Wow, this is just one of the most amazing ideas i had read! Amazing! Can imagine the roleplay of ghosts in haunted locations etc. Would give a scary rp feeling, but only if the players who are playing as ghosts are actually acting like them.

I like this idea, I really do, but I would think that they COULD NOT, and WOULD NOT feel ANYTHING as they don't have the glands and whatnot that allows LIVING things to feel. They could think that they can feel when in their delusions, like think of a tingling sensation, like with people who have had injuries, causing them to be crippled, leading them to BELIEVE they can feel the limb or body in the case of the poor ghosties who are being delusional. So they could THINK angry, sad or happy, not FEEL angry or other emotions, and thus are lacking when it comes to emotions and other stuff that requires glands and other red, squishy things.

I have to disagree with you, sir. Emotions aren't merely physical reactions to things. They exist in the mind and in the body. While the physical reactions to emotions - such as butterflies in the stomach or nausea or crying - might no longer be present, the emotions would still of course be there. We've all had strong feelings that don't necessarily manifest physically.

 

Besides, the ghost is a raw representation of a person's soul. If anything, emotions may appear more intense than normal since there's no fleshy exterior between a person's "inner self" and the outside world. I could imagine ghosts still blushing or crying or even "feeling" sick - just because that's the physical sensation they associate with a particularly intense emotion. The ghost's body is controlled by their mental state after all. If they think or believe it strongly, it will happen.

I think a person's soul would be a pretty turbulent thing. There's so much that goes on within us, after all, that people never see.

Plz accept lore on condition that only those on a list of accepted ghosts are permitted to play them. All who try will be treated the same as performing villainous actions without a VA.

Pretty sure the MAT are revising it so that all magical beings will require an app (which the MAT will oversee).

 

Since ghosts are a magical creature, I think they'll be subject to the same kind of treatment.

We've looked over this one for a while, and we've decided to accept it on a trial basis. That is to say, it's currently going to be implemented with certain restrictions, which can then be lifted, either wholly or in part, depending on how it goes.

 

The restriction is as thus: Urara only is permitted to roleplay as a ghost in accordance with this lore. We'll see how it goes, and if it works out, we'll look at ways of opening it up to more players without letting it get out of hand like so many things have in the past.

Aside from invisibility working poorly and a tendency for people to move through stages very quickly, ghosts seem to have worked out okay ingame and they are now being fully released.

We are not putting in any form of app immediately, but should ghosts get really out of hand we'll consider it. That being said, anyone playing as a ghost must follow the following rules or they will be disallowed from playing ghosts:

  1. You must read and follow the ghost lore.
  2. A ghost is incorporeal. Whilst some, such as poltergeists, can interact with the environment to an extent, ghosts may not carry mechanical items on their person, or engage in PvP combat. They are ghosts, not couriers, item banks or combat units. No PvP as a ghost and no carrying items as a ghost.
  3. A ghost which is banished through RP must leave the area, soulstone, or mechanically die (this should not be a problem as ghosts cannot carry items. If you are playing a ghost as an Alt character you must ensure you have no items on your person when you begin playing as a ghost.) They are effectively killed (although not necessarily PKed) and the 30 minute rule applies.
  4. Mage ghosts cannot use their former magical abilites without direct approval from the MAT. Ghosts cannot become invisible without MAT approval.
  5. Ghosts cannot engage or be engaged in PvP combat. If someone wishes to PvP you and you are a ghost, you must inform them of this rule. PvPing a ghost or as a ghost constitutes a NoRP kill.
  6. All ghosts must start at Haunt.
  7. Ghosts MUST have the correct desaturated, brightened skins depicted in the lore thread. If you are unable to acquire a proper ghost skin/skins you may not play a ghost.
  8. Anyone engaging in "trolly RP" as a ghost will be blacklisted from playing ghosts with immediate effect.
  9. If you are found to have broken these rules, you may not play a ghost any longer.

Fully implemented.
