Ban Update: 20/2/13

*messes up server and player amusement in a more discreet fashion* Temp ban

*goes out with a bang and gets insta banned* Perm ban

In the end, hackers are the one who mess it all up more since they can keep going on and on until someone notices, while Pugsy'ers only do it once.

I fail to see the logic in that change. If someone hacks they should be permabanned, saying they might have learned their lesson could apply to anyone, and people will have more chance of hacking again because they might get away with it than pugsy'ing (unless they got unbanned to troll again.)

As Freya stated long ago, cybering is perma ban because if a parent finds out their child is playing on a server where people cyber, and other +18 rated things happen on the server, they will most likely take a serious word with the server owner, and in worst case sue the server, and none of us want's the server to be taken down.

I'm talking about Pugsy'ing and hacking, not cybering.

That's because it can't be so offensive to anyone to the degree they want the server sued and/or taken down.

Edit: you just compared it to cybering.

I have a feeling that what they mean by the variable ban rate on hackers is so that it fits the ones who were say, accidentally using a small hack built for another server compared for someone who is fly hacking. I have a feeling that it scales depending on the situation at hand, and that, there are some incidents sometimes that happen with hacks that leave people perma banned over the smallest things. This doesn't mean to say of course that "severe" bans for hacking won't still be in place though, they said it was one of the longest, next to a perma ban. And a 5 strike ban warrants up to six months. So it must be longer than six months in some cases for "severe hacking offenses". And even then, it isn't a guarantee that once their time is up, they will be let back in on appeal.

6 months up, is a long time, so long that in that time someone could've changed, grown up, switched interests or even just forgotten about the server in that time.

Quick Question, I was banned when I first joined the server for something stupid due to me not -fully- understanding the way the roleplay worked on the server. I have not done anything since and do not plan too, although I see it as slightly unfair that I can be perma-banned if I slip up once again or if I do something minor that would not be a perma-banned. Thus I ask if you were banned ages ago, and have yet to do anything else. Will you get permaed if you do slip up?

I take it that, if bans have lasting consequences, the way bans are handed out is also being changed? Because the 'ban first, find out what happened from the ban appeal' method doesn't really work with this "5 bans and you're out" system.

Strikes are only added from this point on, not for old bans. Keep in mind it's only a 2 chance thing if it's hacking involved - for anything else it's 5 bans.

Thank god.

My stomach doesn't hurt anymore.

I dont like how strikes from bans don't expire. A new player could banned for a minor mistake, such as accidentally leaving a floating tree, strip mining, or digging a ugly hole in the ground, and have it counted against them later.

There needs to be a system where common minor mistakes don't screw over new players later. In other words minor bans need to expire by let's say three months from now or until another ban occurs.

Bans for pugsy'ing, cybering, paedophilia, necrophilia and bestiality remain permanent bans with no chance of an appeal.
