it is only the timing which has been the main issue, which both Shiftnative and Mogroka apologised to me personally for, so I am passing that apology on to you. Here's the conversation that went down. I think it may be wise to lock this thread now. Its another minor setback in a long long looooong list. We've worked around all the others, I don't see how one more can harm! Also I still can't access the applications subforum. Could you sort that out for me Nikias :)?

Xerdun:

Okay, so firstly I'd like to add a little disclaimer or foreword. I don't want this to look as though I am going against your wishes. I hope you both had the opportunity to read the cringeworthy words I said about the GM team earlier. I am coming before you on the basis that Borgtrek7 indicated that he had reached a compromise with Mogroka that the transformation could stay as a feature if it was made less powergamery and more rigid. If this is incorrect then I apologise. I also want to add that my personal decision is irrelevant in this instance as after some thought I am fairly impartial to either of the outcomes, I'm merely here on behalf of the Kharajyr community - my people as it were I suppose...

So, what we were thinking was something along the lines of a much more strict, time consuming and difficult ritual. This would involve at the very least 2 Priests to be present. The entire process would take around 15 minutes to perform in its entirety and would involve the participant willingly placing their hands onto the stone. If they are a true believer in Metztli and she has deemed them worthy their body will be consumed by light. At this point 2 Priests of Metztli will take hold of the participant and try to contain the convulsing body whilst chanting and channelling their holy energy into the individual. After some time the participant will collapse on the floor and will log off for X amount of time to simulate the change taking place. The Priests must also take some time to rest after performing the ceremony, limiting the number of transformations that could occur. Metztli, being only weak after years of neglect would also be severely weakened and would need to be "refuelled" with sacrifices of beast and ape before another transformation can occur. As before, there will be Kharajyr produced as a result of breeding, however the aim would be to make this much more common.

In addition to this we would craft some more robust lore around the stone itself, how it came into creation and why, more about the original race of Kharajyr - who would probably follow a similar pattern of lore to what you came up with. Perhaps after becoming disobedient Metztli punished the original Kharajyr with something like a volcano (as you suggested) wiping them out. Unable to take physical form once more Metztli left the stone in order to continue the lineage of her perfect creations once a suitable selection of people was found.

This is a rough draft of a possible compromise. Any decision you make at this point will be final and I (and hopefully the community) will be fully understanding and accepting. Sorry to be a bother, as I said, I do this on behalf of my subjects

All the best to you both - I have an unbelievable amount of respect for you both and your decision will have no bearing on that

EDIT: For whatever reason I was unable to send this to shiftnative. Regardless, these words are primarily for you Mogroka

Mogroka:

The problem is it dose not remove the powergaming aspect of transforming another race into a new species all together, as it is not possible to transform a 11 foot orc that wights 600+ ponds into a catman thats 150+ pounds and 6-7 feet tall, or a halfling thats 50 pounds 3 feet tall into that either.

And the transforming some elf that's 700 years old into a 15 year old, fixing and healing every scar dis formality illness etc from its body.

Also the fact remains that If another races raids and try's to destroy your stone, you would most likely say no or the community of the Kha well be very upset and a lot of ooc hate well come from it.

The best course of action in my mind is just to go with it, in a new lore sense, of the old one.

Xerdun:

Very well, as I said I would respect your wishes :)

Would you mind me making this conversation public so I can share with people the reasoning behind it so hopefully they better understand? I shall finish off the new lore tomorrow, I'm too tired and lack the creativity to do it justice now. Thank you for giving us a fair hearing nonetheless, its much appreciated

Just...just.....

bumbo-chair1.jpg

This ruins everything!!!

1. I'm not scrapping Regaki.

2. Making Regaki go "missing" is highly unlikely, and I have no reason for it to happen.

3. We've already RPed in the current Kharajyr camp, do we just scrap all that? Or why are we all here?

4. I don't want more than 1 character <_<

All of this is understandable. The information comes at a very troubling time, but I'm sure the admins are always working hard to make this server great and are helping us along too. So we write new lore and scrap our old views of our character, this may not sound great to some, but on a positive note, writing VA's and any application in general will be much easier now. I actually just finished my VA before reading this and I think it will be good to re-write it with this new lore that will be created. It's not that the GM's are trying to take us down or anything, they just know we might become so amazing that everyone will just kill themselves at the sight of us, not even willing to fight. (Yay! Sarcasm!) I personally respect the GM's decisions and I think every little thing is gonna be alright.

