Salvus, Once A Nation

Rodrigo Stark walks up through the main gate of Solace. Arround him there's no-one. Not even a soul lives on that place anymore.

As he walks through the desolated streets he looks down. In the floor ashes of a burned tree lies dispersing as he walks through.

He arrives at the once called Dawn's Bakery just to find himself a buffet of Rotten Food and all the place looted and disordinated.

Rodrigo enters the palace which walls seem torn apart and chests empty everywhere. Not a single light is seen. Salvus flag lies in the floor of the throne room.

They didn't end up burning it down, but they managed to kill the heart of the nation - the people that cared, the people that dedicated time to develop it, the people that had fun there. They are either dead or wandered off. Surely a glorious victory for Asulon it is.

"I regret only that I had to do what I did for the sake of the many over the sake of the few. I only wish Dawn had not been so terribly murdered. It sickens me that the Ordinators slew their Queen in an attempt to save themselves. The poor woman. May she walk the Seven Skies till the end of time in peace."

Lorethos grunts, looking about the empty city.

"I ended the death here. No one murders in the streets anymore. No one dies or finds themselves tortured by corrupt guards. Salvus soon falls under the folds of True Oren. Fear not, His Majesty King Godfrey will see Salvus' revival as it's King, as he did with Renatus."

Indeed, and well said. It is sad to see.

And what's worse, now I have no idea where to go to find people. Every time I ask IC I get no help.

((With Solace deserted, we can get some of the people who didn't have nations to conform and help contribute to development. There are many places to go. Malinor, Renatus, Karik, Hanseti, Alras.

Despite what many may thing, the loss of Solace is best for the server as a whole. No more siphoning population.))

A new day dawns just as Josef reaches the front gates of Solace. He had often visited the city in the past, to visit people, go to the shops, or do... other things... But now...

The city of Solace, once claimed as the capital of a vibrant, peaceful nation, lays deserted. The neglect is obvious, all around. Josef is actually pained to see it. Did the people of Salvus really deserve this? Was it fair to them to have their crops burned, shops looted, homes attacked? And then... he remembers Dawn, he remembers Enor, he remembers the Peacekeepers and what they became. The people... they supported the corrupt rule, he thinks. They cannot be blamed entirely... but they still played their part.

Something crunches underfoot. Drawing back, he sees a balled up piece of formerly crisp parchment. He has to grin as he reads it - an advertisement for one of the shops. Recrumpling it, he lets it fall and be blown away by the wind.

This city had not been a terrible place. He remembered, as he stood there now, the time he saw the Sheffields in front of the Bakery. They had seemed so calm, relaxed, in control. He had met with Dawn behind it to discuss plans between Renatus and Salvus. In the Salvus cathedral, he had come to pray, hoping to give more time to his own life and that of his sisters. All for naught... But he remembered the other times. Seeing the 'Peacekeepers' and what they did, watching the daughter of the Renatan noble getting beaten under the very nose of Dawn, the feeling of terror and then shock and disgust when he saw Lucas Black walk in the streets, not challenged by anyone. This is best for the city... he thinks. Best for Salvus. Sometimes, change must occur. Sometimes... it is all for the best.

With one last look at the empty, desolate city, he turns abruptly. His cane makes a sharp ticking noise as he leaves the city... for the last time.
