The Flood Of The Biography

I've noticed that some people like using their biography. Quite a lot. So much in fact, that when I go to look at their character card, their Biography fills up my entire chat and more.

I don't really like this. I just wanted to look at their character card, not see their life story. I tend to not read massive walls of text on character cards, since the minecraft chat system isn't really the best thing for reading anyway.

So, how do you make your Bio more user friendly?

Step 1: Find a online-hosted document service, such as Google Docs (You'll need to sign up, but you can use Youtube accounts etc. to log in to it.)

Now, open a new document.

Write your Biography in here - it's much more user friendly than Minecraft, I assure you. It's also easier to format and easier to read.

Now, click on 'Share'

Click change here...

Click 'Public' and make sure it's set to 'View only' - or allow comments if you want people to help improve your Bio!

Now, click save...

Now, this is the important part. Google Doc links are far too long for you to put into your bio - nobody will bother typing them out! So, we need to shorten it. Copy the link, here-

Now, find a 'URL shortener', such as goo.gl. Plonk in your URL, prove you're not a robot...

And voila, you have a short link, easy for people to click upon or type into their browser!

Put this URL into your Bio, and you have TWO good things - people won't get spammed, and you can have a Bio as long as you want! Pretty nice, huh?

However, remember, some people are very lazy and will likely not bother to look at your Bio. But then again, will they read it if it's on your character card either?

I disapprove. You did not capitalize 'Elf' in the biography.

The only reply I can give is...

ASDFGHJKL!1!11!1

I was rushing it XD

I would also like to note that, Bob is a highly unoriginal name for an Elf....

I would even say it's... un-GURIGAL-nal

. . .

Something I feel I should make a note of here. I see the biography as a role-playing tool, not a place for your character's story. Reading your character's story, while interesting, is an invitation to metagame. My character does not know any of that! Perhaps that would be better suited to a post on the forums somewhere, or an in-game book?

Rather, I see the biography as a place to describe physical attributes, or other things that can be discerned by the eye on your character that are hard to represent on the skin. For example, you could include their height, weight, body shape, muscle mass, any important or key features they have, the way they carry themselves, etc. The list is very long, and I much prefer to see it used this way. For example, here are the "biographies" of some of my characters:

Lily is a 6 ft 11 wood elf with waist-length, fiery orange hair hanging freely. She is a fit and athletic elven woman, while lacking in distinct body mass and muscle strength, being gifted with a lithe and nimble form.

A young and slender elven woman, Talari wears her shoulder-length blonde hair loose, with the exception of two longer strands which fall over her shoulders and down her chest. She stands a tall 7 ft 2 and usually wears a faint smile, matched by her soft blue eyes. She usually wears a hooded cloak, with the hood sometimes drawn to obscure her face.

Cyrial is an older elven woman, clad in the robes of the Sanctuary Monks. Her eyes are a soft, dim purple, and she carries herself in a calm and collected manner. She stands 7 ft exactly.

I agree with you, but this way people can link their tome's worth of bio as well as having a little description for their character.

Everyone is happy!

THe only problem I have with this is people will sometimes be trolls and add jump scares to this. And this is also an open invitation to meta-game.

More people should listen to this. So much better than walls of text... Good Guide!
