Once magic comes out then the guild should be open. They are currently working on magic, although it will not come out for awile. be patient and it will be out soon.

Just curious would I be able to do such things as healing spells or do I have to completely sacrifice my dexterity and fully pursue the study of magic?

You can still have your skills. But you can not just learn single spells. You will have to learn all of them inorder to perform magic. Applications are not focused around single spells

If I do get accepted to study magic I'll probably only use supportive spells in the long run. I am not a fan of the flashy elemental spells. It reminds me too much of the undead. Though I will learn them if I'm required to learn all magics

The mages guild is not good or evil. We belive the only way to keep peace is through balance. For example if we feel the Ascended have grown to strong we might try to balance them out a bit. There can be no light with out darkness.

(( Sagwort is correct. Anyone can join, Evil, Poor, Insane. There is no limitations to join the guild except keeping the balance. Doing evil things on many occasions is not balanced. Also with magic it is believed that when made your combat skills will be drained and you cant wear armor. Maybe with different areas of magic this will be changed. Ex: a paladin will still be able to be a strong blade user but can only cast healing spells. All in all the mages guild will not be focused on this world but in the next. ))

Pho, joining the Mages Guild is an option you get once you're accepted for magic. It is not at all required. That's why of course I'm going to be a corrupt Mage.
