Relgard reads the note, an annoyed sigh escaping him as he finishes.

"Mali'valah... always so troublesome.

Mayilu, I'm not expelled am I? No? Okay."

He rips down the note, chuckling as he hands it to Nienna.

*A note is pinned to the door*

Contrary to what is unfortunately popular belief, there is no mentality that any Regent is attempting to make themselves Polgrath. And bluntly put your assumptions and accusations are insulting.

Polgrath himself, who has been entirely absent for upwards to a year now will return to find himself with the Magestate he always wanted handed to him on a silver platter.

One cannot consult someone who isn't there.

That said, I am in the twilight of my days and with my tasks done I hand the bulk of responsibilities to the people who desire it more than I. Quite frankly I never wanted to pull this much weight.

To Polgrath: You have been, and still are my leader, you once told me you wanted a nation, and I made one for you. I have done by my best and now, Mindlord, I leave the rest to you.

-Former High Mageshield, Current Delver Regent of Force.

A pigeon bearing an application arrives at Ac'talareh and settled into the aviary mail-box, awaiting to be read-over and judged.

Given name(RP name):

Masayvir Ipos.

(Skype name if you have one):

[[ notxephos ]]

True name(MC name):

[[ Swgrclan ]]

Race:

Mali'Ker.

Authentic magic user?(accepted magic user?):

I hold no magical capabilities at my disposal.

If so what form of magic ye use?:

Null.

Do ye seek adventure, knowledge, and companionship?:

Certainly.

All applying will be apply for the applicant position. However should you pass that stage what profession might you take on? Note that if you want to learn magic you must speak to a Delver Arcanist personally:

I wish to assume the role of a "Pathfinder", as I hold little patience for menial tasks, am not fit for front-line combat and, as stated before, do not wield magic. Scouting and keeping quiet are two skills I possess and can utilize with moderate ease.

What combat skills have ye?

I wield no melee weapons past short-swords; my physique is not capable of balancing strength into larger weapons, so I stay close to daggers and the like. Otherwise, I "excel" in wielding an arbalest -- a light-weight crossbows that can hit targets at medium range.

Short Response for all Applicants, write how ye

would respond:

1.) You come across a massive ruin of ancient design,

strange sounds and lights emanate from within.

After scanning the general region around the structure for traps or possible ambushes, I would approach the ruin and examine both it's defining features and the details that would be scattered around the land that surrounds it. This would be all I would do, however, as I am not fit to explore ruins that may hold surprises that I probably not appreciate and dangers I cannot handle. The information gathered from the site would be relayed to my superiors once I returned to Ac'talareh.

2.)While at a local bar you see two dark hooded figures

in the corner discussing in a whispered conversation. You can't quite make out

what they're saying but you clearly hear the word "artifact".

Utilizing the guise of a common bar-dweller I would remain in my seat and make discreet effort to listen into the conversation. Any information garnered about this artifact would be subtly recorded upon a pad of paper and when the pair had dispersed it would make way toward Ac'talareh to report the information.

3.)Walking down the Anthos Highway you come across a

masked man with a sword threatening a hooded figure, claiming he is a

necromancer.

Seeing as it is not my duty to defend conspicuous hooded gentleman nor assisting violent masked people, I would not tarry with the two. If anything, I would study the hooded figure for any specific details, and should I find him in the future unscathed then I would try to pry knowledge from him with the assumption the masked man was correct in his accusations.

Authentic magic user?(accepted magic user?):  Nay, I’m not one of the arcane.

If so what form of magic ye use?: N/A

Do ye seek adventure, knowledge, and companionship?:

I certainly do!

I would wish to become a Delver Hand, and assist the Delver’s by attending to their collection of books and artifacts.

What combat skills have ye?

I’m capable of wielding any type of sword, to a degree. I’d say I’m adept at the art, and I usually use either a dagger or short sword when faced with a combat situation. Overall I prefer to use diplomacy over the blade.

Short Response for all Applicants, write how ye would respond:

1.) You come across a massive ruin of ancient design,strange sounds and lights emanate from within.

The lights that shine and the noises the howl from within the ruins show that the ruins may be occupied, or already scavenged of any useful artifacts and are now resident to beasts.  To be cautious, I would view the ruins for a little bit from a safe distance to see activity that goes on. I would than return, and get several other Delvers to assist me in clearing the ancient site and hopefully retrieving ancient artifacts of intellectual value.

2.)While at a local bar you see two dark hooded figuresin the corner discussing in a whispered conversation. You can't quite make out what they're saying but you clearly hear the word "artifact".

