I updated my post (and added to kha sneakiness). If you want to see, it's on pg 36. It's the big one.

I agree with you that the mithril diamonds would create GREAT rp :D just make lots of dwarves die to get it... (Custom balrog mobs ftw!)

Concerning skill debuffs... We can't all be equal on some level. Some people really are worse than average at certain things, and this distinction only comes out more when we create fantasy races on certain special characteristics.

not seeing why people believe dwarves having a diamond monopoly would be so wonderful

could perhaps split it up and limit it but having say the Mori have a few, make them a bit more relevant, though from my memory they have no significant mining/smithing lineage

stats/racial bonuses would be nice to have race actually mean something aside from being a skin and excuse to have your character live forever (looks at vast number of (half) elves >_>)

don't like the idea of limiting how nations RP out themselves (in terms of elves not entering aggressive wars) think elves are a bit too static as is

hmm limiting elven population would be all well and good, more lore fitting and fewer immortals, but if a third of the server didn't already play as them, impossible to do without

  • keeping the current members, making it ineffective
  • forcing people to abandon characters

either wouldn't work or be somewhere between impossible and rage inducing on the community

I personally think we should make diamonds as rare as emeralds. The dwarves would naturally take over most of the hilly terrain, leaving them with most of the diamonds but they wouldn't have a total monopoly, any other place set on the hills would have a chance for diamonds.

@Iosanguin

What I said about the elves not entering wars was not a suggestion to make that a rule to limit rp, but only an explanation for my reasoning to put the skill buffs and debuffs as I did.

Concerning the low population of elves, I was more thinking that this could be implemented in 3.0 when we move and many people get rid of their old characters. I'm not for forcing people to give up their characters the vast majority of the time, and wouldn't support such a thing in this circumstance.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think that the dwarves will have a natural monopoly over the diamonds. I am not for enforcing it ooc'ly or anything, but they will naturally be the ones able to reach the Very deep very dangerous very rare dungeon/caves where the diamonds spawn more readily. The same goes with the Mori. Keep in mind that this would only be valid if we ended up setting the sea level at y=140 or thereabouts.

Don't force people not to war or kill off their characters.

As for monopolizing. I could see much rp. Dwarves need food so they either have to hire a farmer or trade with them ad then the farmer with all these ores can sell that to others for mass profit. Not everyone should be in full diamond it should be rare and hard to come by. Thats why I loved the small mining chances it had in aegis. But people qq cause they want to be rich like everyone else so vaq buffed it.

Let's see any ideas... hmmm...

Once we move into the next world I say... NO MORE UNDEAD! And by that I mean no more common enemies.

Now, you're probably like, "No's you're wrong cov, you're wrong!"

And I say, "Wait... hold it. Lemmie exrain!"

Once I read about the Dwarves and Humans forming an alliance, and the elves getting back together an idea struck me in the face... yea, it kinda hurt.

MY IDERRRR...

Instead of alliances with each other, each leader of each race/ kingdom will join and they will vote to have one leader for the new world. They all vote for themselves. So, each race goes to war with each other. They start out all against each other, then make alliances. There's defeats, backstabbing, epic 1v1v1 battles. And there could be a last battle to choose who gets the throne, and each nation fights alone. Like 1v1v1v1v1v1v1v1v1v1v1.........

I guess sorta like Game of Thrones, but LoTC style.

Just an idea. Definately needs to be thought over.

Anyway... happy rping.

I think thats a great Idea. My only complaint is, I do think there should be an enemy. But it should be much more shrouded in mystery. Something that you can't quite fight...physically. I think all this stuff with making undead attack towns and other things. I was thinking maybe a disease? Something in the new lands that has been there for very long, and its why no one inhabits the island, but there is still ruins and buildings...Where did they go?

Maybe if the disease idea you don't like, maybe a race that keeps millions of ancient artifacts and has kept them hidden from all, there would be bad things happening as you open and uncover these artifacts and maybe some good things. Also the gods and patrons from Asulon and Aegis should not have much power in here as well.

Maybe, there is people and they are hidden inside a secret chamber, where they await to be woken, for good or harm.

