I think when we do flee from Asulon it should be a forum broadcasted event, ((So we get as many people as possible)) then when we arrive at this new land have nothing there... at all, nothing just the natural land, and form 7 groups ((The Monks, the Elves, the Orcs, the Dwarves, the Mori, the Kha, and the Humans)) to go out and explore the new world... the 7 groups would find a place to settle and all work together to make their homes, and no map of the world would be provided to show what the land looks like, so no one can meta... and throughout the map have a few rp hazards ((like a dragon that inhabits a mountain the Dwarves want to build their capital, etc. or a creature that runs around and eats sleeping campers...)) And the whole highway thing, after everyone builds their capital how about we hire a group of 10-20 or so people lead by the path maker? ((Shiftnative)) and rp'ly begin to build the highway?

Diamond in the rough idea hear, just woke up so it may be a little rambley ...

somewhat like the idea of there being absolutely nothing, though I highly doubt any of the ex-nations will want to consolidate or cooperate, particularly cross-racially

since when are the monks their own thing anyways? one thing I'd like on the new map is religion to be something significant in both player and national affairs (think 14th century europe under the pope) though would also like more variety to religion, which is somewhat exclusive from the former concept

doubt anybody wouldn't notice Asulon burning away or whatever

hmm the complete lack of a map would be interesting, displeasing because I couldn't really get a sense of the land, but would decrease meta, which would be pleasant

When I say the monks are on their own is because they would need to make a new temple, and they would oversee the building of it whilst the rest of the races go off and create their cities, and in no way was I referring to them as a race. ((And I understand they're a religious group))

Edit:

We could have maps, but instead use the in game ones.. Having a navigator for each group would be fun because they would Map out the land and help navigate using stars and such. And maybe after a month or two we could have standard issue maps given to new players with the routes to the different cities.

I think we should cut down on a few of the new Asulon races in the new world. They take away from the role-play by spreading 10 to 20 players to remote places.

hmm it certainly was, though it starts the issue of why would everybody settle primarily along a single river?

Simple, really. Before we had cars and all this modern infrastructure IRL, any sort of city or settlement was founded in close proximity to fresh water. Rivers, especially the massive kind such as this one would be, are abundant sources of not only fresh water, but also fish and minerals, as well as providing a fast and simple form of transporting people and goods. (boat)

An idea hit me, a name for the new place and how Asulon will end... How Asulon will end; It'll start out as quite tremors and small earth quakes, due to the large amount of demons plaguing the land. Then a large crater will open up and swallow the majority of cloud temple, and the surrounding area. Then out of the crater will bubble up a bunch of lava, followed by the natural collapse of Asulon.

The name, Neoselpis, is a combination of two words, meaning "New hope" in Greek.

Not a major in Greek grammar and punctuation, so it may be wrong...

I like the meaning of Neoselpis, but its a bit awkward to say. We need something that flows, even if it has no meaning in a RL language.

majority of civilization centers did start around rivers, in fact you'd be hard pressed to find a current capital in any nation that wasn't on or near a river

however, why would every single civilization on the new map logically start on one river? fleeing Asulon they'd be unlikely to sail together knowing inter-race politics, so they'd likely land and settle in a number of disconnected locations

not a bad idea for the end of Asulon, perhaps some horrendous act committed to anger the gods and natural disasters demolish everything over some period (likely irl month or two in my mind)

not sure about name of the new land... will likely post something later

and no, let's not go and remove races and piss off players, let's try to make those races more meaningful to the community as a whole

Two other names I thought of... ((I have several others too!))

Sedela

Pronounced: C- del- A

Negovia

Pronounced: Niegh- go- via

Edit: Both would still mean "New Hope"

Not good at putting pronouciations into words, so they may be a little off from what I imagined they'd sound like..

Ah I thought that would be the case... Then here are some more ideas...

((All meanings are just what I thought would fit well with the name, but they can easily be swapped out!))

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Asurin: (A- sir- en) No real origin, just one I made up, means "Never forgotten"

Aldaron: (AL-da- ron) A name that I can't shake the feeling that I've heard from somewhere, means "Land of secrets"

Aklran: (Ach-La-ran) Just a random name I made, means "Home of many mysteries"

Asugia: (AS- oo - ge- YA) A combination of both Asulon & Aegis, means "The final abode"

Aminia: (AIM- i - NIA) Yet another random name, meaning "Resting place"

Asduren: (As- Dur - rin) ???, meaning "Great journey"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Again not that good at writing pronouciations.. Also I'll add more as I think of them, so watch out!

I quite like all of those, although Aminia seems a bit, I don't know, off, shrill, something? Just doesn't seem quite right. Aldaron shares a Simla format to many fantasy worlds/lands so you're most likely just remembering the format from elsewhere.