The two figures may be dangerous. Many wear dark robes: necromancers, cultists, and other figures that could pose a threat. I’d walk up to the two, and engage them in friendly conversation. I’d slowly try to ease my way in to the conversation, and hopefully charm them in to telling me about this supposed artifact. If not, I’d wait for them to leave the tavern and follow them from a reasonable distance. I’d hopefully be able to eavesdrop, and if lucky they’ll lead me straight to the ruin.

3.)Walking down the Anthos Highway you come across a masked man with a sword threatening a hooded figure, claiming he is a necromancer.

The argument is none of my business. If the hooded one truly is a necromancer, he can surely fend off a simple masked bandit. I would walk off, not thinking of the odd, albeit unfortunate, situation again.

After re-review, you have both been denied.

If you are seen at Ac'talarah, you will be kicked out on sight.

This note is pinned around Ac'talarah below the applications, outside, etc. It does not state why.

(If you truly wish to know, it is stated in your application.)

*All the delvers present are called to the main room, confused as to what
why. As they enter the room all they see is Dizzy standing by himself
looking rather tired. As they enter hushed questions and chatter are
passed from one an other until finally the dwarf clears his throat
and begins to address them*

((Written
in plain speech for easier read))

“You are probably all wondering why you are gathered here today....... I
will tell you why. It has come to my attention that there are some
clear problems within the delvers, and as of this moment and I aim to
fix that. Now you must here me out, some of this may be difficult to
come to terms with but it must be addressed.

Firstly, there is some.... discontent within the guild, I can see it
on faces, in actions, hear it in voices, even feel it around me. If
you are malcontent with something or someone in the guild please
bring it forth, we try our best but we cant change if you do not tell
us what needs changing.

Next, we have things that DO need change that I can see now without
help. We accept many into the guild, even some who seem not fit as we
are not so much a guild, but a family. What some see as rejects we
take in hoping to find there true potential, and so we are wrong for
doing this? We are a family, we accept many, we wish only to protect
and nurture those who are in need of it.

You may not agree with me on this but what I say is true, our leadership
is not what it should be. We have many regents who are content to let
the few meddle with the politics and affairs that keep our newly
founded Magestate alive. Those very same regents allow the few to
uphold and drive the guild forward, only stepping in when they so
choose. There inactivity and down right laziness is shameful, to
allow the few to put themselves into the state that they are in now.
Look over, see Art, the man who has brought many of you here and
upheld the guild. See how haggard and weary he is, the weight of the
guild on his shoulders! See Nienna, the woman who has been through so
much yet given so little in the end! Look at those two and tell me
that you have done them no wrong. Do not sit back and let the weight
of the guild drive them into the ground, help them carry the it!
Should these regents sit back and continue to do nothing I will have
no choice but to move for there removal and replacement with more
trustworthy members. Here is the part that you may not accept, but
yes, even Polgrath is not acting as he should. He leaves at
mysterious times and lets Art and Nienna govern in his stead. I have
seen more work from the two of them then I could ever imagine
Polgrath doing, yet he acts with more authority then them and often
without consulting anyone. It is true he may be the leader of the
guild, but even a king can be wrong, even a king can have poor
judgement! When I see others leaving all the work on the shoulders of
those two, I am sickened. They put there very life and soul into
upholding this guild, nae, this family, and with what return? I shall
tell you. For others to treat them as if they are trying to usurp the
guild! They work till there hands bleed and there skin cracks, and in
return they motives are questioned? They sustain the livelihoods of
many, for nothing, and they are some how wrong. If you believe they
take authority to much into there own hands then change that! Do not
take it from them, instead support them with that! Do what must be
done! If the ones currently in charge are content to let Art and
Nienna work themselves to death and then discard them when they are
run dry then what kind of leaders be they?

In closing, this is not a guild, but a family. I ask you, look into
yourselves and see what must be done. Do not let the many stand on
the shoulders of the few and wonder why the tower collapses. Nae. Let
all support it, to grow and support this family. Show those who have
been stood upon without complaint for so long that you appreciate it!

If you see me as wrong so be it. But I depart with this......

We are a family that would like nothing more then for you to the person
you where meant to be. Help us as we try to help you.

*Dizzy finishes his speech and leaves the room quietly, leaving nothing behind but the fleeting noise of his clanking armor*

In the corner of the room stands a shadow of a man, watching and listening to Dizzy's speech. Not noticed, not significant.

He remains still, and promptly dissapears into the ruins he knows so well.

Once more does the floor of the former regents room grow cold.

