The Great Collapse

You look upon a new book, fresh off the printing presses. Upon opening it, you hear the crackling of the paper and the smell of ink almost coated in the book. The first page reveals a symbol of two axes crossing, symbolizing a work of the Grandaxe clan, usually just a way to promote the kin's clan. You continue reading...

In my findings through various old texts of dwarven and non- dwarven nature, I have successfully abridged the forgotten time before King Simmpa to the time of his reign. To the best of my knowlage, there are no living dwarves that have survived through the days before King Simmpa. To this account, my findings will be based of the old texts.

As you all well know, the reign of King Simmpa came into being in the most unknown circumstances. That which you do not know is the event that took place before King Simmpa came into power, an even of most devious and dishonorable context. Let it be known, that this horrific event, forgotten, will be called, "The Great Collapse."

The times before the Great Collapse where of a king named Thorgarn's reign. For what I have read so far, his reign was nothing out of the ordinary. It was an uneventful reign, which the only interesting part that I could find was some mess about subterranean potatoes that where found. It was only until I found this journal that gave me the most shock. This old, broken journal has but a few legible pages (As most old literature had) but it had the most revealing facts amongst those pages. I will share the legible pieces of that journal with you and let you cast judgement upon them before I depict my own.

"Something ov this day was off. I cannae feel the the hard hitting anvils amongst the stone. As I hit the stone with my pick, she shook in fear, a sort of fear not dawned by natural causes...

...mines shake. Our crew ascends the tunnels as we do when the stone shakes with anger. The crew leader takes our headcount before we enter the main hall. The ascent was strange, the stone shook even stronger which did not make sense. We where farther away from it's hammer crashing on an anvil heart. How could such a quake intensify, such a precise hit that it felt as if the forge god Yemkar was hard at work?...

...adness, everywhere! The iron-born protectors of the king where slaughtering the crafting and elder dwarves alike. They burn our works, dwarven books cast into the fiery magma of the freshly chiseled moat of the king's subterranean castle. Me closest kin 'n I have taken refuge with the clans, Goldhand and Frostbeard, 'n the forests outside Kal'Urgu...

...must be on the move, no more time. Let it be known on this day that Thorgarn is no king of dwarves. Urguan be with us al..."

Albeit, it was broken with missing sections, it gives us insight. To my own discontent, I was unable to deuce the clan of which Thorgarn belonged to. For this, his dishonorable kin have been sharing their burden with the rest of us, whether they realize it or not. Regardless, much history was lost in the Great Collapse as well as the throne. Until, of course, King Simmpa rallied the dwarves back to Kal'Urguan, once again making it a haven for all dwarven kind.

As I read the last of this dusty, broken diary, I fear as our past may be forever lost. Let us never forget the deeds of Thorgarn. For when the day comes that the clan of the dishonorable be brought to the light of Yemkar's glowing anvil, may they answer for every life lost at the hands of this slaughterer of kin!

May we be ever knowing, through the knowledge of Ogradhad, Bazian Grandaxe.

Since there are no real for runners on dwarven lore, I am just going to assume this is accepted, unless someone has any objections to this.

We need some Edgehand lore posts. I can only imagine the things Charles will concoct for us.

I suggest we dwarfs add together all the pre-history lore we have (aka prior to the server start up) and mash it together and iron it out.

By all means, if you have interesting stories or lore to add, please do! Just as long as it is not far fetched. :P Dwarven lore should be filled with stories and books as such, to pass down to the younger generations. If you decide to do so, remember to add it to this collection on the wiki. http://www.lordofthecraft.net/wiki/wikka.php?wakka=Dwarves#hn_Dwarven_Literature

Well seeing as no one has challenged the Tunnelsmasher lore well over a month on, I'd assume it would be considered approved?

It is my opinion that lore writing has many freedoms to it as the lore has many open ends that need to be filled. As long as it can reasonably fit in with the rest of the lore, I'm sure no one would have a problem with it.

Also, I read over your clan lore and I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be implemented.