I think it would be a good idea, because while everyone is having their political wars, this ancient evil or wathever is slowly being uncovered.

Everything that you said about the wars between races has been happening. The orcs and Dwarves have been fighting for around 3 months now. Along the way Oren, Levanthus, Subdai, and Elves all got pulled in. There has also not been one main enemy for 8 months now. Onto your idea about one leader. Im pretty sure no race would submit to having another race rule them and everyone else. Orcs would probably win and where the h*ll would the RP sense of letting them take over?! I for one know it would end up as it is now with this many nations.

I think, if certain people want to keep there characters, (Especially long lived ones like the Elves) they should be allowed to. But I'm with everyone else on this. Let's stop worrying about how a new map can be better, and work on how the map we HAVE could be better! Also, starting all new? I understand Native wants to use the worldpaint tool ALOT, and that it can make cool things, but changing map just because of that? Or are there other reasons I'm missing? I like Asulon, and I think we should stay here for a while longer, and worry about how to fix this map, not how the next place we go will be better.

well, for once I'll actually +1 something

honestly, are a lot of things that will eventually have to be dealt with (emeralds don't exist on the current map, neither do desert/jungle temples, biomes are small and jumbly (improved in update), map height limit isn't utilized, and mining resources in the more historically inhabited areas are likely very thin I'd think, which in turn will require miners to abandon the centralized areas...

Asulon, why you so troubled >_>

then again, old hats typically want things like in Aegis, new hats want to improve Asulon but find Aegis too rigid, must be third option

The purpose of this thread is to discuss how to make the possible new map better, obviously it is better to improve our current map first, but if the server does deciede for a new map it would be much better for the creators to see what players wanted than just take shots in the dark.

-To respond to the idea of one ruler-

I don't think this would work simply because there is no RP reason for the nation leaders to allow that to happen. Additionally, doing so would provide only RP to those of political importance and maybe a few high up soldiers, not the whole server. I in fact want a boss enemy, just not one that can be solved by PvP.

These are all the ideas I've been collecting for the past 4 days, so I'm sorry if any of this has already been said, but at the moment I am tired and didn't feel like reading through 12 pages of text (But I did read the op, and some of the comments at the beginning and towards the end, but not all twelve pages.) And it may sound a bit ranty, but that's how I get when I'm running on coffee.

How we going to get there?:

Please no common enemies like the undead... please. Let's just keep it simple, maybe restrict it to natural disaster or a famine, of pollution, but no undead, for heaven's sake!

But personally i think a HUGE under ground cave in that made a huge inactive volcano (Much like the one in Yellowstone national park) go boom, so we can all safely sit on the shore and watch Asulon go Kleblewy from our boats, we would liberality go out with a bang...

Features I'd like to see in a map:

I love Asulon just like all of you guys, but being fairly new I never had a chance to experience Aegis in person. But like everyone else I have problems with this map (Again just like everyone else I have problems with RP spread, amount of towns/villages, etc.) But I feel that when we move to the new map (It will happen and hopefully this will be the last time.) we need to have more established trade. Meaning meduim-large paved roads or "Highways" that would offer save travel. This would make trade simpler and safer, and if a few towns and inns would placed on this road/highway it would help the flow of RP.

Because of the skills we need to rely on others, I LOVE THIS, because if I want something I need to find someone that is more skilled than my character in whatever to help me (Which makes more RP, blah, blah, blah)... but this can be hard, since these people (I'm talking about blacksmiths, cooks, etc.) are spread so far apart. Now I purpose we make a small directory in the spawn were it points out some of these people and where to find them.

Now my next point, there should be NO wilds on the main land. Why? Because the wilds are were the most land scarring happens, making everything ugly. They are also were a lot of wannabe homes/towns are made, and since they are so vast they spread out RP. But I'm not saying get rid of them completely, maybe we could have a series of islands ether linked to the main server via multi-verse (Like previous mining ideas) or just somewhat out of the way of the main land.

