shiftnative 3103 Share Posted August 14, 2012 Ahoy LoTC ! Recently, a Public Relations Representative from "GamerNorth" in association with "SuperEarth" spoke to me on team-speak about a Minecraft Olympic event between the top tier servers on Minecraft ~ As you can see, we've been invited and I've been told that we may bring up to twenty competitors. Now I come to you, the players and potential Olympians - How do you prefer we choose our champions? 1) Have anyone interested, put their names down in a thread. Then I write them down and pull them out of a hat via live-stream. 2) Have players nominate candidates, then vote on those whom they wish. 3) 10 Are chosen by vote & 10 are chosen out of the hat. Other Notes: -LoTC will recieve it's own plot of land on the server for us to decorate and embody what the LoTC experience is ! -Olympiad competitors will also receive VIP benefits for attending this monumental occasion ~
George of House Glover 372 Share Posted August 14, 2012 2) Have players nominate candidates, then vote on those whom they wish. also, those who go have to stay in character at all times
Watyll 1104 Share Posted August 14, 2012 Option
Aelu / Rel (Combustionary) 1540 Share Posted August 14, 2012 Looks cool... I'd say have people volunteer and GMs decide who should go.
LeRenardNoir 413 Share Posted August 14, 2012 I think it would be best if players could nominate candidates and then vote!
MrSyth 637 Share Posted August 14, 2012 I'd say we have players nominate. That way, most of the players will be satisfied with who gets to play it.
mmat 7460 Share Posted August 14, 2012 Have the community vote on who they think would be the best candidates.
Praetor 1550 Share Posted August 14, 2012 Yes, I do think that the second option would be the best. They gotta point, option 1 would actually be better.
Space 2335 Share Posted August 14, 2012 I say we figure out where the server that is hosting it will be located and get the people with the best connection to do it. (Option 3)
Hobolympic 1093 Share Posted August 14, 2012 No, not two. That's kinda unfair if said player is not very well known, which is unfair. I say the hat!
argonian 14254 Share Posted August 14, 2012 Number 1. EDIT: Changed my mind. BTW, what events will happen in the Minecraft Olympics? I can't imagine how one player could beat another player at any event, since in vanilla Minecraft, everyone has the exact same stats for everything. Obstacle courses - Spleef - Mazes - Puzzles - Building Contests you name it ! ~ (They haven't left details on the games that they will be holding - mostly to keep people on their toes I'd suspect - no training!) Space 2335 Share Posted August 14, 2012 Then, if it's something like a building contest, we can have a small 'competition' where you need to build something in singleplayer then share the screenshots. Whichever one is best, voted by the players or the GM's, gets it. It might take too long though. Just read no training. Derp.

Sounds like it'll be great. I hope we win.
Beneh 227 Share Posted August 14, 2012 Option 1. Option 2 will clearly be a popularity contest and a " whoever has the most friends wins ". Option 1 is by far the fairest. I really do hope it does not come down to Option 2 , for it would not be at all fair for players old and new. It would completely rely on the number of people in your buddylist , really.
