[Poll] Death And You.

Is it just me or is the description of option four contradictory to what that option is?

It says you only keep certain items ie books, but from her descriptions it sounds like you hardly drop anything. I'm not trying to hate, just the wording there is confusing me, is it only keep some things, or only drop somethings, because that's a big difference.

A downside for option 2 is very obvious. People when about to face death, will powergame and put there most prized possesions in there inv into there hotbar, ex. Someone outnumbered in pvp takes off his diamond and puts it in hotbar. Just one example i can think of a few more.

I agree with Csalz, but I think it should just stay the same, how it is. If you die, everything drops and can be relooted.

Players murdering other players for loot... there's plenty of servers around that cater for that kind of thing, and I think one of the reasons LoTC is popular is because we don't normally engage in it. Sorry, but Minecraft servers are full of 13 year olds struggling with new found testosterone and trying to prove their manhood by being PVP kings, and well.. that's not what the LoTC community is about. I've nothing against PVP in general, but LoTC has always provided me with a more mature, RP friendly experience.

In fact, successful villain apps should be limited to a certain (low) percentage of the total active population, and limited in duration to give every successful applicant a fair crack of the whip, same as magic users, but that's a different debate.

Whatever becomes of my character's loot when I die doesn't matter personally but half the time it happens when I'm jumped by a spider when farming at home and it's virtually unavoidable not to pick it up again when my character gets back.

So maybe we should lose all our stuff instantly, but no minas. If people lose too much on death, I think RP will suffer. Why would a merchant, for example, take any risks, travel and explore when inexplicably carrying 20% of his entire wealth around with him no matter how much that is? But losing every item he carried all but for the shirt off his back makes more sense. After all, he's extremely lucky to be alive at all. When 'you' are rescued by the monks, it's not 'you' at all but your character. You got your character killed. The monks give you the opportunity to role play him further, that's all.

The hotbar idea doesn't work for me. Adds unnecessary and un-RP considerations to the game.

So, scrap the minas thing, and have characters' items disappear completely on death is what I say. My character (Mog) won't thank me for it, but that's his problem!

I think we should either keep the drops original minecraft or change it to where you keep all your things if you die to a mob. If you die from pvp it drops your stuff.

As for the 30 minute rule, I die to mobs all the time. Is it or is it not, ok to go back for your stuff if a MOB kills you?

In relations to Simon's first comment I think we should go with a old Runescape drop style. You lose everything except 3 items that are usually the most expensive except we should make it to where we can chose what items we want to keep.

I can see both sides, it is good to keep written books, but also very valuable for thieves to be able to pick them up. Say they catch a powerful mage, or find his body. The books he carried with him could prove very valuable to sell back to him or another mage. It doesn't make any RP sense to keep any items. On the other side, it doesn't make much sense for a random pigmen to attack me just outside of a city as well, and usually even with the speed from wearing no armor the few surprise attack swings is enough to kill me.

There should be some animation or sound for an enemy approaching you. Like a wold howl, or zombie pig rally cry. Something to let you know, seek shelter or face the consequences. To long now we have outlawed no RP killing by players while not worrying about the monsters of our lands.

One solution to this, don't allow people to keep anything from a pvp fight only pve. Another option would be for the person to simply drop it before they die. (Ex. Villian emotes *kills blahblahblah then the mage drops the book before taking /damage20)

Keeping things in hotbars can be problematic, especially if a character is seeking an exact object. If a player A steals another player B's diary, A can just stuff it in his inventory hotbar and accept death, to get away from Player B. This can be done for diamonds and gold, and makes it frustrating as certain items are totally unobtainable.

I should just post this to clarify, the 30 minute rule has NEVER applied to non pvp/rp deaths, ever. Just so folks don't mess up what the gms are saying

Very true and many people forget it. By the rules the 30min only applies to "War" and all wars must be declared 5 days in advance, so if that spider sneaks up and kills you...feel free to return and collect your stuff, no loss of memory or items. Random rampaging bandit no-rp OR RP kills you, also not war you could return for your items and you have memory of what happened.

No, if you die then you don't remember 30 minutes before that and you can't go back for 30 minutes. That applies to everything I think, and if not then only if you die by mobs then you can go back and ignore the 30 minute rules.