Also I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE to see academies, schools and such, that are near the spawn... Why? Because I am SOOOO tired of people rping self taught sword/bow/etc. masters. And with schools you'd have a chance to learn IC about your trade and such, while Rping.

Races:

I am in NO WAY against new races but I'd like to stick to the basic 5 we have at the moment

(This is how I have categorized them and is not official)

Elves

Subraces:

High Elf

Wood Elf

Dark Elf

Dwarves:

Subraces:

Mountain Dwarves

Cave Dwarves

Forest Dwarves

Humans:

Subraces:

Halflings

and the "Common folk"

Orcs:

Subraces:

Orcs

Goblins

and the Kha

PvP:

This is a RP sever, simple as that, PvP must be agreed upon by both parties. There should also be an arena near spawn were disputes may be settled and such with combat for all to see.

New spawn:

When you get on for the VERY first time the rules should be displayed blah, blah , blah, but at the end their should be a maze that will test the persons knowledge of all rules, etc. and if you get through you get some staring minas. YAY!

Plugins:

Vaq= unappreciated coding god

I find that most of Vaq's updates help RP by giving people something visual to a skill; Such as the recent herbalism skill. Allowing healers, Alchemists, and the like a reason to RP and get paid as one by giving them the things to do their jobs both by RP and MC standards.

And I recently had an Idea that we should split stamina (How long you can sprint) and hunger up by using the useless xp bar. It is simple, the xp bar would always be full, and when you start sprinting it would slowly go down to zero, when it is empty it will make you stop running, and it would slowly regenerate. And the fuller you are the faster it would regen.

Remember these are ideas, so I'll add more as I think of stuff...

should certainly be wilds, or at least a smaller percent of the map that's claimed for the sake of builders

think towns should actually require a lore thread that gets accepted, with requirement of X number of paragraphs prior to becoming towns, to make towns a bit more rare, meaningful, and so that we hopefully see fewer "this town was created to be free (from _____) because that's what my character is like, we build like this and believe in freedom and cornflakes"

always found it ironic that most of those towns are written to have the founding character as an autocratic king >_>

hmm on races I am a bit disappointed with dark elves and Mori

it's more a dark elf thing, the Mori have actual RP, lore, and cultural characteristics to them(low population unfortunately), the dark elves lack any real distinction or characteristic other than their skintone

not quite to the point where I say just merge dark elves into Mori (it'd make a mess of things), but it's something that really should be delved into on some lore thread or something

on Kha, I'm a bit displeased with how the entire point to them seems to be they are furries(not against furries personally), one could say no, they have this lore and that lore behind them, but still it doesn't change that they sit around their island and interact very little with the outside world when not getting ground into paste for Orc children

don't think pvp should necessarily be agreed upon, since a number of activities such as ambushes and all criminal acts would either be rarely if ever agreed to or Meta'd into meaninglessness, course I'd like to see fewer criminals that just throw their lives away and don't fear/care about consequences to their actions

I said we'd still have wilds, just not on the mainlands (look at my post I said "But that doesn't mean we should get rid of it" or something along those lines...)

I agree with the entire towns should have lore and I hate it when people just make them just to have a title...

I mixed the Dark elves and the Mori, only because all the dark elves I've seen are Moris, and have seen few that are not... but if we must it's ok if they're separate...

Just for the sake of argument, most Kha I have seen are kittens and such, and I enjoy their Rp (both adult Kha's and kittens) because they are so... how do I put this nicely? Odd, for the average Asulonian (just a random word I made up cause I could tongue.gif) But I would love if they were more common, and in the new map I think they should have a small jungle surrounded by small mountains... filled with old Aztec like ruins.. But I agree with the whole furry thing... (I ain't a hater ether so don't worry...)

And PvP, needs to be agreed upon by both parties because of the amount of bans that are made because someone PvP'ed them after they wanted RP, blah, blah, blah. But the PvP rule would be void if say you were doing something horribly against the law, etc. And honestly this is an RP server so criminal acts shouldn't be hindered at all. In my opinion it's a ton funner to RP battle, or get robbed with RP instead of "I want your money! ((pvp in 5...4...3...2...1))
