Hey everyone,

Well as many of you know, yesterday the GMs and Admins had a Q&A session for a few hours with the players. We did this to address various issues and discuss possible solutions. Here is the google doc that we used during the session:

Taking Player Feedback Into Consideration

After everything was said and done, we decided to test the suggestion by you guys to have regions ONLY in towns/cities/notable areas, while everything else was unregioned. We are starting small scale to see how it works out, so we opened up a desert region directly below the Cloud Temple! It will be open for one week, and afterwards we will judge its condition. Here is it's location:

We, the staff, built some nice ruins for you guys to explore as well. Although nothing is actually in there (treasures, hidden rooms, etc.), it is nice to look at for sure! Also, keep in mind that there are some builds by players before the region was opened up that you will not be able to interact with, as we don't want any harm coming to those structures.

However, as excited as you might be right now, we want to note some important things before you get started.

- Just because it is free build, doesn't mean it is alright to grief.

- All buildings/interactions MUST be kept in character!

- If, after one week, we decide that the desert is in terrible condition due to excessive grief, landscarring, un-RP structures, etc., I guarantee you that we will never do something like this again. If you can't protect one area without perms, then just imagine what would happen if we opened up large areas of the map. It is in YOUR hands to make sure this desert maintains its beauty!

- If, after one week, we decide that the desert is in great condition, then we might reward everyone with more open regions. We might not do it immediately after, but it is possible that each nation will have access to their own freebuild zone and/or open mining zone. Keep in mind that this is NOT guaranteed, but it is definitely a possibility!

With all that being said, have fun! You asked for this, and we answered you. Try to make a point of stopping by sometime, we did this for you guys. :)

Just posting my idea about this. If taking away regions everywhere aprt from towns, etc does not work. Why not make a free boat to a far away location in the corner of the map, and have a freebuild section there? With Roleplay reasons for a certain town/build area there.

Such as acheological finds, a gold rush..etc...

I didn't attend the Q&A but I personally think this is an awful idea... We all remember what the Elven Slums turned into, don't we?

If it is an awful idea, only time will tell. Part of this is to prove it IS an awful idea if it doesn't work out. Hopefully that will not be the case, but it's up to you guys now.

Right, I look forward to seeing how it goes. If anything, we can use it to lure the griefers ;)

I wonder if anyone realizes that landscarring also applies to what one does below the surface?

That's exactly what we're doing. You just have the find the RP reason yourself - if we stuck everything the players wanted in front of their faces you wouldn't be able to see!

It is a awful idea. However, I and other GM's will be closely monitoring it. The playerbase asked for it, so we're giving it a trial run.

Psssst, Alan, there are treasures and things to find. Left behind from a forgotten time that the shifting sands of the desert have exposed.

Ok den Freya, then here is one or two ideas I have.

One, -The basic gold rush.

~Recently, word has spread that far north, in the unknown lands poorly explored by the races of Aegis a small group of intrepid humans have discovered a great deposit or gold in the land under a small desert, where the wind never stops blowing, and all living things are beaten down by the powerful blasts of wind and sand. The word spread like wildifire throughout the nations, and many people avid for riches and gold have gone to this unkown place, with dreams of grandeur in their heads.

But the trip has many dangers, for the lands are unsafe, in unsecured lands of the sort, and many a time, they do not come back with pockets weighted with gold, but as deadweight to their comrades. Not many but the strongest of heart, and sturdiest of soul dare travel to this place, even the call of gold is not enough for some.

But there will always be the ones, who will dare, the ones who's greed will push to anything. Or the ones who simply wish to find enough, for their families. Whatever the reasons, the word has spread, and with it, the desire for adventure...

((Basicly, just have an unregioned place, where people will hopefully just make a kinda of slummish place.))

((second will come later, when I am done writing, and after having received some feedback on this. :) ))
