Day/Night Cycle is now 60 MINUTES!

.... Then again.... That's a full hour of night..... >:)

....No, it's not...

I believe it's an hour for both day and night. :)

NO, IT'S NOT. That's what I WANTED, what I asked for. *facedesk**facedesk* I even posted this in the poll thread... let me dig it up.

1: Remember on the poll, it's for an entire day/night cycle. Currently, 60 min is in the lead, which is (...only...) +10 more min to each day/night as stands currently.

2: Vote 120 min for great justice! Having an hour for every day and every night would give shadowy types plenty of time to be shadowy, and would give the daywalkers plenty of sunlight to enjoy too.

Please don't tell me that the people agreeing with me, failed to read that tidbit, and voted for "A 60 minute day/night cycle" when they actually wanted to vote for "a 60 minute day cycle, a 60 minute night cycle"

Any chance we could have this poll again? If the majority who voted for a 60 minute cycle, thought they were voting for 60 minutes for day AND 60 minutes for night, then I think this needs to be addressed!!

NEW POLL: I put it up since nobody else was. Please participate in this poll if you voted '60m' in yesterday's time poll...

That would make one year occur every 24 days. That would be painful, and would basically playing a character from childbirth near impossible if you ever want to see them grow up. The increase, in my mind, already restricts roleplay a little bit, but what can I say, the majority of users wanted it :P

We must reach for the stars my brother! each minecraft Night ='s one IRL night and same goes for day. I'd still play, I'd murder my way through the darkness into the glory of the mina filled day!

I can see your point... I was viewing this at the OTHER end of the spectrum. If years were IRL months, then I could have a character for 2-3 REAL years before he'd grow infirm and be too old for much action, but if you were RPing an infant, having to wait an ACTUAL 6 months-year to 'play' them might annoy some folks, sure.

Could someone possible edit this LotC time cycle guide to be equal with the new time? It is too complicating to figure out. Hoping for a time guide so I can allow my character to age correctly.

To clarify, an Elven day = 1 Real life Day. No matter of changing time can change that. It's now 36 Elven hours to 1 month or seed.

Now, just some math. My human character is pregnant. The father is an Elf (And before people start screaming about they can't have children very easily, he hasn't had a child in over 50 years.) We figure for an Elven pregnancy it's 7.5 years or 90 months. We decided to go for 12 months, as the mom is human and any longer could probably kill her.

Now, under the old time rules, 8 days = 8 months, or close to it. The full pregnancy would have taken 12 days, with a due date around the 12th or 13th of September.

With the new date rules, 12 months = 432 days. That equals out to 18 real life days that she's pregnant. Have you ever wanted to RP something for 18 days straight? I understand there are different things to RP, like the morning sickness, the first kick, ect. But there is only so much you can do before the other people you're RPing with start going 'dang she ain't had that kid yet.'

Another thing, I feel sorry for the guy who is going to play our kid. Instead of aging every 8 days, he has to every 12 days. That means he's going to be a baby for 24 days, a toddler for 36 days. By the time he's 5 years old and my character starts teaching him, it will be almost Thanksgiving!

I'm not asking for the time change to be reversed, but for people to think about what the change means for roleplay and for people who are playing younger characters that need to age to be somewhat interesting.

Well, if we shorten a human month to 1 IRL or elven day, a year would occur every 12 days, which is a good thing for players with short lifespans and makes it safer to travel places during the day.

Thanks Vaq! More realistic roleplay and able to cram more daytime roleplay rather than the games default 10 minutes daytime!

Stay awesome and chill as a cucumber Vaq!

Melody, you made the 12 month decision for the length of the pregnancy yourself (well, with your RP partner). If that equates to 18 days and you can't RP being pregnant for 6 more days, it's still in your RP power to change it. Change the gestation period, or have the child early - do what you feel to keep the RP conductive.

I know I'm new here, but there's a pretty universal philosophy to roleplay rules and standards. They are put in place to create a unified roleplay experience, not restrict creativity. Time in an RPG is relative. A conversation that takes an hour in-game might happen IRL over 3 hours (time to type, afks, etc.) during which time the game world has progressed a full day. You choose which 'clock' you follow based on what is best for the scene.

It is a guideline to keep everyone on the same page, not to grind your roleplay plans to a halt. But even you said it, there's plenty of other things to roleplay about WHILE pregnant than just BEING pregnant. Life doesn't stop just because there's a bun in the oven, get a supplemental plot going on the side.

Again, I'm still learning the culture of this game, but clearly the subject of changing the game clock wasn't taken lightly, and I'm sure the purpose wasn't to hinder long-term plots.

I favor the 1 hour clock, because it's easy to guess what time of day it is in-game even if you're not logged in.
