How does one remove their strikes?

Speak to the mod who gave them to you. That is why you can see them now. Though in the case of unnamed strikes that never were explained neither now nor at the time, we shall just have to wear them indefinitely.

Thanks up-tight Forum mods!

Strikes given by bans can not be removed.

What the hell?  People who could get LoTC sued are way much of a danger than a simple hacker.

That's exactly what I meant, I just said it dumbly.

If the MODERATOR(FM/GM/Admin) who gave you the warn has never gave a reason, you can appeal said warn to anybody. We will investigate it.

Every warn should have a small note explaining why you were warned.

If the mod who gave you the warn has left LOTC, you can only appeal it towards a admin.

"It's not illegal unless you get caught"

In other words, people who hack do so until they get caught. Most times when hackers are caught, it is only after they have committed their crime more than once. I totally agree that people who engage in necrophilia, pedophilia, etc. should be perma-banned. As stated, LotC could get sued for allowing such acts to go unpunished. However, why should we give hacking such lenience? I am just worried that a longer leash will encourage more people contemplating hacking to do so.

So even after a year or something I display good behavior, the strikes stay?

I don't think I can really stomach getting on the server anymore,

Not sure why we'd a favor one hack over the other. If you hack you should be reprimanded no matter what you've done.

Because x-ray is only really effecting the one person, who is mineral hungry, but combat mods are effecting other players.

And then that guy comes back with a stack of diamonds/iron (just using these as an example) and gives them to his buddies so they're ready for their next "supa dupa awesome epic war!11!".

Hacking should be perma-bannable regardless of the offense. It's not like some things in the rules, like strip mining. A lot of servers don't have rules regarding that and, while everyone should be familiar with the rules when they apply, not everyone is. Hacking is a no-brainer and it's obvious that it's not allowed.

Or think about how someone spends 3-4 hours mining out 20 stacks of iron.

If iron ingots are 30 minas everywhere and this guy starts selling them for 15-20 each, the price is gonna crash. Maybe not right away, but if they start doing this on a consistent basis..

Reminds me of how on Aegis, Iron was like 25 / bar. Then suddenly a shop opened with like 10,000 iron and we were doing like 15 each.

@Cyndi - if you get banned 5 times, regardless of the time between them it shows you haven't learnt your lesson. Likewise, if you get banned 4 times then after a few months get banned again - it also shows you haven't learnt anything, meaning you get the six month ban for hitting 5 strikes.

*messes up server and player amusement in a more discreet fashion* Temp ban

*goes out with a bang and gets insta banned* Perm ban

In the end, hackers are the one who mess it all up more since they can keep going on and on until someone notices, while Pugsy'ers only do it once.

I fail to see the logic in that change. If someone hacks they should be permabanned, saying they might have learned their lesson could apply to anyone, and people will have more chance of hacking again because they might get away with it than pugsy'ing (unless they got unbanned to troll again.)

we're now keeping you up to date on even the smallest changes.

We will not make these publicly available

I see the policy on secrecy still hasn't changed. No surprises there.

Thanks for the useful comment Verden, although its most inaccurate. The reason we actually put up this thread because we're not running on a 'secrecy policy'. The reason we're not putting the times up is because we do not want to put up times for bans and people to react with "Hey, I can do this and only get banned for two months rather than the six it used to be" and do it.

Thinking that releasing the information would cause a surge in ban reports is theoretical at best. If you did release the times, with the new system in place, it would add to the strikes on their account which are permanent, then the trouble-makers on the server would be more easily rooted out.

Also, the permanent account strikes are more than sufficient as a deterrent. I don't believe anything would change, and if it did, the server would come out better in the long run with fewer and more trackable rule-breakers.

EDIT: Just going to add that it doesn't take much thinking to realize what is and isn't worthy of a more severe punishment anyway. I could come up with a list on the spot that would probably be mostly accurate to what we're not being told.