Once more papers, maps and quills lay scattered across the desk.

The various vines and flora begin to shrivel in her absence,

sprawling out onto the hard stone, brittle and brown, snapping

in the dull air. The belongings of the elven woman are rifled through,

some of the once neatly organized chests lay unlocked and trampled through.

Her bed, the soft wooden plank which once held warmth from a body

that once called it home was once again just wood.

The sight of the woman was not to be seen in the ruins of Ac'Talareh for the

next many many years.

Once again she had vanished, once again she ceased to exist.

Some knew her by Hera.

Some knew her as the savior.

Some knew her as a friend.

Regardless she was gone for Ac'Talareh was home to many.

But not her.

She lived by a different name, a truer name.

Alena.

Through the chaos of her room, the scattered materials and decaying plants

lays a note, maybe one that was two hastily wrote as ink dotted

the coarse parchment.

~~~
Dear Friends,
There is a lump in my throat as I write these words, even now my hand trembles with anticipation of
the future. I have grown to regard many of you as family through the years and to many of you
I would offer my life for. I was taken in by Artimec when the wiser choice would have been to
end my life. I was taken in. Fed. Trained. Befriended. I have held many positions within this
family, whether it was helping build or scouting or eventually leading the mageshields.
I remember when I laid eyes on Ac'Talareh. Tears rolled down my face because I knew this was my new
home. A new start to all of the hardships I had faced in my life. I brought the delvers to their new home.
OUR home.
Many of you do not know why I disappeared a couple years ago. I am not afraid to share that I was ill.
I had so abnormality within my mind that blocked me from my memories. With the help of friends
I was able to regain those memories from not just my time with the delvers but my whole life.
I am over two hundred years old. I have seen the darkness of the world and I have seen the blessings
bestowed upon us. I have had another family though. In Aegis. A brother, a sister, a mother and father.
Upon receiving my memories back I also remembered the deaths of my family. They died at the hands of the Undead. All but me and my sister were slaughtered.
In these times family is the only stable thing we have. I cannot live fruitfully until I know the outcome
of my sister's disappearance after we arrived in Asulon.
This is why I regret to inform you that by the time you read this message I will have already backed my belongings,
at least what I can carry, and left Ac'Talarah. I cannot say when I will return, if ever so I hope my room will be appropriately distributed. I am sorry my friends, and those of you that I consider family, but I must
go. My heart, my mind and body all grow frail with the depression caused by my memories. I must
put my worries and my sister to rest.
Goodbye.
~Alena~
Laenry's spirit stirs from the world beyond the world, a sadness overcoming his aged features. He watches from the darkness past the light as the woman he knew as Hera leaves Ac'Talarah and her friends behind. He could only hope that she too, when her time comes, would be buried in the crypts beneath the home of the Arcane Delvers so they could once more converse in that place beyond the place of Humans, Elves, and all such races alike.
   I would slowly draw my bow and enter the ruins slowly, being careful not to set off any ancient traps. After walking down several halls I hear a noise. In the shadows something moves
  A spider jumps out and runs at me, Quickly I draw my bow and aim but the spider is quicker and knocks me to the floor. My bow skids across the floor, as the spider pounces onto me. The creature and I roll wrestle around on the cold, mossy ground.
The spider's fangs move closer to my throat and I realize I havn't much time left. Quickly, I lean to the right and pull out my knife. I stab the blade into the spider and hold it there until it stops moving. Exhausted, I push the beast off me and get up.
   I decide this ruin might not be worth exploring. I look back down the hall and notice a room. I see a chest sitting in the middle of the big room. Its not too far away so I way the few steps left to get inside. I walk up to the chest and open it slowly wondering excitedly what could be inside.
Slowly, it opens and, "its empty."
In the morning they enter the cave, I follow behind at a distance and watch as they battle countless monsters. I follow they down many paths and tunnels, then theres a room thats filled with golden light. in the middle of the room is a pedistol of what looks to be where a treasure once was.
 The men are angry and disappointed. I hide in the corner as the pass back through. After they are gone I look at where the treasure once was. There appears to be a small hidden button on the pedistal. I press it in and then the slb of stone makes a scratching noise as it moves aside revealing a beautiful golden goddess.
  "You better stay out of this wood elf," growls the man with the sword. He shoves the hooded figure again.
  I walk over and grab the man shoulder and oull him backwards. He isn't looking at me so this throws him off balance and he almost falls backwards.
