Everyone who says: "They will hack again." You are wrong, you will think twice before hacking once you are banned. It's much more of a psychological effect between thinking, and actually being banned.

It's not so much this as the fact that people would be more willing to hack the first time if they knew there was the possibility of being unbanned, as opposed to the prospect of being permabanned with no chance of appeal. People weigh the risk of a situation, so if a player really wants to hack, they would be much more inclined to do so if the consequences of their actions weren't as severe. To give an extreme exaggeration of this point, would you be more willing to risk hacking if you knew you'd only be banned for a single day if caught as opposed to a permaban? It's a system of risk vs. reward, and very rarely in instances such as hacking is the risk greater than the reward, unless the risk involves being permabanned with no chance of appeal.

To reiterate my point, the permaban isn't because we believe that hackers would be willing to repeat their actions, although in some cases it may be true, but rather to deter players from doing it even the first time around.

It's a "No-Rp kill", when a player kills another player without any roleplay prior.

Why anyone would give someone the pleasure of naming it after them, is beyond me. :/

It's a mass NoRP kill where a player goes on a PvP spree, slaughtering players both deliberately and indiscriminately with no RP whatsoever.

Inventory clear them once caught, and with 3.0 coming out, it's a prime way of keeping hackers out and elevating economy, because no one will have enough money to actually buy diamonds to deflate the stocks.

As-well, can we get time-frames of unbanning from hacking?

Cool, being a pedo isn't banned yet!

Nope, but having a character that's a pedo will get you perma'd still.

What counts as pedophilia on this server in an rp sense? Nobles would marry off their daughters pretty young, you know.

The definition of pedophilia is attraction to pre-pubescent children. So, anything to do with that is off-limits.

Bans for pugsy'ing, cybering, paedophilia, necrophilia and bestiality remain permanent bans with no chance of an appeal.

Small bit of information for you guys here, as we're now keeping you up to date on even the smallest changes.

After much discussion within the staff over the past while, it was decided that all bans will now have a minimum guideline time. We will not make these publicly available, but they are known by all staff members. In addition to this, bans for types of hacking are now not permanent bans but will result in severe punishment - this is because we feel that a permanent ban as a result of a player using a modified client once is not worthy of being banned forever - however, bans for hacking are the longest of any kind (other than permabans).

Bans for pugsy'ing, cybering, paedophilia, necrophilia and bestiality remain permanent bans with no chance of an appeal.

And in addition to that - all bans now equate to a single strike, regardless of their length. If a user reaches 5 strikes they will receive a six month ban. If they receive a strike after they are unbanned they receive a permanent ban.

Cheers,

The LOTC Staff

People actually do that? o.O