So we write new lore and scrap our...old character

Is it fun to have to scrap the last 5 months I've Rped with him and get a stats reset? :???:

I understand everyone's disappointment but there's really nothing I can do. I'm going to try and fight for the stat reset to be optional - after all if we have supposed to of been on our island for some time it wouldn't make sense for us to all have no skills...

I don't know what you guys are expecting, trust me when I say I know your pain, but moping about it is not going to change the decision, we need to move on and diversify. If people don't want to become Kharajyr in wake of this decision then that's up to you entirely, I will not hold it against anyone, but I think under the new lore we have the potential to create something better...

Whether that's true or not remains to be seen, I just find it comforting to tell myself that

Well my idea for the current people at the Kharajyr camp was for them to board the ship and, that Metzli does not love them (our characters) she was trapping us. On the sea a storm hits us with Metzli in catform (in the sky) shooting lightning at us while were sinking in the middle of the ocean.

So essentially all our current characters die off in the ride over to the new island? Then we start our new characters actually on the island? Sounds good to me

Some people know how to swim ^.^ unless she kills us all with lightning...which wouldn't make sense because she's supposed to be uber weak by Mogroka's standards.

Yes, I love to whine and complain, it's one of my past times. I don't see the problem with keeping the lore we already had.

The lapis cat statue would transform people, it's the last thing Metzli left in Asulon before (blablabla she goes into her sleep or whatever) and it has the ability to transform people.

Is that any more powergaming than the Blood Mages that have no lore whatsoever? That magically get usage of Magicspells? (I haven't seen or heard of the lore anyway) That GM's get to run around using magicspells and mobdisguise however they want, even though regular players can't use it? (I've seen this firsthand)

Yes, it's true, if my character hadn't been in the Mages Guild, and had training with the Shades, and wasn't in the Dark Brotherhood, with all the stats I've worked hard for, I probably wouldn't care as much. But seeing as I've devoted 5 months into my character, it's a little UBER frustrating to have to scrap him.

This is my argument.

Discuss it with Mogroka... maybe your points could be validated, but the team seems pretty set on the decision. The lore that I'm coming up with for the Kharajyr is a lot darker than before, maybe that's a good thing, maybe not, we'll see, but the culture will see very little change, pretty much because I don't have the drive to revamp everything :P

I will be keeping Lykos as an alt at least... The stuff I have written up for him is too good for him to just die by sinking in a boat...

Excuse me..? Mogroka a meanie..?

Do any of you have any idea the HELL a GM goes through daily on a SMALL server consisting of only 50 people? I got bent over backwards in my section of Hurricane craft so hard it's not even funny.

Mogroka manages Renatus, the Orcs, the Mori, as well as Modreqs, general GM work, regioning, not to mention having to deal with my whiny ass, as well as all you YOUR whiny asses. He does all this while out abroad, AWAY FROM HIS FAMILY, in another country to study. He never has time to himself anymore, he's always managing Admin stuff, or doing schoolwork.

And for Native, do you have any idea how much work he does daily? He's basically become the parent to all the people here on LOTC, caring for each of their problems and taking time out of his day. I ty so hard to bring him into a channel to be left alone, to just chat and see how he's doing. In less than a minute five plus people will come in screaming 'Native! Native! Hey native!' and pester him when he just wants a break.

The two of them are trying their hardest to make things FAIR AND BALANCED, and you jsut smack them in the face because they didn't have time, with all they have to do already, to pay attention to your lore first?

The lot of you need to step the hell off and realize how hard they work so that us, the players, can have it easy.

Thats a little depressing but im sure we can make an even better lore!

This exactly. So something had to be changed, guess what?

It can only be changed for the better.