  "why you!" he yells turnning to hit me but stops when he sees an arrow aimed dirrectly at his face. He is so slow at turning around I had enough time to draw my bow. The man glares at me and drops his weapon angerly.
  Then the Hooded Figure hits him over the head with a rock. The man falls to the ground unconcious. I look at the figure just as he takes off his hood. It isn't a he but a she!
  "Thank you, He's been following me for weeks now. Hes convinced I'm a necromancer but I'm an Illusionist." I just blink and stare at the woman.
1.) You come across a massive ruin of ancient design,
strange sounds and lights emanate from within.
I walk down the path and see the huge ruin. As I observe the strange ruins I begin to see hints of lights and begin hearing strange sounds. I nervously pull out my blade and walk towards the ruin. Old towers and walls are all over the ruin but there is a particular larger tower in the middle. I begin to get the feeling I am being watched. I see some old cracked steps leading up to one of the center towers. As I walk up the steps I say under my breath "I'm going to regret this...." as I draw closer and closer towards the tower the lights get brighter and the sounds louder till I finally find myself at a door. Carvings of ancient symbols are in the door and the door puts off a faint light.
There is no visible door handle, I begin to think perhaps this ruin is not a good place to be. I begin walking away when I notice a strange golden object, It is flat and matches a symbol in the middle of the door. I hesitate to pick it up but a strange force pulls me towards it. I pick up the symbol and begin to examine it, I notice the symbol indention in the door matches the golden symbols shape. I walk back up to the door nervously and push the symbol into the indention in the door. The door begins to glow with a faint blue light, it quickly fades and the door begins to rot. The boards begin to break by themselves and turn into dust, I slowly back up and watch in horror as the door turns to dust.
I carefully walk past the dust pile and into the large tower. There is a large staircase leading all the way to the top of the tower. I begin to walk up the cracked steps, as I walk there are orbs of light flying around, I cautiously avoid them. When I finally reach the top the orbs of light are flying around a podium. A large brown book sits upon the podium, the outside cover covered with symbols. I walk up and gently grab the book, as I open the cover of the book a bright light begins pushing out of the pages. As I stare into the light I began to feel weak, I drop the book and fall to the ground. I wake up on the path outside the ruin and look over to where the ruin was. But all that is there now is a forest, I rub my head and begin to think it was only a dream. I push myself up and begin walking again.
2.)While at a local bar you see two dark hooded figures
in the corner discussing in a whispered conversation. You can't quite make out
what they're saying but you clearly hear the word "artifact".
I sit at a seat and drinking some ale, watching two hooded figures, one wears a blue hood and the other a green hood. I ignore them but then I hear the word artifact and become intrigued, the two hooded figure get up to walk out. I wait till they get a decent distance from the pub and begin to follow them. as the two hooded men walk the trees become thicker and thicker till finally the trees open up to a small encampment. I hide behide a tree and listen to the men
Blue hooded man:"We are safe here, no need to whisper"
Green hooded man:"Where did you get the artifact?"
Blue hooded man:"I found it in a old spire"
Green hooded man:"Let me see it"
The blue hooded man walks over to a large bulky chest and unlocks it, he then pulls out a small sphere covered with glyphs and hands it to the green hooded man.
Green hooded man:"I will pay 3000 mina's for it"
Just as the green hooded man saids that I sneeze and the two hooded men look towards the tree I am hiding behide and draw there weapons
Blue hooded man:"Who's there?!"
I put my hand on my sheathe and walk out from behide the tree expecting a fight.
Green hooded man:"We were followed!"
Blue hooded man:"He won't leave here alive!"
The two hooded men then move to attack me, the blue hooded man charges with his sword as the green hooded man trys to get behide me. I draw my sword and get into a blocking position. The blue hooded man charges into me and I stumble back a bit. I swing my sword while he is recovering and slice his chest. The blue hooded man stumbles back and I feel a blade slice my back. I yell a cry of pain for a moment and turn around to see the green hooded man, I begin to swing my blade at him, the first couple swings are blocked with his blade, while he is swinging into my sword I kick him in the stomach. green hooded man falls to the ground and I swing side ways into his shoulder cutting his shoulder open. The green hooded man holds his shoulder as I quickly turn around and see the blue hooded man aiming another swing at me.
I quickly block him with my sword, the blue hooded man is gradually becoming weaker and weaker due to his blood loss. I attempt to land a fatal injury on the blue hooded man and get sliced in the shoulder. I stumble back and try to regain my senses. The two hooded men get back up and come towards me with swords again. I push myself back up, fighting the blood loss from my wounds on my back and shoulder. I swing my sword into the green hooded mans sword carrying arm. As it hits he drops his sword and stumbles back and falls on the ground. The blue hooded man swings his sword into my side, I quickly evade the coming blade and begin fighting the blue hooded man. He swings his sword at me and I block the blow with my sword.
