George of House Glover 372 Share Posted October 27, 2012 Why would an orc and a halfling be unable to breed? The sexual act would surely be "complicated" but the pregnancy i see no reason why it should be. Should not humans and dwarfs be taken off the list then if it is not possible? Just curious. last halfing my char mated with, died from internal bleeding. It could conceivably happen with a male halfing and a feuruk.

Tayelikel 193 Share Posted October 28, 2012 Is there a way to clear up Orc+Elf child genetics? I understand that not all orc/Elf children are gobins but I would like to know which traits are dominate, It seems somewhat unfair that all orc traits become donate; However, some traits. Such as the tusks; Would defiantly be dominate. When it comes to skin; However, would chance play a factor? Like how some black/white children turn out darker, others turn out lighter (just as an example)

The skinwould most likely mix to a certain degree, very much like byracial children. Tusks may be smaller in half orcs as well as weight. They also may be weaker but a bit more agile. How they are handled in orcish society is another story.
Nefarious Aus Shitpost 891 Share Posted October 28, 2012 Several generations of elfish and orcish blood mixing would result in a creature with goblinoid traits but it would not be a true goblin, it would be a half-orc. True goblins are pure orcs. ( Correct me if I'm wrong. )
Lago 2572 Share Posted October 28, 2012 shush cracker i wrote this in 2 minutes I would prefer if orcs couldnt breed with other races period Then you're going to need some she-orcs. The way I've always seen it is that orc traits almost all dominant, so any offspring with other races results in what looks like a pure orc. However, some recessive human/elf/dwarf genes are still in the genome, contaminating the bloodline. If this second generation orc breeds with a human/elf/dwarf, the ris of non-orc traits goes up massively, and then if that orc breeds with a non-orc... Well, let's just say that's where the pink things with tusks come from. Consequently, orcs look down on breeding with other races needlessly. As for goblins, perhaps a genetic defect that occasionally crops up, and the difference in scale makes them unable to breed with orcs? Thus goblins can only make goblins with goblins. Cracker 4570 Share Posted October 28, 2012 Goblins are able to mate with Orcs; both are technically the same "race" of Uruk and thus halfbreeds can be born like Brevias. Lago, your viewpoint is essentially true with the lore we work with now. However, even the original half-orc will have -some- distinguishing characteristic of being a half-breed. Some may be very subtle, like Goldrim who essentially looks exactly like a regular Orc, but other Orcs may have distinguishing characteristics, like elven ears, a more pretty human face, or reduced stature. Goldrim 1422 Share Posted October 30, 2012 I think that we can all agree that my character Gromgok was a visual abomination, which is a good thing I might add. He wasn't the tallest of Orcs either, but I guess others things made up for his size in height, if you know what I mean, wink wink.
Ned Lud 1260 Share Posted October 31, 2012 A male halfling can theoretically mate with a feorc or female goblin and she will produce offspring. There's just no current known record of any ugly little shits like that running around. Yet. *wink*

Rhisereld 317 Share Posted October 31, 2012 Chronicle 5: The Forgotten Elvish Cousin For nigh on thirty years, during the reign of High Prince Ralian, Orc diplomat Kragbar’Krump lived in Upper Laurelin and took to him an Elven wife. The practice of elves lying with Orcs had never before been known and hopefully never would be again. So the child was named Govlen, meaning ‘unlikely’ and was raised in Laurelin. The boy was rich in vigor and lackluster in hair. His clumsy scaley body would break windows, knock over market stalls and mistakenly set fire to treetop houses. When it came time for his passage to become a man the Elven Council ruled that Govlen be removed from Malinor upon his return, lest the ancient forest be brought to its knees. Govlen lived longer than any Orc and took to him many wives of Kal’Urguan. His sprightly fertility bore 18 children, the first of which was Kemal who never took to him a child. His remaining sons bore many children and by the third generation the descendants of Govlen were numbered at six hundred two score and three. They dispersed themselves across Kal’Urguan becoming stall vendors and politicians, never fearful of leeching extra Minas from dim-witted Orcs. Orc brutality for language referred to the Govlen family as Goblins, a name which has stuck with them. As the bloodline continued, Govlen’s blessing of long life and fertility faded and the Golbins became synonymous to their Orcish cousins. This was posted about a year back in World History. A elf-orc combination is an abomination, but with a lot of inbreeding (and probably dwarvern blood) we got goblins.

Ned Lud 1260 Share Posted October 31, 2012 My take on goblins has always been that they descended from a Son of Krug. When orcs and elves reproduce, they bear a cub that is not technically a true goblin, but may be considered a goblin all the same, depending on it's dominant physical characteristics. If it's born small it's a goblin, if it's born large, it's a standard orc. Technically, all four of the descendant races are from the same stock and can intermingle and breed with one another. It really just comes down to whether or not the mother and fetus will survive child-birth. Genetically, there's nothing stopping them. It's been scientifically proven that two mothers giving birth to 21 cubs on a ship at sea in the middle of a storm while migrating away from an Apocalypse with an Undead midwife greatly increases the mothers' chance of survival. :P
