Goblin 18 Share Posted May 30, 2012 Very nice, but if gets hit from hands or in middle of face, it should damage.
Nefarious Aus Shitpost 891 Share Posted May 30, 2012 Plate armor did very little versus blunt force. Chainmail and Leather should get resistance bonuses to Axes and plate armour (Iron, Gold and Diamond) should get resistance bonuses to swords and arrows imo. Blawharag 277 Share Posted May 30, 2012 Why not just make a skill so that if that skill is high enough you run faster.. Because this has massive implications on balance. Adding another skill means people now have to further choose where to put skill points. A system previously balanced to fit is now thrown out of whack because people need to invest in all new skills to be viable. Counteract this by giving more skill points, and non-melee classes suddenly have more skill points than intended. Furthermore what you will begin to have is a yes or no scenario. People will end up making a choice: Either I am better with armor, or with skills in something else. With a number like 80% reduced damage, investing those skill points will either become an overpowered act (or most likely a required act, which is just as bad)or it will become a useless act (I.E. i am universally better off putting points into something else than I am in putting it towards armor). Without this skill people have choice. I can be an all out melee guy, or I can invest some points into melee and be an effective melee guy but still have reasonable utility elsewhere. Add this and you will either be all out melee, or not at all. You cannot have an interesting scenario where people can flesh out their RP a little more. You have to be stupid specialized or not at all. It just hurts the server at the end of the day. Far easier and more effective a solution to just tack on a hunger drain
ShadowNinji 34 Share Posted June 1, 2012 Screw this idea and spend your time coding an actual shield mod. Keep armour how it is.

youlovesocks 652 Share Posted July 6, 2012 Everyone could be complaining about the slowness but if we are going for realistic events, That's how it was. You wouldn't see a knight in full plate armor sprinting across the battlefield just as fast an archer wearing leather chaps, and protection. Those are the benefits of being an archer/hunter, as you do not have as much protection and defense on your side, you have versatility. Knights have to give up versatility for protection. It goes both ways. This also improves the fact of bandits along the road. If the bandits were fully armored, and yelling at you to give up your minas or precious items, Running away would be of no use, as they would be just as fast as you even though they are wearing full plated iron armor. And iron is HEAVY. It should reflect as so. On topic of the armor making you invincible... Chain mail armor wouldn't be able to stop an arrow from an archer across the battle, the arrow would simply go straight through the chain. As well as a spear/stab with a sword. I don't believe that this armor concept ensures realism throughout Asulon and we should look for a more suitable solution. Thanks :)
Brevias 275 Share Posted July 6, 2012 Realism is cute and all, but I don't want anymore of it thank you. I think it's fine how it is.
Blundermore 2741 Share Posted July 6, 2012 I would still like to see a slowness to armour... it doesn't make sense that someone with no armour cannot out run someone in super heavy diamond armour.
TRAY 162 Share Posted July 6, 2012 Honestly no, I've played on servers that had something like this, and PvP with Diamond Armor literally takes 10-15 mins. It is quite ridiculous, and not fun what so ever.
CTap 111 Share Posted July 6, 2012 I agree with bubs. The server we played on had this.. eh...

Will (TauFirewarrior) 2466 Share Posted July 7, 2012 Well I have to say, Iron should be made faster, reason being, plate armour would weigh 40 to 45 pounds now that may sound like a lot or not a lot but compare it to the 200 pounds of equipment the average paratrooper of the second world war would have to wear, the paratrooper could still run admittedly the troopers were fit so they could carry the weight, but you compare it to troopers today, they wear at least 80 pounds worth of equipment in the field and they can run, sprint and jump. Just my two cents I hope you take it under advisement.
Cyndikate 2303 Share Posted July 7, 2012 I'd say diamond armor should be buffed to viability again. Anything to compensate for the armor slowness.