I reach my foot out and step on the man's toes as he goes for another hit. He screams and I plunge my sword into his stomach. The man falls back onto the ground and his sword falls to the side of him. I look back to the green hooded man to find him unconscious from the blood loss. I head down into there encampment and approach the sphere cautiously. I slowly pick up the strange sphere and put it into my satchel. I walk back to the two hooded men to question them but they appear dead, I walk off sighing, thinking about who could figure out what this sphere is.
3.)Walking down the Anthos Highway you come across a
masked man with a sword threatening a hooded figure, claiming he is a
necromancer.
I am walking down the street when I see a man with a mask on threatening another man with a sword, I walk up to the feud and put my hand on my sheathe
Guarger: "Oy, what are you doing?"
The masked man turns to me
Masked man: "This is none of your business"
Sensing the mans hostility I draw my sword, the mask man carefully eyes my drawn sword.
Masked man: "Fine if you really must know this man is a necromancer!"
Guarger: "How can you be sure?"
Masked man: "I saw him raising the dead"
I turn towards the hooded man who's dark red eyes glow behide his hood.
Guarger: "What do you intend to do then?"
Masked man: "I intend to kill him and wipe away his scum!"
I think over the situation unsure of what to do. I turn around to think as the masked man goes to stab the hooded man. I turn quickly to protect the man but it is too late. The hooded man dodges the blade with great speed. The masked man is shocked at the speed of the man. The hooded man grabs the masked mans throat and begins chanting a strange language. I back up in horror at what happens to the masked man. His skin begins to turn to nothing and bones take place of the mans former skin.
The hooded man throws the skeleton on the ground and looks towards me. As I slowly back up I trip and fall onto the ground. The hooded figure walks over to me and saids in a soft voice.
Hooded man: "He was foolish as to have challenged me.... However you are different then him. Not near as foolish, you are right to fear me, but you, you will not die by my hand today. No I want you to take your fear to your friends and family..."
The hooded man lets out an evil laugh disappears into a cloud of smoke, I scramble to get up and walk over to the skeleton.
Guarger: "Poor man..."
I drag the skeleton off to the side of the road and hope the monks will be able to take care of it, I walk away still shaken up.
((I apologize if I put in too much detail))
*A large, elegantly written note is pinned outside Ac'talarahOn the top of paper is a stamp in the image of an eye.*
Richard Tarus,
I was recently informed that my acceptance in to the Arcane Delvers has been revoked for reasons unbeknownst to me. I was forcefully removed from your ruins, harassed, and insulted by members of your order during my exit. I am disgusted by this mistreatment and demand to know the reason for the denial of my application.
After re-reading a copy of what I sent in, I can find no problems with it - it is flawless. I have come to the conclusion that you are either denying me for my faith, a direct violation of your very own rules, or you are denying me for a silly mistake on my application (Which I'm sure I can refute).
I await your word, Tarus, or that of any of the other 'Regents' of this group. I hope that the response is pleasing.
Until we meet again,
Torian Buldrey
Cyrus wanders the empty ruins of Ac'talareh. His steps echo hollowly, nobody but he to hear them. 'Off on some Delve, I imagine' he mumbles to himself.
As he proceeds down the hall, he runs his hand along the dusty bricks along the wall. It was the first time in a while that he was able to think in a quiet space. Passing the dimly-lit corner, Cyrus spots a rather dark room across the way. Curiosity sparks his interest in the room, seeing it was not lit like any other place in the ruins.
Cyrus presses his open palm upon the old door and it creaks open slowly. The smell of dust invades the darkness. He snatches a candle that was lit in the hallway, and carries it into the room in order to see what is within. The candlelight reveals the contents of the room, yet casting eerie shadows of an age long past.
The long shadows of the room are cast by long dead, tarnished candlesticks atop of scattered papers. An empty, open chest lays next to an unmade bed. Across the bed is a table of sorts, cracked with age and covered in dust. Cyrus approaches the table, noting a letter that was hastily written. His eyes scan the ancient paper, then widen.
"Hera!"
The volume of his voice frightens himself, the echoes carrying again.
"Or... should I say Ms. Alena... It's been some time..."
Cyrus doesn't stop himself from feeling anything, his stone-face breaking for the first time in awhile. 'What is this feeling...? Nostalgia..? Do I miss her..?'
He pauses again.
'She's not coming back. It does not matter...' He stonefaces again.
